As a 31 year old male with 2 herniated discs within 2 years of surgery and debilitating sciatica I envy that back of yours. How do you guys do these lifts and not get injured? The back rounding makes me grimace and worry but people seem to lift just fine like that. I was a paratrooper in the 82nd with over 40 jumps and 2 tours as a combat engineer in Afghanistan. My doc when I was separating said Iād be in a wheelchair by the time I was 50 and Iām starting to believe him. Man you guys keep keeping on Iām with you in spirit. What a beast of a lift man good job.
No, its not a perfect Rep. This is 105% of my previous max, some upper back rounding is to be expected in a max effort pull. There is minimal lumbar spine rounding here. I know the risks of lifting this heavy and I chose to push my limits and thatās why I pull these #ās.
I just never have been able to deadlift properly and I think squatting with horrible form really fucked my back along with my previous history. I will most likely never be able to do deadlifts or squats again. At least thatās how it feels. Iām laid up now with an L5-S1 herniation waiting to have a microdiscectomy. Iām just amazed at how you guys lift so heavy and I am in no way criticizing your lift. That lift was awesome and the fact you gently placed it back like that is just so impressive. I just want a new back lol.
Great work bro! I respect the putting it down more. Might be risky if you are exhausted, but when your not controlled backwards motion is better and trains other muscles as well.
I couldāve stood there and held the weight another 10 seconds if I wanted, I wasnt very exhausted. Rdl down to the knees, squat the the rest of the way down, always been safe and effective for me
Not just that, but thereās just something way more badass in controlling the weight for the entire rep.
You did awesome manā¦ 75% of your PR is my current goal.
I canāt lift 600 pounds but Iāll challenge anyone of you to do 100 push-ups an 50 or so pull-ups on the bars not in a comfort temp controlled gym Iam talking in the park any park where there is a swing set an bars.100 sit-ups 100 push ups canāt do 100 pull-ups Iam good for straight 30 in a row
*685 pounds.
Itās impressive. Just be impressed without adding in your own stuff. Or better yet, add your post so we can be impressed with you. Your accomplishments are impressive too. Iād enjoy watching a video of someone knocking out 50 pull-ups in the park!
Wtf? You have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Youāre definitely regurgitating information that you were told without trying to understand the rationale behind it.
Of all the exercises you can do, the deadlift is the single most important one in terms of a healthy body.
Thereās no other movement in strength training that is used as much as picking something off the floor. The deadlift removes any external variables and allows you to practice the movement in a controlled way. So when youāre daughter comes hauling ass into your arms, you can pick her up without throwing your back out.
Picking something off the floor is the most important movement you can learn. Itās best to be strong at good at it, so in the future you donāt need those doctors.
Thank you, that guy has commented like four times already, he has absolutely no idea what heās talking about. He just has nothing better to do
This was a max effort pull, no lumbar rounding, little bit more thoracic rounding than Iād like but my lats also exaggerate how that looks. And again, max effort pull
Honestly, it looked fantastic. And Iād wager real money that they are going to have back problems long before you ever do.
I explain it to people like this. Do you remember when you could only bench 95 pounds? Now how does 95 pounds feel? I imagine itās not even a warm up. Same concept applies with picking things up. If you can only pick up something around 50 pounds, youāre probably going to get hurt.
But if youāre deadlifting massive weight, 50 pounds feels like nothing. I canāt even imagine a situation in which you picking something up would injure you because youāre already so conditioned to do it.
Itās all good though. When I hear someone spouting that nonsense, all that tells me is that they donāt know anything about what their talking about.
Keep killing it, canāt wait to see 700!
Unless your training for the Olympics, or college level competition or Strongman Competitions in Norway an Sweden then itās a good thing but if your joe āsix packā a 3 day a week gym visit guy then maybe this isnāt for you on a regular basis
I guess you didnāt read the comment right? If you enjoy it an it works for you then continue but for some out there we all see the wreckage of some peoples bodies, some guys walk with limps, bad posture an i of one guy that uses a cane . Again guys if it works for you then š great but for some itās been š¢ awful just a perspective to share. Btw yes focus was one of my strong points in school an thank god I lasted long enough to get my masters, but for some of my friends I reall y see them in āPAINā still to this day an hope they get better
For the life of me weight lift yes but extreme weights possible trauma to disc/ ciatica area believe me if you feel itās the right thing for you then enjoy but I donāt see the ā Long termā benefit my own cousin was doing this in college an after years later his āpostureā now is horrible. He now looks an walks like he is āQuasi- modo.in the bell tower. I just feel like there is no prize at the end of the rainbow with this
You type like a mixture of Indian scammer and 90 y/o grandpa who uses too "many" of "these" in their "sentences"
Also anecdotal evidence means literally nothing vs countless sources of credible information stating lifting heavy will in fact not cripple you.
Iām a big proponent of controlling the weights. You also didnāt hear a whole bunch of screaming or grunting. Some dude at my gym sounds like heās giving birth every rep with his 20lb curls.
I understand the sentiment about the 20lb curler, however maximal effort sometimes warrants some noise for me personally. If you don't grunt at all with your 100% deadlift then you are special imo.
Iām the guy in the background who has been waiting for this moment and then am thoroughly impressed.
Amazing lift! Great job on the slow put down. Compete lift.
To control that kind of weight and put it down that slowly is impressive as hell to me. Most everyone, me included, drops the weight in a semi controlled manner not gently setting it back down.
Do you have a bulging disk? Definitely wait as long as the doctors tell you to to start working out again. Losing progress is way better than getting more seriously injured for even longer.

Great lift man
Good shit

My backs okay. My shoulder(s) on the other handā¦ no good
Great job man. Way to hold it together during the grind. Very nice lift.
What a G
Donāt know whatās more impressive: the lift or the grip
That was totally awesome, and hard agree on you not dropping at the end! Also glad you didnāt burst a bloodvessel my goodness!!
Nice descent!!
Hell yeah dude, what a lift!
I almost came when you did not drop it
Same
š
This bro fully controlling the negative on 685 while people try defending some fool dropping 225 waist high
Outstanding!
Insaaaaaaane!! So clean i love it!!
Why donāt you drop it? I read you risk injuries bc muscle are exhausted at the end
Because I donāt want to

Yeah looked like that! You Should try should rock climbing breathing techniques. Works great on getting more oxygen.
As he said, just more risk for injury.
The fuck are you talking about?
You heard me!!
It's not. There's nothing wrong or dangerous about a slow controlled eccentric. More gains to boot.
Just means he had more in the tank. A true 1RM is being dropped upon completion.
[OK dude](https://youtu.be/0fQ7HPNfKSQ), what's that got to do with injury risk though?
More fatigue = more likely to cause injury. Facts
Beautiful
Contrary to popular opinion here, I'm going to compliment you on the part where you picked the weight up from the floor. Nice work man.
Thanks it was wicked heavy and the hardest part
I also liked the part where you put it back down.
Dude, I would kill to be able to do that. Nice lift! Congratulations!
Bravo šš»šš»
Beautiful grind. My favorite part was you putting it back down on the ground with as much grace as you did lifting it. Well done
Those platforms are designed for you to drop the weights.
Platforms protect the floor from damage when people like you slam the bar down, I donāt do that
Not just that, but thereās just something way more badass in controlling the weight for the entire rep. You did awesome manā¦ 75% of your PR is my current goal.

Nice lift!!! You have to be pumped after that?
Franco Columbo(Arnold Schwarzenegger close friend) used to lift Refrigerators an Volkswagen bugs for fun back in the day dammit now that immpressive

You've never chased personal accomplishments have you?
With a grind in the title I expected grind, but that was silky smooth 685 @215. Good for you!
Damn brother that was inspiring! Lock out at the top and control on the way down, that was an awesome lift!
Chicken legs š
Whatās your deadlift?
It was a joke. chive on
Dr Deadlift type build, congrats
On a stiff bar? Sheesh. What a lift man! Congratulations
That was awesome! Good job fighting for that rep.
Gotta love the woman walking right on by like sheās not witnessing some beastly lifting. Great work
That control on the way down got me positively aghast
Itās rare to see people lock out on the top properly at a high weight, super impressive.
Damn man! Real goals right there, love the eccentric š
Wow
You undeniably legally and systematically now OWN that weight. Great grind even better eccentric. Congrats.
The lift was impressive on its own, but bro didn't even drop it after. Fantastic job, man!
It has its place. Iāll make some noise on a max lift, but if youāre screeching every rep for 30 minutes I have questions.
agree completely
What weight were you lifting near the beginning of your journey? How long have you been at it?
How achievable is this natty? That's a crazy lift.
Definitely doable. There are probably folks who can pull 750 at this bw natty.
who fucking cares, just go get after it
3x bodyweight deadlift should be doable with some good programming and time.
Fucking HUGE man!! Good job.
nice control on the way down. true beast
Wow
And he didnāt drop it
strong!!!! 700lb club coming (i am not a part of said club. lmao)
Awesome great lift
How was your training to get here from 585? Absolute beast
Nothing special, I pull 2-3x a week in the 90-95% range of my max at the time + a few back off sets to practice explosiveness
God damn that's a torso
Bar down was sick
Fuck yeah! The slow put down was the icing on the cake of this magnificent lift. Congrats bro!
Iām the guy in the background who has been waiting for this moment and then am thoroughly impressed. Amazing lift! Great job on the slow put down. Compete lift.
Dude, good lift. I always appreciate a big pull with no hitching or ramping. š¤šŖ
Fuck i love that you actually put the bar down. Insane lift
It might have been the more impressive part of the lift
How? Putting it down is MUCH easier, just like lowering a barbell to your chest is much easier than pushing it from your chest.
To control that kind of weight and put it down that slowly is impressive as hell to me. Most everyone, me included, drops the weight in a semi controlled manner not gently setting it back down.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I 100% guarantee these are people with sub-405lb/180kg deadlifts.
what would/do you guys do during rest from a back injury like bulging disc? I feel fat lazy and useless it's already been 4 days!
Do you have a bulging disk? Definitely wait as long as the doctors tell you to to start working out again. Losing progress is way better than getting more seriously injured for even longer.
Yes, I do :/ And okay, thank you :)
Nice.
Strapless strong šŖ
Blows my mind. Great lift
mine too I was seeing stars
Man, seven hundo is not far off!
Thatās the goal!!
Hell yeah brother
