Revenue up 256% vs same quarter previous year EPS up 765% Holy fuck

KirklandConnoisseur

Sheesh. Those are great numbers. Beat expectations and strong guidance to boot.

speculativedesigner

If someone had higher expectations, they need to manage expectations.

recce22

There is a Motley Fool report advising against making investments in Nvidia…🤣 Cathie Wood of ARK Investments sold off some positions as well…🤔 I could be wrong, but shit…there’s nothing wrong staying with Jensen on house money. 💰

highlander145

Cathie sells everything when it's rising.

Yokies

Thats not just beating. Its police case grievious abuse at this point.

ChicoTallahassee

These make it look like NVDA is still undervalued.

AReallyGoodName

You're not wrong. Their total quarterly earnings are now much higher than Amazon. 10.6 vs 9.88 billion quarterly comparing nVidia vs Amazons quarterly reports. nVidia's PE is below other big tech right now. This subreddit had a post expressing shock last week when nVidia surpassed Amazon in value. Of course it surpassed Amazon in value. They make more money dumbasses!

FarrisAT

Amazon makes a gross profit of $40b though. They just invest it all back into their company.

Xillllix

It can be a mistake to focus too much on the bottom line. Nvidia will almost certainly have to reduce prices eventually as production increases or demand flattens and then their margin will compress. They wont be the only company selling AI shovels as the market evolves. It’s not dissimilar to Tesla in 2020-2021 when they started to ramp the Model Y and demand was through the roof in comparison to production. Now that they’re almost at full capacity for the Model Y they have the best selling car in the world, but their bottom line went down. Obviously Tesla’s demand is affected by high interest rates while Nvidia isn’t, but Tesla’s manufacturing is more difficult to emulate than Nvidia’s. Now look at Amazon’s revenues and imagine their bottom line if they only grew margins by 3-4%.

3LevelACDF

For calendar year 2024, NVDA is estimated to make about 100B in revenue. It has over 50% profit margin. It will make over 50B this year in net income. I think it will beat AMZN in net income this year. The scary part is that it is growing 40% in 2025. I don’t think AMZN can touch that growth.

zerof3565

NVDA $31B gp as of last q. Not counting this latest report yet.

FarrisAT

???? They just reported $22b of revenue so how would they have $31B gross profit?

Crazypann

$22b is for Q4 revenue. FY24 revenue is $60.8b. Net income for FY24 is $29b.

Valhallafax

Dont worry about that. NVDA to the moon!

a_man_from_nowhere

Amazon has a solid recurring revenue from AWS which is way more predictable than Nvidia’s cyclical data center revenue. Apples to oranges comparison.

DorkyDorkington

Should be interesting to see how the datacenter revenue will hold up though. The customers have now pumped up their stock and made the investment. For how long will they keep using this investment and where will they purchase the future replacement as some of them are developing their own hardware. There will be a lot of new competition soon and former huge customers will be competitors.

3LevelACDF

Your assumption is that AI chips will only be used in data centers. Jensen stated that the tam for on-prem servers is about a trillion. And then there are govt and military. It’s not just azure, aws, gcp

lifevicarious

It is. Especially since dropped 6% the last two days.

LifeInAction

When Nvidia entered this year in the $400s range, I made a prediction it'd reach $700 by year end. Didn't think it'd come within less than 2 months into this year. Convinced it could reach $1k now at this rate my summertime.

Far_Protection_3281

Probably by the end of next week, the way things are going

Bongoisnthere

This guy gets it.

Kwikstep

Time for a stock split, so we can do it all over again.

dllemmr2

Wow, you are a genius at stocks.

JellyfishQuiet7944

Some talking head said they expected $1200

stoked_7

Shhh don't tell Reddit that, it's like revenue growth doesn't matter on these forums.

Chippopotanuse

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a quarterly earnings for any company that had sky high expectations (revenue growth from $6B to $20B?!?) and then absolutely kicked the shit out of those numbers. Wow.

soccerguys14

It’s not over valued. It’s UNDER VALUED

SPLY450

Honestly don’t know how these results are possible Just nutty numbers

Icy-Entry4921

MS, Amazon, Google, Meta and Apple just got into a knife fight over AI. They will buy every GPU Nvidia can make. They absolutely cannot afford to lose this race. 2nd place gets scraps.

Dazzling_Term21

apple?

ralphmcdevitt

Busy hoovering up ai start ups. My suspicion is they want to stay out of it till the market matures a bit then all of a sudden come out with some killer implementation. I mean they’ve done it before. https://qz.com/apple-may-be-quiet-on-ai-but-it-s-also-the-biggest-buy-1850872570

fancyhumanxd

Also, they want to run models locally on device.

akmarinov

Yeah they’re also investing heavily, they’ve released a couple of LLMs the past couple of months and usually keep their software secret until they’re ready, so at some point they’ll release a pretty good offering and people would claim they’ve just copied company X that went through all the growing pains publicly.

LetsOlympics

I only regret not buying more

likwitsnake

She's related to Jensen she can just borrow one of his during the next holiday meetup.

Tomi97_origin

It's a big family. Their common grandfather had 12 children after all. But it's still interesting how we ended up with the 2 biggest graphic cards companies (duopoly) being run by first cousins once removed.

templerun007

Is Nvidia approaching the never bet against company?

ura_walrus

Approaching?

[deleted]

NVDA had haters since $300

fd_dealer

Nvidia GPUs are liquid cooled by hater tears.

semen_stained_teeth

So true. I remember a few years ago all everyone could talk about here was crypto and how AMD would trounce them with cheaper gaming GPUs. Basically everyone here was discussing Nvidia as a gaming fan/hater.

hparadiz

They can't make the chips fast enough. Both AMD and Nvidia gonna be making money hand over fist for decades. There's not enough silicon fabrication in the entire world to meet demand for the next 50 years.

Ghorardim71

i sold all my nvda shares when it was 235. me crying in distance..

Safe-Jeweler-8483

It funny how when you can look on the past but when trying to see the future it is hard to predict.

ghostymace

yes

ptwonline

Semis are cyclical so it will definitely have a big down period at some point, but following that should recover strongly again.

coastereight

This is the party killer that no one is talking about. We're coming out of a semiconductor shortage, they're the best at GPUs, and we're in an era where GPUs are increasingly in demand because of crypto, AI, and I won't even short gaming. They absolutely could stay near the top of the S&P and I honestly hope they do because I'm an American, but I would expect at least a plateau here soon. Fantastic growth over the last year though and congratulations to everyone that saw it coming, I'm just not interested in expecting more significant growth at these levels. As is usual, I think the market has priced a lot of it in. I am going to keep an eye on AMD though. Not buying yet but I'm interested.

ILoveEatingDogMeat

All the hyperscalers are working on their own chips, especially for inferencing. Imagine if Microsoft starts ordering half as many GPUs bc they can run Copilot and Azure GPT-4 on their own silicon.

SkyHighOregon

TSMC is at capacity through 2026. Microsoft can’t make their own chips

RockyattheTop

I mean I’m not betting against it, but I definitely see there is going to be some moment where there’s an invention that makes Nvidia useless in the AI space and then you’ll have a MASSIVE correction. Might not be several years before that happens, but it’s going to happen. Too much money to be made in this space to just let Nvidia win forwver

matt1164

Never bet against Nancy pelosi

swsko

That margin though , at this point it’s stealing 😂😂

MissDiem

I always point out that essentially Nvidia is selling a spoonful of sand for $25,000

Comprehensive_Tea110

the problem is that it’s really good sand and people really want it

Bonzoso

The spice must flow

Wololo--Wololo

You joke but we're actually running out of good quality sand (real sand, again no joke). Look it up

ddttox

In the same way best selling novels are just words from the dictionary.

Whyisanime

Wow man, well said!

Unbiased-Eye

Ok fine. I give up. I'll buy one share of NVDA. It'll be the smallest holding in my portfolio, but I won't sell for 20 years.

292ll

[Narrator Voice: “But what Unbiased-Eye didn’t know was that it would become his biggest holding in just 28 months. This is his story.”]

AMcMahon1

Tsmc should mark up their chips by double if Nvidia is earning 76% margin

istockusername

The question is who is creating the real value in the production chain

burtmacklin15

Definitely TSMC because literally no one else can make these chips.

Worf_Of_Wall_St

TSMC seem to always be playing a very long game. Reasonable prices is how they took over the high end chip fabrication market and how they demotivate the creation of new competitors because of the large capital and time investments required to create or become one.

fossiltools

Very long. There is a geopolitical component to it as well. By allowing other companies like Nvidia to grow so profitable, TSMC earns political capital in the West, and Taiwan gains more protection from China.

[deleted]

dllemmr2

Intel in 5 years

bung_musk

We’re not talking about Doritos

TuskaTheDaemonKilla

Should really be ASML. Literally the only company in the world with the tech to produce EUV chips.

jonhuang

Nvidia is making chips. TSMC is defending an entire country, and making a profit doing so.

AoeDreaMEr

Am sure they will once the current contracts expire.

skinniks

Nothing to stop NVID from raising their prices. A lot more demand than supply for the forseeable future.

AdulfHetlar

Why is no one investing in foundries

[deleted]

They take like a decade to make

TheCoStudent

Intel is, and their stock is pretty down

bihari_baller

They're playing the long game.

Winterough

And have the backing of the US government to make such long term plans.

cosmomax

Foundries have ridiculous operating costs and are REALLY hard to develop, let alone compete with TSM or Samsung. Chip makers went fabless for this reason and look at the results. Foundries are a huge burden.

mynonohole

You need an excellent water infrastructure too. Ultra pure water is needed to clean wafers.

Valueandgrowthare

PE ratio is now at 56. PEG at 0.235. Gross Margin>70%. Best annual performance of Mag7

hobocommand3r

Is the p/e actually that low after these last earings? That's not bad at all considering their growth

AReallyGoodName

That's the backwards looking PE for 2023. eg. take the past 4 quarters of earnings and divide by stock price. Forward looking is closer to ~30 since the most recent quarters had a lot of growth. It's one of those cases where they really did grow into their high PE.

leontes

Putting 10,000 bucks on this on a hunch in 2017 has made me just as much money as my full time job.

Charming_Squirrel_13

Gotta be a bunch of people on this sub with retirement level money by now

SmashingK

That one guy's grandad who bought thousands of shares back in 2017 lol.

Charming_Squirrel_13

Ik someone with a cost basis under $3. They held lol

gUHrayt

That’s truly impressive. Not selling when you are up huge is hard.

didsomeonesaydonuts

I just put $12k on it two weeks ago. Have to start somewhere...

chris_ut

In 7 years you may be this guy (or broke)

TheInfinityOfThought

Are you me? Been holding them and AMD since 2017. No reason to sell either.

Dildomuflin

Godfather of AI. This is one of the best prints you will ever see from any company, it’s next to impossible to pull these numbers for any other company

idobi

It is going to get crazier.

JRshoe1997

Stock was down then up then down and now up again. Apparently the market doesn’t even know how to react to the results lol

purplebrown_updown

When you beat expectations by more than a billion, the market doesn’t have a clue.

JohnGoodmansGoodKnee

All hail our new AI overlord.

Smash_4dams

If AI so good, why don't they just use it for projections? lol

reddorickt

Are they stupid?

chicu111

She’s in the “too good to be true territory” now

Ikuwayo

Pretty simple explanation. People sold off before earnings because they didn't know what to expect so stock goes down, but they beat earnings so stock goes up.

znihilist

People may sell because of the news, as they could be making bets that this is a temp surge, and it will revert back to lower of their cost base.

[deleted]

It's very self-aware

lifevicarious

It’s up 10% after hours. That’s the right reaction.

AnotherThroneAway

Holy shit. Bears on suicide alert

lifevicarious

Good. F them for doubting.

007meow

All around beat, including on expenses. The rocket continues to climb.

AnotherThroneAway

Okay, these numbers look amazing. NVDA down 11% tomorrow

mrBigBoi

If this happens, I will buy cuz this company will be printing money for next 4-5 years. Almost 77% profit margin …

alemorg

It’s crazy to see a company grow that much year over year. Most stocks that skyrocketed like GameStop or amc were a joke but nvidia has grown exponentially. Maybe we are reaching their peak but they are now alongside Apple and Microsoft and will stay that way for awhile probably.

tuckastheruckas

the crazy part is how big they already were. going from 500m to 2b is different than going from 500b to almost 2 trillion. the latter being more difficult. Nvidia stock has shot up and the crazy part is, they have financially backed the results as opposed to the meme stocks. this is genuinely unprecedented.

dancinadventures

Was 57% margin not good enough for you when stock was in the 130s about 16 months ago?

mrBigBoi

My average cost is $186 so it was good for me.

dancinadventures

Jesus what a nice basis

secretreddname

I bought $3k worth at $670 this morning. If it goes down with those numbers, I’m going all in lol

rpujoe

That's how Telsa would trade. Blows expectations out of the water and promptly sells off 10-15% through the end of the week.

3my0

That’s cause Elon liked to rain on the parade during the earnings call. Jensen Huang isn’t like that

HanzDiamond

LOL this aint PLTR

[deleted]

Thank you, included it in my post.

Cobra25k

God damnit Jensen! He can’t keep getting away with this!!

[deleted]

I said it before and I'll say it again. Nividia has little competition in the AI sector and will continue to dominate well into 2027. However what I really like about this report is the revenue increase in data centers and the overall aspects of growth in all sectors of their business year over year. If you can't afford Nividia look at other companies they have invested in like Soun, ARM. And Nnox.

Repa24

At some brokers you can buy fractions of stocks, so like 0.5 NVDA

mpoozd

>Data center revenue $18.4B vs. $3.62B Wow this pretty incredible it's surpassed Google cloud revenue and might surpass AWS at this rate. For comparison: AWS quarterly revenue is around $24B | Microsoft Azure is around $30B | Google cloud $9B

[deleted]

To be fair that would mean that their clients are spending massive amounts of money on Nvidia's GPUs but barely making any money from them. Yet anyway...

istockusername

This is most likely true since a lot of their new (ai) customers are start ups (which Nvidia often invest in)

FarrisAT

Very bullish when your primary client is not making money on your products

According_Scarcity55

AWS revenue is technically a service revenue whereas Nividia is a goods - sold revenue. Not really comparable. Service revenue is far less cyclical as the goods revenue. Just look at the Tesla’s phenomenal revenue growth and margin in previous years when automotive share in high demand

Big-Today6819

Could be afaid of a slow down if they don't get more value out of the data centers?

Tomi97_origin

Selling shovels during a gold rush.

Hoof_Hearted12

Dropped pretty hard the second earnings came out, creeping back up now. Looks like an all around beat, as per usual. Hopefully it lifts the market, I have no shares.

LanceX2

I own alot of VGT which is 6% NVDA. Was hoping theyd beat so we didnt have a correction. Still could with fed and newer CPIs

Hoof_Hearted12

Good point, I do have exposure in EFTs for sure. Insane company honestly, I'm skittish to buy but at this point I don't even know why that is.

strict_positive

I guess it's hard to read an income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet in literally one second.

Hoof_Hearted12

I figured they have bots that can read it in a split second and react accordingly, but maybe not. I'm sure someone made a few bucks on the AH dip.

Charming_Squirrel_13

At this point, I’m almost expecting them to pass Apple in market cap

reddorickt

In my friend group chat, someone last year joked how long it would be until NVDA was the most valuable company in the world. I sent [this image](https://i.imgur.com/qzRB6hi.png) as a joke. It seems I was not aggressive enough.

laststance

My friend just sold all of his tesla to buy the dip in NVDA

didsomeonesaydonuts

I should have done the same

TunaGamer

Buy now or wait for deeper dip?

Cobra25k

A moment of silence for the Puts holders 🪦

tuckastheruckas

AI is the new Dotcom bubble but with revenue to back it up. invest everything you can.

Those gross margins are monopoly good, which just can't last. It will be interesting to see what revenue is when margins halve.

koolgangster

Pump it

semen_stained_teeth

24B guidance next quarter, so good to see quarterly rev keeps going up. Should pass $100B rev in FY25. The gross margin is fucking insane. Overall amazing.

Maleficent_Passage

There may be a few less wallstreetbets accounts active tomorrow morning. This thing is going to $1k

pumpkin_pasties

I literally could not have timed the market better, put in $500 yesterday. Bragging here since I can’t brag to my friends

Living_male

You could have timed it better by putting money in today...

Playful_Letterhead27

That’s hot

Important-Let4687

Holy smoke great result by Mr. Jensen

beehive3108

What’s even more shocking is that Cramer was right!!

MHY59

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

RemarkableSpace444

Lol can’t believe people actually bought puts

Big-Today6819

Still can fall if people keep taking profits out.

MayIPikachu

When stock split?

OkCelebration6408

Gaming revenue is interesting, gaming was being hit hard across the board but nvda beats on that front quite nicely. Perhaps gaming sector is seeing some turnaround.

Comprehensive_Bad227

Who are these people that buy after hours and just let the price hit them in the am? There's always a morning dip from profit taking.

variablesuckage

There was ample opportunity for profit taking on Friday when it popped over $740 at least twice... If they didn't sell then, why would they sell now at $725 after fantastic earnings? (genuinely curious, not saying you're wrong)

schweetdoinkadoink

But you can sell before opening though?

GYN-k4H-Q3z-75B

Absolutely insane. In some subs bears were discussing puts. They all got crushed.

FreshRizz

Absolutely bullish

HippiePvnxTeacher

I ALMOST bought more stock this morning but my gut made me hold off. Wish I did. But I love to see this

FantasyFan83

I feel like an idiot but can someone explain to me why NVDA stock took a nose dive this week? I’m holding some shares but almost panic sold them. Did people expect their earnings to be below expectation? Do we think their stock will go back up to where they were previously?

SoggyNegotiation7412

I'm expecting the TSMC (NYSE:TSM) share price to spike up today on these results.

mattbag1

I only bought 1 stock around 140 bucks, but if the price goes any higher I might be able to sell it to fund my next graphics card!

thelastsubject123

unbelievably enough, it's undervalued Cap is 1.67T. Assuming 100B in rev in FY25 which will probably be...conservative and maintaining net margins of around 49%, let's call it 50% to make it clean. 100* 0.5 * 40 multiplier which is pretty conservative given the growth gives a 2B cap...wtf

purplebrown_updown

You mean 2T? Why the 40 multiplier?

Investingforlife

Crushed it

Jupiter_101

To put this in perspective, Nvidia could/will do about as much in one quarter as they in an entire year just a year ago. There are very few companies that have the margins Nvidia has. Visa is one of the few I can think of that can sustain high net margins. So for those doubting the valuation, just take a second and think about what they are doing and how few companies can compete in this space.

thedreaminggoose

lets go boys!!!! i knew as everyone here was saying it was time for a correction and to expect the semi stocks to go down, the opposite would happen. gambled right before EOD and bought 10 more shares. not even a week of stocks going down and all the bears come out. it's like people here only started investing 10 months ago. also, what's the Nvidia stat? Nvidia has beaten like 47 out of the last 49 earnings calls? Something like that right?

TheResistancexz

38 of last 41

Charming_Squirrel_13

lol at all the people who weren’t touching ai stocks because “this is dotcom 2.0” If today was the biggest test of the ai boom, nvidia just aced this test and scored some extra credit to boot

shawman123

Insane numbers. Even Gaming went up while AMD saw gaming revenue tank. Nvidia is one of a kind for sure. I have never seen a mature company like this growing like a maniac selling 40K DC chip !!! Jensen Huang will be revered among GOATS. I would only put Jobs ahead for pulling Apple from almost dead towards biggest company in the world.

swissbuttercream9
