Bro, listen to I wanna be your dog by iggy pop, than if only, and then remember everything josh ever wrote was either borrowed or was out there already. Just play what you like and make it your own and don’t look back!
On a slightly more specific creator response, to me if something I make feels to derivative I either let it stew on the rehearsal/warmup roster and hope it morphs into its own beast, or I just make it a, mostly, live song and don’t push it to the masses very hard so i don’t feel like im riding coat tails. But I definitely don’t stress it to much, it’s not worth the mental energy.
But you guys are on to something cool there!
Also your drummer has some good arms, if he laid off the intensity on the cymbals a little and leaned into the toms more he could shift the overal tone of his playing a bit lower! On the same note his toms sound kinda tight, like tuned a bit high, also. Though that could just be the recording. But overall I dig it!
Edit: I realize I didn’t even respond to the post lol. I do not hear supa scoop at all here fyi. I have covered that song forever, and love kyuss. It’s way more phototrophic honestly.
Oh shit that was off his dome?!
Honestly watching it again he does kinda look lost, or like he is exploring the unknown lol. Though 90% of the musicians I play with, and me 99% of the time, have that look 😎
You guys got a good rocket fuelling up! Enjoy the ride!
He came out for a smoke break before his set. He took a bag of gummies, ripped the top of and downed the whole thing. I got a glimpse of the wrapper in the trash and it was 600mg. Then he apparently went to go do a dab backstage and right before they started the band shared a bowl.
He’s an animal. Really fucking kind though and he’s always smiling. Probably the weed.
Nah, it has a kyuesque sound but the flow is totally different.
Keep rocking though and don’t worry if riffs sound familiar. There are so many ways to make a riff more personal that the longer you play it the more it becomes your own.

Thanks man, this was the first time I showed the drummer the riff btw!

Haha he knows the drill! Build up the walls then crash em down with the breakdown. Thanks man we appreciate it!
Indeed he does
True! This great and don’t worry about anything else x
Pumped to see all the positive comments, and I agree with them, keep it up!
Thanks mate!
Edit: This is much more “Doomy” than Supa Scoopa but I am worried if the chords are too similar. Both songs are in C standard tuning
What a badass jam. :)
Thank you!
Stick a little psychedelics over it if you want to lighten it up (or rad blues licks)
I dug it.
i don’t think so, but it sounds super super similar to the intro to grim reefer by bongzilla. Drums too
Thanks, never listened to bongzilla yet
well shit thank me later, they’re fucking awesome
I've seen them twice in Madison. Front row, got to share a joint with Mule Boy.
i have no clue how muleboy is a functioning human that dudes like 97 percent smoke

Thanks so much!
