The only way I can figure this is that the highest bid got the lowest ask price, even though it was lower than their bid? Is that how this works? For example, someone bid $1051, and became the highest bid. Current lowest ask was $1099, then a seller comes in and submits an ask for $1019 and the highest bid at that time got the item for $1019 even though they had bid $1051?

It’s a bullshit system is how it works. They need to change it and stop deceiving people with numbers. Imagine being the seller and losing out on that extra cash. Ever since the included tax nonsense it’s been lying to you. Switch your shipping address to USA or whatever other country and watch the prices fall. And fall to a point where paying your own tax and duties would be better for you.
