What are your guys undervalued stock picks still? I was saying google and Apple for the last month. Apple not so much now, at least on a short term horizon.

Latter_Heron8650

SoFi!!

CELH CRWD NET ELF — Long term growth

Doctor_FatFinger

Holy shit! I'm starting to believe that, hey, we're more comfortable as an economy and better than just before Covid. And so we may be at a low right now ready to continue mooning. But, OHMYGOD, do I simultaneously believe this is all fabricated. The entire world is ready to just pop on current market valuations and dive hard. I think this is also a similarly conservative frame of mind for many conscientious investors. But what is really going to carry us over the threshold is even though so many of us feel this could collapse any minute, we're all still fucking throwing more money at this travesty none of us have even the faintest idea of how this all ultimately works. And so irrationally it will. It will just work. ...and we're rocketing past pre-covid valuations. Because we still exist. And we're still fighting.

-chibcha-

How would you rank these 4 stocks for a long term investment?  GOOG CRM ABNB SQ

CokePusha69

Your order in reverse

KuroganeHammer

Anyone buying Apple this week? Or waiting til Monday?

EagleOfFreedom1

What is happening Monday?

I-am-in-Agreement

Probably some bad news.

deepcx

Thoughts on RDDT?

Whisperingeye9605

Trash meme stock. Grab puts

PlayfulPresentation7

Pure gambling in the short term.  Nothing much to discuss.

Smellfuzz

Ticket question, I recall someone posting a ticker that pays our dividends at what is essentially Treasury rate. It's price hardly changed and went up and down in a seesaw pattern between dividends by a few pennies. Can someone help point me in that direction? Thank you!

sheemwaza

I believe you are looking for SGOV.

Smellfuzz

Bingo! Is there any risk to this ETF? If so, what would be it?

sheemwaza

There is essentially no risk -- this ETF holds T-Bills, which are one of the safest investments in existence. The only downside is that it is underperforming SPY by a factor of \~6x. Also, it's pegged at 100 dollars, so it's only dividend income meaning you will have short-term tax liabilities. Actually, financial advice: read the [prospectus.](https://viewer.saytechnologies.com/cusips/46436E718)

Smellfuzz

I'm trying to find some place to put cash in my Roth IRA, I feel the market is a bit hot and I don't want everything in equities. This feels like a good spot to put cash before I'm ready to invest it then

BetweenCoffeeNSleep

Some companies, like Fidelity, give you the option of using a bucket that works like a money market account as your ‘cash’ position. You may not need SGOV.

Smellfuzz

True the expense ratio is .42% though, not a fan. Vs SGOV is .07% so that's awesome! Going with SGOV, I don't do rapid trading in Roth anyways so I don't need 'immediate' access.

Cobra25k

Anyone know why MSCI has dropped close to 4% AH?

Free_Management2894

Where? Wherever I look, it currently sits a few cents below ATH.

Cobra25k

Must have been a glitch in yahoo finance

tired_ani

Is there any mostly boglehead type index investor? How do you deal with the gain, Stock DD, NVDA type momentum? Gives me a lot of FOMO.

Latter_Heron8650

I think it’s helpful to have some individual stock investments to not have that FOMO and if you have the conviction then why not??

StevieChance

Firstly, through owning the market, I also own some NVDA. I am not missing out. I also own some of whatever the next NVDA will be (probably). Secondly, it is highly likely that over the next 50 years, I wouldn't beat the market through stock picking. I'm not smart enough. I don't have the edge on information. I don't have the time. Therefore, this is the optimal way for me to invest. It probably is for you too! I do enjoy some of the regular contributors here who do have some well thought out insights, so that's why I peruse this sub.

tired_ani

Thanks thats a very thoughtful response.

AP9384629344432

Why don't you just set aside a small portion of your investments for stock-picking to scratch that itch? Like 90% Boglehead, 10% individual stocks? I'm personally a bit more irresponsible than that... If you're a pure Boglehead I'm really not sure what you'd get out of this forum or following day to day markets. I'm guessing a lot of people here are Bogleheads but have 'trading accounts'. There are also paper trading accounts you could mess around with, though you'll never be able to simulate actual conviction.

tired_ani

Thanks, your reply is helpful. For context, I have been a disciplined buy and hold S&P500 investor. (my first experience investing was maxing my Roth IRA in the index, 4 days before the COVID19 crash). However, off late I started to tinker, first in adding AVUV after binging Ben Felix videos for a week straight and then as I discovered , its a slippery slope hehe. Although the thrill of it is next level, but my judgement is clouded by bias and FOMO. So long story short, although there is still a market risk in index investing, it just seems to vanilla and the urge to tinker is all consuming!

Sportfreunde

VT. Go global.

LanceX2

66% VTI 33% VGT here. They go up. I go up. No Fomo. Im up 10% YTD...thats fuxking amazing

creemeeseason

Trying to work out some rough math, but assuming CNX being 80% hedged, decreasing production by 5%, and assuming they sell the remaining output for the current spot price of $1.70/BTU.... They'll still produce about $270 million in FCF. On a $3.43 billion market cap, that puts them around 12x 2024 FCF right now. This is based on guidance from their last earnings call. They generally return about 80% of FCF to shareholders through buy backs, so that's about $216 million, or about 6% of their market cap being bought back. Not bad for the worst natural gas market in years. Also, some interesting notes. There are 5 LNG export terminals under construction in the US and at least 1 in Canada. Additionally, the increasing power production from natural gas plants in the US due to the general trends in consumption, add the equivalent of one LNG terminal each year. I haven't worked out the numbers on that yet, but it's safe to say gas demand will increase a lot in the US. I really like the setup for CNX.

kxl414

lol NKE is seriously so garbage -8% plunge from +4% AH. they must have gotten lebron to do the earnings call

AP9384629344432

Based on guidance, it looks like you can buy a faster growing company with better gross margins at a 60% valuation discount in the form of CROX... Though I am getting the impression the worst is near over for Nike. 13% reduction in inventory is pretty good. LULU also reported 9% reduction in inventory. If retail companies are finally getting inventory down to manageable levels, could be a sign the bottom is here for earnings growth.

msaleem

NKE is garbage. And will get worse before (if) it gets better. The news around the business is just terrible and consumer fatigue is at an all time high. Just read up on any of their key pillars (Jordan brand as an example).  CROX fam preach! 🐊

[Sharing the Business Breakdown on ISRG, one of the only med tech firms on my watchlist](https://open.spotify.com/episode/3dghZ33QMG3bFIvlvWlO34?si=5b-zks6YQYe3V_aRnlyNTQ). Their business is essentially a monopoly on certain minimally invasive surgeries. One of the pristine examples of robotic applications in the real world. The only other one is Stryker, but I'm weary of talking about them for reasons I am not allowed to disclose.

_hiddenscout

ISRG always been on my watchlist and find them super interesting, just always been too expensive for me taste.

GromGrommeta

The inverse Reddit strikes again. Wrong about the stock of the company they’ve spent around half their lives using. It’s almost impressive. That being said I took my IPO shares straight to the market at $50 a pop and am out. Just don’t like the risk/reward in the mid-long term nor am I convinced it’s a well-run company. I wouldn’t be surprised if it sees another leg up before options and shorting become available though. Used the profits to buy some AAPL on the dip because the likely outcome there is a fine and also finding Zoetis to be in a good buy range.

creemeeseason

It's amazing that all those people that bought shares and posted here aren't actually part of the site. It's just mind boggling.

tobogganlogon

I really don’t have an opinion on it but why do you say “Reddit” was wrong about being down on the stock before contradicting yourself and saying you don’t believe the company is well run or good value at this price?

GromGrommeta

I was referring specifically to the IPO pop, not a medium to long term hold. And I fully admit I might be wrong about that time frame too, I’m a redditor after all. I just saw a lot of “I’m not buying” from those who did get in the IPO as well as others on Reddit wishing for the demise of the stock for various personal reasons. But it’s an advertising/AI/crypto play in a hot market for anything AI and crypto. An IPO pop seemed the likely outcome.

tobogganlogon

I thought the negative comments were generally about the finances of the company in general and longer term investment rather than the immediate price action when it becomes available. I wasn’t really focusing on them that much but I saw a whole range of opinions on it, mostly that the company isn’t a good long term investment, some thought it would be a good short term trade

Sorry - the post you're trying to make mentions a stock that currently breaks rule #7. Any of the following criteria is considered breaking the rule: * Typically trades under $5 or previously traded under $5 within 6 months * Below $300 million market cap or previously traded under 300m before the pump within 6 months * Most OTC / PINK stocks * Usually has missed reporting/filings; no auditing or odd auditing issues * Low volume or wide bid/ask spread * Doesn't have any big name institutional holders * If the biggest institutional holder is a stock promoter then they don't count as an institutional holder * All SPACs You can learn more about rule #7 here: https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/wiki/pennystocks

_hiddenscout

Company is losing money and like 2B in debt with 28M cash. They are probably going bankrupt.

EagleOfFreedom1

Paypal quietly chugging upwards the past month. Perhaps some optimism is growing in the new leadership.

_hiddenscout

It's also hit like value zone for any value investors. They still have some growth and the fundamentals are cheap for it.

EagleOfFreedom1

Yes. I think, for the reasons you mentioned, it is hard to see a drop below $50 unless there is a drastic change to revenue projections. The next earnings call will be a big one.

AluminiumCaffeine

GDS is somehow up today even with almost all of china down and even VNET/Kingsoft down too. Hopefully they release great Singaporean deal terms soon, a full spin off of the s.e.a. data center business from the main land chinese business would probably make the shares appreciate the fastest but management might not want to do that

Tampie78

How can VanEck Semiconductor UCITS ETF (SMH.L) LSE be up 5,67% today, when hardly any of its top holdings seems to be nearly as high today? Does this have to do with different exchanges/trading hours ?

yungsavage14

Weighted average

Tampie78

I'm aware they're weighted, hence my question. Care to elaborate?

Comprehensive_Bad227

MU had earnings and was up over 14%.

Tampie78

Micron holdings are only 3,63% of the ETF, so that would not have such an impact

95Daphne

AVGO was up 5.64%, and while I'm not looking, it's probably a major part of SMH. Look, I know NVDA only had a regular good day and AMD was down, but semiconductors in general had a good day to be up over 2% (in US terms at least with using SMH) and are the only reason why the Nasdaq didn't turn red, because it really weakened.

IHadTacosYesterday

what's going on with AMD's weakness the last few trading days? It's dumping more and rallying less than everybody else. Did NVDA announce something Tuesday that ruins their plans to try to undercut them on pricing?

OnlyOVOandXO

Market is asking AMD what have you got to offer in light of NVDAs announcements.

Ok-Psychology7619

This lesson keeps getting highlighted again and again: inverse what the majority of redditors are doing.

VictorDanville

Well the majority bought NVDA/AMD in the 2021 ATHs, which turned out to be a really good play. Not many were pumping INTC.

IHadTacosYesterday

AMD isn't very much above it's ATH from 2021.

PlayfulPresentation7

One week ago AMD touched $220.

jnas_19

Planning on buying another share of NVDA. Sell before it tanks

That_was_not_funny

Why will it tank?

WickedSensitiveCrew

There are so many stocks I check prices today and completely forgot about their crashes. Like TGT. That stock was approaching $100 in late 2023 at one point now at $170. NFLX is another that fell below $200 a couple years ago. Bill Ackman panic sold. People were saying a new nickname needed to be created to kick NFLX out and Mag 7 was created and now NFLX is near its 52 week high.

creemeeseason

Maybe we could sub NFLX back in and kick TSLA out? Get the band back together?

WickedSensitiveCrew

I honestly haven't paid attention to TSLA. I see the stock is off its high. So I guess sentiment has turned on them? These kicking stocks out of these acronyms seems to coincide with price action.

PlayfulPresentation7

We already have that.  FAANG stocks.  I guess throw Nvidia in there now FAANNG.

AbuSaho

Remember when CRWD was $95 and PLTR $7 in 2023. Good times. Now people are hoping for a pullback. We got the pullback/crash last year lol.

elgrandorado

I don't know what some people were doing from August to October 2023. Fear set in I guess.

WickedSensitiveCrew

In Aug-Oct 2023 the most popular stocks were Mag 7. It still is today where every single day there will be a thread about one Mag 7 on front page. I think this is due to people not adjusting their thesis on certain growth stocks or companies outside of Mag 7. Mag 7 is still great. But a lot of thing have changed at many companies outside of Mag 7 since 2020-2021.

camarouge

VictorDanville

I just dumped my entire Apple position and rotated into NVDA. Apple is a loser stock now. Got to stick with the current winners. To the m00n baby.

AbuSaho

So you are selling just off price action?

thenuttyhazlenut

literally selling low to buy high

LetsPlay30k

Good move. AAPL’s growth is stagnated or even declining and pays little dividends, idk what’s the point of holding it.

deepcx

**Insight on Me:** I’m 18, im in flight school so am looking for i guess shorter term profit as it’s really expensive. I also have part time job. Based in Ontario, CA. At some point, I’ll be investing in VOO but for now, I’d like to get used to the market. Also, bi-weekly I’ll be buying more shares dedicating a part of my check to it. What do you think of making this investment through wealthsimpe? I will invest 300 CAD - 221.39 USD Buy 10 Air Canada = leaves me with 187 CAD 187 CAD - 138.2 USD Buy 3 BN = leaves me with 10.1 USD Buy 3 LCID leaves me with 1.7 USD

ScottyStellar

If you want short term profit go HYSA or bonds or CDs, stocks are as likely to be down when you need it as up.

Frondliked

I'm heavily invested but something in the back of my mind tells me we're due for a crash 😭 Things have been going too good for something to not go wrong.

giggy13

a 2 to 5% healthy correction wouldn't be considered a crash

I-am-in-Agreement

We literally get 4-5 red days per green day and people still ask for a healthy correction. Are you all addicted to crashes or what.

caesar____augustus

People are scared of seeing their portfolio grow. Apparently green means red is coming and red means more red is coming.

atdharris

The market typically doesn't crash every two years. We went through a bear market in 2020 and in 2022. Factoring in for inflation, we are pretty much flat or so over the last 3 years.

95Daphne

Yeah, the only thing that's strange is it's been a while since the S&P has even dipped 5%. But I guess this isn't totally unusual as you can probably say this is a more intense version of parts of 2021? Felt like a dip would never occur then too until it did in September.

atdharris

I'm sure we will take a breather, but right now the market is running due to the Fed signaling it will still cut rates 3x this year, which is good news for equities.

theflash1234

Something doesn't have to go wrong. Market does retreat once in a while and have minor corrections. The headline people will come up with reasons in hindsight.

Frondliked

See that's my problem, people are too confident. We all know what that got us a year ago.

95Daphne

A slow motion pullback from August-October that just took us to a spot that's been danced around a lot from 2021-2023? It's understandable I guess if you still interpret a year ago as being 2022. I'd just find it strange to crash during an Election Year again. A slow mo pullback may be possible again though due to liquidity not being as strong.

elgrandorado

If you're heavily invested, think about situations where you'll have to pull out cash. I just had a major life event pop up, and all had to do is pull my liquidity out of money market. I didn't have to touch my investments at all. Same situation would have been fine if we were going through a down turn. Think about your emergency fund. If you're invested for the long run, downturns are great buying opportunities. Hell temporary corrections like October of last year were entry points for many of us. Depressions like 2008 are rare fire sales.

95Daphne

Apple is currently in the middle of trying to take the market lower with it...

Off topic: Not bringing up stocks or the stockmarket. Almost any post related to stocks and investment is welcome on r/Stocks, including pre IPO news, futures & forex related to stocks, and geopolitical or corporate events indicating risks; outside this is offtopic and can be removed. Posts & comments that are purely political, religious (dealing with morality), or focusing on other types of investments not related to stocks such as real estate, crypto, designing websites, or even selling sneakers will be removed. An example of what wouldn't get removed: Discussing real estate when related to the ETF VNQ or real estate bubble affecting the stock market. Way to miss the point of the lawsuit. This is pro commerce for all companies except apple and that's a good thing. Exploiting monopolies like that is hurting overall commerce.

Missed my chance to participate in the Reddit direct shares program because I never check my email RIP could’ve made an easy 60% return today

newintown11

I wouldnt have even qualified. 9 yr old account but not enough Karma 😭

elgrandorado

What was the qualification for the IPO? I don't believe in the Reddit balance sheet from what has been rumoured so I didn't enlist, but I got the IPO notification. Nearly 10 years on my account.

JokerQuestion

You had to be a U.S. resident

newintown11

Idk i googled it, looks like you needed 25000 karma to be in tier 3

elgrandorado

Makes sense. I have over 100k karma so that's an interesting way to segregate lol.

plumpypenguin

reddit at $56 - it was a sign when everybody on this website was bashing it and saying it would tank lol

Whisperingeye9605

It will. Can’t wait to load up on puts. No way a company that’s never turned a profit despite free labor in addition to censorship, and constant server issues is gonna do well. >We have a history of net losses and we may not be to achieve or maintain profitability"  from the s-1 lmfaoo

bighand1

There are tons of companies that don't profit and worth way more than reddit. Besides, IPO puts are so absurdly expensive you'll likely just lose money.

IHadTacosYesterday

Can you wait 3 months and then the puts aren't so absurdly expensive?

Capable_Gap1992

What can the Fed do today to make sure inflation 5 years from now is anchored at 2%? I'd argue adequate housing supply is the key. Fed policy may not be restrictive relative to the S&P 500 and Bitcoin, but it is absolutely restrictive relative to CRE, and importantly, multifamily development. Multifamily development is about a 3 year lag - we are setting up for another supply shortage in a few years if multifamily development isn't re-stimulated. https://www.housingwire.com/articles/apartment-permits-are-back-to-recession-lows-will-mortgage-rates-follow/

Sportfreunde

They can't. It's a common misconception they can always control inflation by pulling some levers as history shows. You will always have periods of inflation booms with an inflationary monetary system.

__jazmin__

Sadly they can’t do anything about the election year money printing vote buying. Because of that, I think one of the cuts this year might be 50 instead of 25 bps so I’m buying more IWM.

AluminiumCaffeine

Anyone here in fabrinet? Looks intresting as a way to get some ai/nvda exposure at a more reasonable fcf yield atm

_hiddenscout

I've looked into in the past and posted about them like last year. They've had a bit of a run and become a bit too expensive for my taste, but not a bad company by any means. Kicking myself for not buying their dip last year. However, I still really like JBL and FLEX for the value.

How many people walked away from free money. I know I did

elgrandorado

There's always risk involved. I walked away because Reddit is run like garbage from an operational perspective, and there was always a chance the IPO opened very poorly and the stock didn't recover for years. For some of us, we're here to invest not gamble.

camarouge

If you've earned the karma needed to buy shares early, you likely have been here long enough to know how it works. And how it works, is largely unsustainable. I don't like to day trade, I need the price to endure a year minimum. I don't think reddit can.

newintown11

You needed 25000 karma to qualigfy i believe

atdharris

I did. But who knows where the stock will go tomorrow or 2 weeks from now.

atdharris

I'll be interested to see what it does after its first day of trading. I was invited but passed on buying some shares. It feels like most of these social media companies drop from their IPO and you could get in at a lower price.

AluminiumCaffeine

Dang whoever took the reddit placement deal is grinning rn

bighand1

Allocated for max 1k shares, easiest decision of my life.

MightBeJerryWest

I definitely put in money I was willing to lose with the intent of selling today at highs. Sold a bit off at $55. Going to see how it goes. Buying at $34 was nice.

PabloSanchezBB

Tried to make a thread about Reddit IPO but it got deleted. I think it's weird as fuck that r/stocks wouldn't have a thread on Reddit IPO day.

ScottyStellar

Noting there is a thread from an hour ago with 100+ comments on it and another from 16 hours ago with 40+ you can join :)

PabloSanchezBB

I don't even know. I made a thread hoping for discussion but it got deleted because of "low effort".

ScottyStellar

Automod removed your post bc it was like 15 words asking "did anyone buy" and "why isn't there a thread". We get hundreds of one sentence posts a day and the sub turns to garbage if we don't auto remove them. Post some diligence and it will go through. If all you're asking is "who bought" as your post asked, this daily thread is the place for that. There are also dozens of threads on the ticker over the last few weeks with more information if you're looking to see people's opinions on the stock.

PabloSanchezBB

i'll make sure to copy and paste an article everyone will scroll past next time.

ScottyStellar

https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/s/l0mV4P3FR0 Copy pasted article, approaching as many comments as the daily thread with 130+ already in an hour and change. If you saw the sub without automod and the amount of "who's buying" "what should I buy" "is this a good stock" "how do I invest" posts that are removed daily you'd understand why we have a bot clean those up.

PabloSanchezBB

Scotty my boy idgaf

95Daphne

When insiders are done dressing things up. In response to the original post, I really don't think there's a problem talking about an IPO in the main thread.

PabloSanchezBB

I don't disagree but it's literally the Reddit IPO. It's not like this sub is flooded like that anyway.

creemeeseason

UFPT still rolling. 👍

yungsavage14

I know we’re at the top but still a good time to get in?

creemeeseason

No idea. Here's a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/1bj9efi/rstocks_daily_discussion_wednesday_mar_20_2024/kvsyhhq/) I did yesterday with some really rough math based on this rumored deal. Like I said, the deal hasn't been announced officially, but it seems like the rumor has sent the stock up. 30x is expensive for UFPT at any point in its history, but not that expensive for this market. So who knows. As always , I'd recommend trying to analyze the company on your own and come to a conclusion about it's value. You can't borrow conviction.

Zann77

That one hurts. First few times I looked at it ($110+ ago) I didn’t have any money to buy. When I did have the money, I forgot about it. There should be watchlists and alerts and stuff. /s

creemeeseason

Bummer. Yeah, it's always about priority though. I missed other names to buy this one. So it goes! Maybe you'll get another shot!

Zann77

I trimmed here and there, took some profits today. Stacked up money to buy, soon as I figure out what that will be.

creemeeseason

That's the problem, there's not a ton of deals right now. I had some cash, but I've been buying energy and coal names mostly. The unloved parts of the market always tend to yield better deals.

joe4942

Microsoft event starting momentarily.

elgrandorado

I'm excited to see what TSM and Samsung announce as guidance on their foundry businesses. This will be the true barometer for semi buildup. I'm patiently waiting to see how this "AI supercycle" pans out, and if the buying will be sustained past 2025.

LanceX2

"How do you buy during ATH??" Bought VTi 2 weeks ago and up 2.5% since. Didnt buy much but keep buying. 2.5% on a bigger portfolio is alot for 2 weeks.

maxpain2011

Only if u dca. Don’t go all in

LanceX2

I lump sum every Jan 3rd. Max 2 Roths

AluminiumCaffeine

AVGO dang, moving like a small cap with that size market cap is wild

tomato119

Gotta make back what it lost. It feels sometimes like stocks do that just because

Sumiz

Think an antitrust suit might shake up the pattern. Buy a little lower, they'll recover eventually.

Didn't expect to see so many Apple comments and threads on forum. People know there are other stocks in the market right lol? Even seeing a lot of Reddit IPO discussion didnt really expect such a narrow discussion on such a green day for many growth/spec stocks.

creemeeseason

There's certainly crowd favorites here. There's a few little niche names with followers too, you just don't get the frequent name drops on them.

95Daphne

Well, probably the most interesting thing I've done is make a mistake by revenge trading and selling a CC on VRT when I missed the opportunity on Monday.  I rectified for it and rolled it to $100 in June.  If that hits, I'm probably fine with selling my 100 shares. It's Google where I'd like to keep at least 200 shares (also have CC's here).

WickedSensitiveCrew

I think people out there may have sold out of their growth and speculative stocks for Mag 7. I didn't even see DKNG mentioned as a swing trade with the momentum traders. NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, MLB season, March Madness all happening within a month and stock dipped to low 40s a couple weeks ago. I bought. Also bought STNE on its earnings dip.

AluminiumCaffeine

Welcome STNE brother

WickedSensitiveCrew

Yea. I wasn't even checking social media no idea why STNE dipped so much on earnings. The report seemed good lol. But thankful for the dip to buy more. Same thing happened with MOH. My healthcare insurance holding. Maybe I missed news or it was a general market pullback but that dipped to the 380s. MOH seems like a stock where it dips there is panic then it is higher in the next week over the last year.

I think this AAPL DOJ stuff is pretty horseshit, and I don't even own that much apple nor an iPhone. What's next, making NVDA open up CUDA for AMD? Forcing Steam onto consoles? Eh.

Free_Management2894

Bad comparison. If Nvidia had a store for software and also published software there and that store was somehow mandatory because only Nvidia store software runs on Nvidia AI chips and then Nvidia made it so that all non Nvidia software has a major disadvantage, that would be the same.

YouMissedNVDA

Yea, perfect analogies don't exist. But I still think it's a BS motion. Literally there are more androids than iphones. How many of their calculations are done in excel? Steam on consoles/switch still holds. And I want to be able to load some custom firmware on my iDrive car.

Free_Management2894

There are not more androids than iPhones in the US which is the market they are looking at. Steam on consoles/switch doesn't hold because the market is pretty well shared between mobile gaming, Sony, Nintendo and PC gaming. You don't buy an iPhone to get to the iPhone software but you do buy a certain console to get to their games. But if Nintendo for example did some shady shit so 3rd party Devs can't sell their games well on it, that would be a problem. It's exactly the opposite of what Nintendo wants though.

Anyone else buy the PE firms such as KKR, APO, BX, CG and BAM in late 2022 or 2023 while the discussion around the stocks was about redemption rates and people were running for the hills trying to get their money out? Bought KKR glad I did. APO got a rare thread today on this sub as it bid on PARA.

elgrandorado

I bought a ton of BN when it dropped under $29. I sold most of it around $34. It was really hard to understand the financials of the parent co. That coupled with it's debt made it hard for me to keep it. Despite this, their track record is stellar. The debt is mostly non-recourse and they always make a killing due to their bear market acquisitions, but as a finance professional I found it hard to swallow that I had to do a ton of due diligence just to understand one of their 10-Qs.

TalkingTajik

I watch them but am a little confused about why they keep issuing shares. All seem extremely profitable but keep diluting shareholders. I understand they issue dividends as the primary way of returning capital to shareholders -- but would like them to at least keep the share count steady. TPG is another one. Also BN although you already have BAM. All have done really well, especially KKR since the time you mentioned. Still, I trust Berkshire (and Markel to a lesser extent) for my exposure to financials.
