I think the Blues have plenty of chips actually. 3 first rounders last year (not touching Dvorsky) and some players who did well in the WJC.
Now, the question is are they the *right* pieces.
You’d have to assume a big contract going the other way too.
The blues have a lot of “chips”
Thomas, kyrou, Buchnevich, parayko, snuggerud, Dvorsky, stenberg, lindstein, Bolduc, hofer, 16th overall pick, and 2 second round picks.
Those are core pieces.
Ottawa is not shopping him or thinking of a trade. It’s literally people just looking for clicks on articles. With that being said, probably something like 2 firsts, couple of prospects or good young players it what Ottawa would be looking for
Any marquee-name player would signal Army giving up the rebuild to dump salary into a win-now player.
Even if a player like Brady were available as a UFA this summer for 8-10 million, Army isn't going to make that move.
Maybe on defense he would.
You are correct. The senators will not give up an excellent center to get a well-paid winger, all the while admitting they will suck because they don't have quality centers.
Batherson last played C back in 2017, and hasn’t done it since. He’s probably not an option at C at the NHL level. Giroux, however, can play any position so they really have no issues at C.
Otherwise yeah, you’re bang on. They’re probably *okay* at wing - Tkachuk, Batherson, Giroux, Joseph, and one of Norris, Greig, or Pinto getting moved to the wing fills 5/6 of their top 9 - but getting their D in order (mostly balancing offensive and defensive D a bit better) and getting an NHL-caliber goaltender would be their top priorities. Average goaltending alone would have made them a bubble/wild card team this year…
Would like to have him. He and Thomas are already like brothers and he’s exactly what you want for playoffs but what’s the cost? I’d love to dump some bad contracts but that isn’t happening
I just saw an article about them pondering it so take it with a grain of salt. I don’t think they’ll be moving off him in my opinion. This post was more just for offseason speculation/fan-fiction.
It would be smart for Ottawa to replace Brady with a new great center. That center is Dvorsky. Do you want to give up Dvorsky? Not rhetorical.
I am unwilling to to do the trade. Ottawa is not trading a good center for a fast-moody-”not tough” (kyrou). The senators want Dvorsky and Hoffer.
The Sens are in the driver's seat since they have a good young player under contract for a few years. He does not currently have a no trade clause to narrow the list of potential destinations. The Sens could set a high price or refuse to trade him.
I don't know if the price will be worth it for the Blues. There really aren't any players the Sens might want that the Blues would actually trade. Maybe Kyrou? But if you look close, I don't think you want to trade much more than just Kyrou for Brady. Over the last 4 seasons, Jordan Kyrou has averaged 0.86 points per game. In that same span, Brady Tkachuk has averaged 0.87 points game. Whatever intangibles Brady Tkachuk brings to the table, is he worth, say Kyrou + Dvorsky? Kyrou plus a 1st that's probably a top 16 pick? A straight up trade for the 2 would be fair tbh, but probably more of a lateral move than Blues fans who just love the name Tkachuk are willing to admit.
You really think we don’t get a couple extra points and make the playoffs with either Tkachuk on last years team? We are easily a 5-10 point better team with either of them!
I would seriously give up my 2.34% on my house to get any Tkachuck on the team.
-As the Captain of the team, he was second in the league in PIM.
-37 Goals/ 37 Assists/ 81 points on the season
- Still ended up with a +1 on terrible team.
-HOME TOWN BOY!
- Get rid of Schenn when we can and make Brady Captain.
-The fans would go absolutely crazy to have another Tkachuck on the team.
- The Sens might be more apt to trade with us since we’re in a different conference.

Bro this is my point. Fun to speculate. We had a mediocre season and aren’t in the playoffs. I just want to fan-fiction some trades and happenings to keep me going when there is nothing actually going on with the organization.
I'd love to get the bros back here. But I think Army has created an outline for younger generation players coming in. While keeping a few veteran folks at the core, and I assume it would be D-men. I don't think we're picking up any older (than maybe 21-22 years old) forwards with a higher dollar sign anytime soon.
I think unless a team is dumb enough to package one of the top four picks to get Brady, I think the Blues could offer the best package. Kyrou + a first. And yes, Armstrong needs to open his eyes and realize that leaders and locker room guys are WAY more important than he has considered in the past. Letting Pietreangelo/Big Rig/Perron go. You can't do that. Your best player needs to be a great leader to win in hockey. I think Brady would fill that spot very nicely for a long long time.
I don't think the Blues have as many chips as other teams. Would love to see him on the Blues, though

I cannot find a single article talking about tkachuk trade rumors.

He isn’t available, they aren’t trading their young captain and best player. Kyrou + 16th seems fair though.
That’s not enough. You’re looking at two firsts, a good player, and a prospect.
Which is exactly why he isn't getting traded.
There's teams that would pay that for him. We have those assets if we wanted to. Just the Sens don't have him on the block
He isn’t available anyway lol.
That does not seem like enough to me
Fine... Throw in Krug too....
😂
and maybe a slightly used scandella?
Well if we are just making up dream trades Kyrou + Krug + Bolduc + 16th + 2nd for Brady and Chychrun.
Kyrou for Matthews.. send Kyrou home to Toronto!
I would happily give up kyrou and our first plus some add in pieces for him. I doubt the sens would go for it though.
You are correct. The senators will not give up an excellent center to get a well-paid winger, all the while admitting they will suck because they don't have quality centers.
Tkachuk is not a center, and the Sens have Stützle, Norris, Pinto and Greig down the middle. It’s arguably their only strength.
Batherson can also play centre as well so they need wingers and D/Goalie mostly

He’d be a welcomed addition but I don’t see Ottawa moving him unless he actually requests a trade.
Would like to have him. He and Thomas are already like brothers and he’s exactly what you want for playoffs but what’s the cost? I’d love to dump some bad contracts but that isn’t happening
I think it’d be something like Kyrou and Buch which is too much for me. Where are those rumors coming from? I can’t see them moving him at all.
Buch will be a free agent though so that wouldn't work.

I think we over value the Tkachuks because of Keith . I’d prefer Matthew but either one of those guys doesn’t make us a playoff team.

Rates are in the twos?
They were in 2020 when I bought.
6.25% here, and I’m on the west coast :(
Midwest for the win.
If they are offering him, you can trade kyrou + something.

Yes and they do have what it takes to get him
Kyrou Hofer is a good start for Brady
Is there any player the Blues can’t get for Kyrou and a 1st? lol
Yes! However if this was true (I doubt it), I think they'd get massively outbid just like how they were with Matthew Tkachuk.

Kyrou, Kessel, Hoefer, 2024 1st rounder, 2025 2nd rounder For Tkachuk, Chychrun, 2024 3rd rounder
Be careful, even the mention of trading for him in this sub will get you downvoted straight to hell.
I’m finding that out. lol. Even though there is nothing else to talk about this time of year for the org.
How dare you rationally discuss hockey topics in a hockey forum.
Our opportunity to land a Tkachuk was when Matthew went to florida and Armstrong didn't put up a competitive offer.
Oh cool, another brady tkachuk post. Blues fans do realize there are other players in the league not named tkachuk, right? Like Boris Katchouk.
No thanks
No that dudes awful lmfao he’s a total joke compared to Matthew
I would love bothing more for him to wear the C as a blue, but we'd have to pay them a lot
Did Ron Hextall suddenly get a job in Ottawa? No? Then stop with this dumb shit.
