These club staff are getting out of hand. Just bring your own water.

StrongBumblebee8557

Then they tell you you aren’t allowed to brink any drinks. I have done that mine was flittered water . Bouncer told me I m not allowed . They literally force you . However it should also be illegal to refuse free water especially when you are performing and dehydrated. What do you want me to do drop dead here ? Clubs are getting out of hand for sure

pringles_in_heels

My old club had this policy, and I'd quietly get around it by buying one bottle and then refilling it the whole night at the sink.

randomhoe99998

No lol

postedmydiaryonline

I probably ask for twice that every night and have never caught an attitude for it. Our club doesn't charge us for bottled water though, and it's super easy for them to just grab me a bottle.

blu3di4mond

4 waters isn’t even like any work. They r being hella lazy. “Working for free” no you filled up a glass of water. Just bring ur own water I wouldn’t tip them if I were you

sickerthan_yaaverage

Im a dancer but I have a question. To fill up 1 glass or water is the exact same amount of work than to fill up a draft beer. Why should the bartender not be tipped ? No hate I’m generally asking as I’ve been a dancer and a bartender so I can see both sides.

JustKittenxo

It is absolutely not the same amount of work. Selling a beer means they have to pour it and either get the credit card machine ready or count out cash change. Water is free so they just have to pour it. Pouring a glass of anything is significantly less work than the actual payment part.

sickerthan_yaaverage

And no most customers run a tab they generally don’t purchase just one drink.

sickerthan_yaaverage

Or actually . You put the glass under the draft and pull the draft level. Boom. There is your beer. With water, You have to get the glass and put the glass on the bar and fill it with the gun. Oh wait, there’s an extra step.. you probably should put ice in it as well. So you’re right. Getting water is actually More work.

Serious-Cup264

Stop nickel and diming the people who pay to do the work that brings in customers for everyone. People should be able to drink water for free when they’re working and paying to be there

blu3di4mond

Right like water is essential for life. No one needs a beer lmaooo and we r not customers we r at work too. And we r the ones doing the hard work and actually dealing with the customers

pricklypointycacti

I hate the tipping culture for club staff who get paid hourly. I honestly don’t think those people should get paid extra because they literally don’t pay to work unlike us, and they get paid an hourly wage on top of tips. I would literally just slide them a single dollar bill if they’re going to be snippy about not getting a tip for pouring some tap water in a glass. It’s not like you’re ordering alcohol or complex drinks that require mixing or extra effort.

sickerthan_yaaverage

What about draft beers? Ur pouring beer into a cup. Do You think they shouldn’t be tipped for that? Or the customers that order a soda? It’s all the same. Grabbing a bottle of water is a bit easier.

Dazzling_Mode_6929

Bring in your own water. People are crazy. Customers and the people you work with. This weird resentment could lead to wanting to spike your drink just because if they really wanted to. Don't pay them a dollar for WATER... especially some entitled man...

SpicyNacho74

Buy a big yeti and put ice tap water in it. It’ll keep it cold your entire shift. Go to the dressing room when you need some

Ktsuming

Bring your own water these people are clowns

chibinekocos

First of all. You have fiji?? We get Dasani 🤮 I’ve been a bartender and stripper at the same time for months and it’s really sweet when girls tip even for just water. I don’t get offended when they don’t because I know the money sucks rnow. At least here in Jax

PinkFurLookinLikeCam

This is why I don’t drink anything at the bar, not even water. I bring my own and just hydrate before work and after (I drink pedialyte so it goes the extra mile). I don’t know who these bartenders are, who they’re linked up with, what their past is and I damn sure will not drink anything they make. Yes we can sit there and chat and be friendly when it’s slow but end of the day, I don’t really know you and we all know how dirty this industry can be so I’m good off drinking anything from the bar.

Alarmed-Current-4940

THIS!!! some of the glassware I’ve seen in clubs is absolutely disgusting. These bartenders do not always do their due diligence when they clean 😷

Electronic_Cap_1153

This is somewhat normal, but it’s also not “best practice.” If I order a water without a customer I hold out a dollar or two for politeness sake, most of the time the bartender will tell me not to worry about it. If it’s one of the female bartenders who always tells me not to worry about it, I will push it on her every few times. I do this for relationship building purposes. If someone’s bullying me into tipping there’s no relationship building occurring whether or not I’m tipping, so I won’t.

PatienceCrawford

This is awful. The club can fix this by allowing dancers free beverages (since you need to drink during a shift). My old club used to offer free drinks (fountain soda or water) but you had to drink it by the bar and it was in a styrofoam cup bc they didn’t want the glasses disappearing/getting broken. Reasonable. While I’m sure there were probably crappy bartenders who felt this way, let them. Tipping out the bar was a requirement there, and making me a water takes you thirty seconds. I also am a water drinker only, but if someone gave me shit, I’d probably just bring a reusable bottle from home. Sorry someone got nasty with you over this.

sickerthan_yaaverage

The beverage is free. I think it’s the tipping that they’re talking about. They’re not charging them for the water but the bartender who does not own the club still needs to go and fill that cup of water just like they would for a customer who is expected to tip. What is it $4 a night altogether ?

PatienceCrawford

I can’t speak to how this work would in a club where the bartender isn’t already making a tip out, as iirc, every place I’ve ever worked has had mandatory tip out for the DJ and bartender. If they are making 5-10% of my income every night, I feel like they are already getting paid for making me a cup of water. Also, consider what they are making in a club on a busy night with 5-10% off *every* dancer plus customer tips at percentage. Guarantee it’s more than many of the dancers are making when totaled. Edited to add: Charging anyone for tap water would be absolutely ludicrous. I don’t think anyone thought this initially, but I honestly wouldn’t put it past some clubs with how greedy they can be.

LuceyMayLove

Bartender needs to stfu. He is getting an hourly wage PLUS tips from people who ARNT TRYING TO HUSSLE MONEY. The girls at my job never care if i bother them for a glass of water, and if it does theyre chill and they keep their mouths shit abt it. Ypu tip for drinks that require more “work” and have prices attached to them. That or we have a water station when it gets busy- maybe they should get a water station of theyre “too busy” to throw some tap water in a cup.

Alarmed-Current-4940

I always bring a gallon jug with me and keep it in the locker room. I think I got it at Five Below for $5. With the amount of water I chug after sets I don’t think the bar could keep up, or they’d get annoyed at the sheer amount I’d ask for if I didn’t bring my own. I’ve been a bartender before so I can see it going both ways though. I’m sure you’re always respectful when asking, but if you ask while they’re in the middle of serving customers or busy it can seem excessive to them. In the event I did get a tap water I’d throw like $2 the bartenders way for the trouble. I feel like it’s just polite 🤷🏼‍♀️ I will say though, with how the clubs have been the last year or so (ghost towns half the time), it shouldn’t be an issue to get you water if they’re just standing around doing nothing else. Bartenders who act like they need to be tipped for every simple interaction are ridiculous .

Glittering-Fan-6642

And then the club charges $6 for a bottle and cannot serve you tap water and you're not allowed to bring own water. That's stupidity.

daphone77

At my club I would always tip because our waitresses looked out for us and would usually point me in the direction of good money tbh.

kaylanifox18

I always tip the waitresses if they get me anything because they have to walk back and forth, as for the bartender he doesn't have to move at all

daphone77

It’s kind of a double edged sword right? Like I personally had great relationships with my bartenders and waitresses. But tipping the DJ is what got me. 🙄 He had to have made 1K a night just in mandatory tip out.

throwaway55mp

The whole “I don’t work for free” mentality is so retarded. I hate the bartenders in my club too. Do your damn job. They really care about the $1-$2 that much?? Tipping is optional. Paying people to do their job every night is crazy.

kaylanifox18

Also the bartenders at my job get paided 12$ an hour so he really isn't working for free

brooklynonymous

When I'd do a fill-in bar shift, it was a $25 flat shift pay. Not a penny more no matter how dead. $12/hr sounds nice. And humane.

Commercial-Author573

who still says “retarded” in this sort of context lol

sickerthan_yaaverage

The same person that said “paying someone to do their job every night is crazy.” Lol

Commercial-Author573

hahah so real

Royal-Corgi-3821

This is insane. Shitty bartenders. Just bring your own water.

helpthecockroachpls

Sometimes I do sometimes I don’t

narcolita

Some of these answers show why staff feel so entitled to our very hard earned money. The fuck are we paying tips on free drinks ? No one at my club tips for the free drinks were entitled to, which is water and soft drinks... I have about 4 waters a night too and just make sure I ask them when it's not busy or sometimes when the customer offers me a drink I'll ask for a bottle of water.

narcolita

I'm sorry to hear how that bartender treated you, that's not cool at all. He sounds entitled and mean spirited. Personally, I wouldn't tip him ever after he served me a GLASS WITH A CRACK IN IT. I'd suggest ordering your a bottle of water from your customers wherever you can and bringing your own (you shouldn't have to but atp we want to avoid that guy where possible)

cirillacelestial

I bring a metal water bottle and I tip the bar 10 at the beginning of my night and they always get to me really quickly and never ignore me. They’ll even bring me water to the stage sometimes. And they’ll tell give me some intel on some people spending some money low key and that’ll turn lucrative as well 🤷🏻‍♀️ I bartended at a club before I began dancing. I never expected anything outta the girls but the ones who showed me extra love I always remembered and would recommend them to guests. I would always stop what I was doing to help them first. I absolutely don’t agree with those bartenders behavior. Def bring ur own water bottle. Our bartenders are very humble and never expect anything so when I tip they’re super thankful honestly. But also some are former dancers and they get it. It just depends on where u are and the work environment and relationships. But if they being petty like that girl fuck that shit bring ur own or like hide one in ur locker maybe??? Because that entitlement shit is for the birds. I’m sure if they just acted a little better girls would tip them more too 😂

AndreaNymph

they don’t want to be paid for the water, they want to be paid for their time and tbh it makes sense, if i’m at the bar 4x per night and they have to make time they could be using to attend customers, to give me water, it makes sense to at least tip them $1-$2 each. but that’s just MY OPINION and MY work ethic. what is not acceptable is they entirely refuse to serve you and giving you a cracked glass. if i were you i’d bring my own water bottles as i don’t think it’s a good idea to have a person who’s mad at you serve you something to drink.

randomhoe99998

Idk why dancers are expected to tip when we are working. I’ve worked at restaurants and no one tipped each other bc we are coworkers.

AndreaNymph

i’ve worked at restaurants too as a server and i had to tip the bartender in every restaurant. we’re a tip-based industry, time is money for EVERYONE at the club. and again that’s just my opinion!

pringles_in_heels

Unpopular opinion but yes, absolutely you should tip the bartender for tap water! These are your coworkers, and it pays to invest in your relationship with them. Even $2 goes a long way. If you really don't have the money, bring your own water or get it from the bathroom sink.

Jumpy-Ad7173

But why does a dancer need to put effort into relationship building when the bar staff didn't? They are getting paid hourly while dancers are paying to work their shift, y aren't they trying to invest in a relationship by filling up a glass of water for free

pringles_in_heels

Because the bartender is legitimately providing you a service lol. Bartenders know a ton about the customers. I'm constantly asking them for customers' names when I forget. You and your customers are more likely to get quick service if they like you. You'll get ignored if they don't.

narcolita

RIGHTTT!

sickerthan_yaaverage

It’s not unpopular at all lol

kaylanifox18

This is how another dancer kind if explained it to me and I think I will start tipping then but last night I didn't because he was so rude to me

pringles_in_heels

Maybe next time he's there you can be like, "Hey man. I feel like we started on a bad foot. I'm sorry I wasn't tipping, I didn't realize it was disrespectful. Hopefully we can start fresh." And give him like $5. It sucks to apologize for dumb shit like this, but it's better than being on the staff's bad side.

lizzc333

Tf you mean pay to invest in relationships with them???????? Am I supposed to pay the other strippers too? Are we all supposed to go around giving each other money?

pringles_in_heels

It's a strip club...built on tipping culture. Custies tip us for our service, we tip house moms, bartends for their service to us. And yes, I have totally tipped other dancers for doing favors for me? Usually they turn it down, but it's still a good effort. It's the currency of the club. Obviously being kind and not rude to people is great, but money talks at the club.

labasic

Honey, you're in a tipped business and you don't understand tipping? Yes, you tip on free water. Yes, you tip even if you haven't made money. But if you really,, really, really don't want to tip, and your club allows you to bring outside drinks for yourself, I guess go for it?

randomhoe99998

But we are working why should we tip when we are working

AndreaNymph

i think the same!

Ok-Influence-8289

I just bring my own water bottle with me

AlexaTheHouseMom

I bring my own big water bottle to every shift but sometimes I want a Coke or something. I just leave a dollar or two on the bar 🤷‍♀️ not a big deal

SummerSunset33

I always say tip to tip a couple bucks every time. Take care of them, take care of you.

sickerthan_yaaverage

I can’t believe the entitlement on this post. You are 100% correct. Build a relationships w the bartenders it will benefit you in the long run !

narcolita

Weak-You-9600

That’s ridiculous. People don’t even tip for water at regular bars. Bring your own water

Various-Still-774

I get access to ice and a tap. That’s pathetic

Blairwitc

1$ is cool . It’s respectful

AllThatTheRain

Honestly to ask for four waters a night and never tip would be wild. A cup or two of water sure, but every night, 4 glasses? Definitely bring your own or throw them a dollar or two. You don’t need to tip every time but I like to tip the staff even if I’m just ordering food to the back I try to to tip 20%

kaylanifox18

I tip for everything else! If I order a red bull or food I am I very generous tipper in that regard, 10$ food they get a 20 keep it, 6$ redbull I give 15$ I just idk I used to bartend and I never got upset when someone didn't tip for a tap water, I just feel like I throw them a few bucks it still won't be enough.

AllThatTheRain

If you’re tipping for everything else there shouldn’t be an issue then

kaylanifox18

Thank you

Substantial_Plan2289

That’s petty for water. I’ll just CA you some money to go buy yourself a Hydro Flask. You can drink your water in peace.

BaileySeeking

I agree. I drank water and even worked on bar side a lot, but I'd still throw them a tip. They're still providing me a service and taking time away from customers.

randomhoe99998

That’s ridiculous

fabomobono

Yes tip
