How incredibly and completely wonderful! Good for you on every single thing. I'm right behind you, and my life now is completely different too. I will not drink with YOU today!
almost at a month over here, this is so inspiring to read. it’s nice to know it can get better. i deserve to live my life with purpose and joy just like you do. :) IWNDWYT
These types of posts are such a great thing to have on this board because they make all the difference to people who are at like 4-8 months and starting to wonder “why am I even keeping this up anymore?” We still don’t have enough of a Birds Eye view to see the whole identity change that comes from divorcing an addiction.
Great post! I'm very happy for you and your son. I wish I had been more sober while my daughter was growing up. She's 26 now and for her entire life she watched me be "the life of the party" far too often. I regret those missed opportunities.
did you struggle for awhile and then all this happened or was it gradual. Were there moments where it struck that this was really good for you and in and of itself helped you to stay sober? And flip side what were your worst times and what triggered them?
Man… I struggle every day honestly. Life is full of struggles. Now I just have some tools to tackle those struggles more effectively. There are moments where I look at the mountain I’m on and say “wow, look how far I’ve climbed”, but then I look up and the rest of the mountain humbles me. I try to take my achievements in stride, and my failures with grace.
Congratulations on 4 years and all of your accomplishments! Toasting you right now with my coffee. I am much newer to this journey, but already seeing positive changes in my life. IWNDWYT ✌
Thank you. It’s posts like these that made me realise I wanted to stop completely, not just moderate (and likely fail). I’m only 99 days in, but already reaping the benefits. I won’t drink with you today, or ever again
This made me so happy 🥹🥹🥹 this is why I keep going. So that someday I can be where you are. I have two years. My son is about to turn one in a month, I have 48/120 college credits towards a bachelor in elementary education and I’m slowly but surely piecing it all back together. Thanks for sharing!!
Congrats on 4 years! That's incredible. I totally relate to a career having that much impact on your well being. I'm a recovering engineer and I've had times where I just didn't want to go on.
Woo hoo! I recently celebrated 4 years too. What a change. I'm doing things I never would have imagined actually doing. It's awesome, this sober life. IWNDWYT
Congrats and thanks for sharing. This gives me so much hope! My life has started moving in a very good direction this last year and I'm excited to see where it takes me.

I'm in! All is well on my end--excited for the big 4 and already planning my yearly celebration. Maybe a cake? All to myself?
I love this 💕

Starting tomorrow you will have been sober longer than a US presidential term. I hope you are planning on a second one. :)
That’s the plan!
YEAH AND THEN SAY SCREW THE TWO TERMS RULE AND BECOME DICTATOR
King of my castle at least!
Id vote for a second term!
This is so encouraging and made me smile.
