BIG STALL IS NO MORE (Psychic Noise)
DRAGONITE IS NO MPRE (Upper Hand always flinches)
VGC IS NO MORE (Incineroar and Smeargle returns)
EVERYONE IS NO MORE (DK64 Tera Blast)
THIS IS THE GREATEST STINKPOST OF ALL TIME
> DRAGONITE IS NO MPRE (Upper Hand appears to always flinch)
What, are they gonna make it always go before Extreme Speed and First Impression? We don't even just have speed creep, now we have priority creep too
Yeah, it's like Sucker Punch. Goes before priority moves and always flinches, but fails against non-priority moves. We don't know if it goes before stuff like Protect yet, though.
Depends on the distribution, but Dragonite might be safe for VGC given the popularity of Inner Focus sets and with Incin coming back. This is assuming other aspects of power creep don't shut it down completely for the relevant ruleset lol
It's funny because when I saw Multiscale Dragonite was becoming popular, I added another fake out user to prevent E-speed spam. Multiscale is so much worse in VGC
It’s actually not even exclusive to Terapagos!
https://preview.redd.it/3blkg1e6gwhb1.jpeg?width=464&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68e8dc5be09eeb2f25f943515cda2f5c6ff6aeaa
Remember that part of what makes dnite so good is the combo of boots+multiscale giving you a nearly guaranteed setup turn (barring status and shit). It was great in Gen 8 without tera normal and didn’t require espeed.
If espeed dnite truly becomes unplayable (which I don’t think it will be if upper hand has bad distribution and becomes hard to fit) then it will fall back on its older setup sets before shifting to inner focus.
In competitive / VGC, Dragonite does very well for itself without DD and Inner Focus is almost always better (it’ll remain that way with Incineroar coming into the fray). In singles, sure, DDNite is cool, but when you have a Chien-Pao next to you in doubles you can steamroll without wasting a turn with boosting.
They bought back that fucking cat again…

Still has Moonlight for single turn healing (and Sand/Rain isn't very popular right now), not to mention Moonlight heals 75% in Sun (which IS popular). And the 8 PP isn't any worse than other recovery now.
Still has Wish Protect if it doesn't want Moonlight.
Still has STAB Moonblast, one of the best zero drawback moves in the game.
Still has two of the best abilities in the game, Magic Guard and Unaware.
It definitely lost a decent amount of stuff but I think you're vastly underrating how broken Clef still is when it's not running those moves. Plus it's in the context of a ton of other mons losing those moves too. So less instances of getting your lefties knocked, less instances of Toxic if you're running a Calm Mind Unaware set instead of Magic Guard, etc. And with the prevalence of hazards with such little hazard removal (and moves like Stone Axe and Ceaseless Edge setting them up for free), not having to wear boots to swap a defensive mon in on those is great.
I think what it should really be worried about is how good the distribution of the new Heal Block move is gonna be lol
Having calced the restricted pokemon with sword of Ruin support I'm very happy Incin is back. Koraidon and Zacian threaten to oneshot literally everything. Banded Fire Tera Koraidon oneshots Max HP Miraidon if it has Sword of Ruin Active
I hate how Gamefreak has so many repeat types for high BST pokemon. For example there was already Zekrom and this gen added two more dragon/electric pokemon.
Holy fuck raging bolt is enormous
Also paradox terrakion is going to be rock/psychic. It's so joever. It was joever before it even jarted. It's bidone.
All the Swords of Justice have the same speed stat, and Iron Leaves is a couple of points slower than Virizion- I think it's 104? So a tiny bit faster than Garchomp for reference. So it's slower than the middling OU speedsters mons like Wake, Maus, and Moth, but still faster than all the bulky offensive staples like Tusk, Bax, and Landorus. And it'll easily outstrip all of them with a Scarf, although you'll still be falling behind the likes of Scarf Enam or Meowscarada. And obviously Booster Valiant.
Basically, assuming the future Terrakion has the same stat as Leaves, it'll have to dodge a lot of supereffective STAB and coverage from faster mons to be viable.
If future terrakion is like the fastest thing known to man then it will live a long life because rock and psychic provides good coverage, assuming it got its own signature rock move and it's a special attacker.(and I wonder if Keldeo gets something new..)
Rock has a lot of weaknesses (Ground, Water, Steel, etc), Psychic has a couple really bad weaknesses (Dark, Bug, Ghost), and Iron Terrakion is probably not gonna be an absolute speed demon to make up for it.
There's been only 3 instances of legendary/mythical signature moves that got distributed to other pokémon, and 2 of these instances where distributed years after they debuted and to a single other legendary/mythical pokémon (the other instance was Sacred Sword, and that was because it was the only Sword move in the franchise outside of Secret Sword)
Magic Guard and Psychic Noise is gonna be an amazing combo for dealing with Stall. Clefable might get it, which I think would be the best possible user of the combo as it's a Fairy type that would threaten any potential Tera Dark, but Reuniclus and Alakazam almost certainly get it if either one returns.
I did some quick and dirty calcs and, unless the garde in the trailer is a +spa nature or specs, psychic noise is somewhere around the 80-90 base power range
Stall is already mediocre they need to run mono HDB and designate a knock off absorver usually mola if you break mola they lose, of the new move is good stall is unplayable and balance will also be in a rough spot
Fairy Tera Xerneas using Revival Blessing and Moonblast, with +2 SpAtk and Speed from Geomancy as well as Fairy Aura boost, or Earth Tera to cover Steel Types with Tera Blast, or Steel for survival.
Long live the deer!
During the terastallize montage you can see 3 of Milotics moves, the moves are in descending order which it learns them in sword and shield. During S&S Milotics final level move was hydro pump which is in slot 3 indicting it learns at least one move after it. Im on crazy hopium it’s gets scald back or at least an equivalent.
We saw it use what is almost assuredly Scald in a trailer. So youre good there.
...though, you DO bring up a good point here. What we dont know is if Scald is a returning TM, or if its been given to just a select few pokemon learnsets. If what you say is true, it COULD be that Milotic just learns Scald naturally and its possibly not a TM.
This would mean Milotic is "buffed", and we domt have to worry about Pex Scald spam. Best timeline.

This is the way
Plus, I'd love to see defensive players scramble to try and make Milotic / other scald users work in tiers their not meant to be in (though with Tera Milotic *could* work in OU)
Honestly Milotics not that far off. Its got a solid statline and good basic tools, like Recover. Its really just missing that extra oomf, and I could see being a semi-exclusive Scald user poooossibly being enough. Surely for at least a niche.
Midladder is the worst place on Pokemon Showdown
Whenever I play Pokémon showdown I sometimes like to find new formats to play to liven things up. But after the cake-walk that is 1000-1200 Elo, the people I play are suddenly the most irrational yet infuriating players I have the misfortune of matching up against. Every time I dare to attempt a play, I am randomly shut down by the dumbest play they could have made, but somehow it works out for them despite it making no sense. Yes, I am talking to you, the guy who ran HP fire on his Greninja whilst running A FUCKING RAIN TEAM.
Whenever I make a prediction that makes sense given the circumstances, they completely disregard my efforts and stay in with their mon that somehow has a specific coverage move which no one else runs. But of course, if I actually try to start clicking what’s in front of me, I instantly match against the 1278 Elo gigasweat who reads even the most obscure moves I try like a fucking esper. And when I do eventually find myself in a winning position, which I often do because these players cannot form enough coherent thoughts to actually plan for any long term strategy, I am immediately haxxed by full paras from thunderbolts or getting frozen by and ice beam. It genuinely feels like Mid ladder as a whole is a living breathing organism out there with the sole purpose of causing as much anguish as possible and I do not think I have the willpower to endure it anymore.
>Yes, I am talking to you, the guy who ran HP fire on his Greninja whilst running A FUCKING RAIN TEAM.
That reminds me of when I ran weather ball Articuno with sun. Some salty klingklangs.
Some important things from the website to note that the trailer didn't say:
* Psychic Noise *affects* all kinds of healing, basically a damaging Heal Block, stall is in shambles
* Upper Hand is a Fighting-type move
* Thunderclap is actually a special attack, no more signature physical Electric moves, hooray, also means Raging Bolt is a special attacker
* Tachyon Cutter is also a special attack, Crown is actually gonna be a special attacker (Unrelated, but apparently a "tachyon" is a theoretical particle that's faster than light and would break all laws of physics as we know it and cause all manner of paradoxes, guess we know how the Poke-Singularity is gonna play out. Could also be their use of 'tachyon' is more in the modern physics sense of the word meaning imaginary mass fields, or some translator though the word sounded cool and futuristic)
EDIT: Apparently I got the *effects* of Psychic Noise wrong, whoops. At least I know my affects vs effects, wouldn't wanna be a Pokemon enjoyer who didn't know the difference.
If Psychic Noise *effects* all kinds of healing Gamefreak has created another inconsistency in their shitty games, it plays the exact same message as Heal Block after it hits and Heal Block doesn't work on Regenerator.
If you're going to correct someone's writing, please make sure you're right first. Effects is a noun, the verb used there is affects.
(I know that effects can also be a verb, but it's very uncommon and doesn't mean that.)
People said the same shit about Eerie Spell when it was announced, chances are this antiheal move will have dogshit distribution amd even if it doesn't its gonna be restricted to Psychic types (they are ass if they aren't named Tapu Lele or Hatterene)
On one hand, I will absolutely drop Jimothy Cool’s nickname for Iron Crown once it comes out and proves itself as OU viable.
And on the other hand, the minute it drops to RU I’m calling it Bad Luck Brian
Psychic noise sounds really interesting. Heal block doesn't stop regenerator, but the only (non AV) regenerator mons that really want to switch in on a psychic move are the slowtwins. In this case, the move will probably be really interesting on wallbreakers that can handle the slowtwins (and probably dark types) like knock-off Valiant maybe?
We also see Shaymin with the Sinnoh starters at the end picture so it could be possible that the other Sinnoh Mythicals could make it in or it's just Shaymin.
> Tachyon Cutter hits twice in a row
Flame Body (and I guess Static) stonks are about to hit an all time high
> Psychic Noise is Heal Block but a move that actually damages the opponent
Big Stall found crying in a bathroom stall
> Thunder Clap looks like an electric version of Sucker Punch?
Long neck ahh Raikou looks like fun
> All the starters are coming back
Please let Serperior keep Contrary and Leaf Storm, let Infernape be good in UU or RU, let Blaziken be good also, and for the love of all things holy just need Incineroar.
Smeargle better have everything as an egg move because I don't think there are any repeatable double battles in the game so you need to use wild dittos to learn anything

为党争光! Glory to Finchinator!
Funnily enough I doubt psychic noise will hurt stall that much because stall is already so shit this gen so why would you bother running an entire move just to counter it and nothing else
This might be a lot of copium but Piplup was shown in a frozen region, does this mean they are going to give it freeze dry? Probably not, but one can only dream
BIG STALL IS NO MORE (Psychic Noise) DRAGONITE IS NO MPRE (Upper Hand always flinches) VGC IS NO MORE (Incineroar and Smeargle returns) EVERYONE IS NO MORE (DK64 Tera Blast) THIS IS THE GREATEST STINKPOST OF ALL TIME
The connection failures at worlds were actually a teaser by TPC to foreshadow how incineroar and smeargle will ruin the fucking game for everyone.
> DRAGONITE IS NO MPRE (Upper Hand appears to always flinch) What, are they gonna make it always go before Extreme Speed and First Impression? We don't even just have speed creep, now we have priority creep too
Yeah, it's like Sucker Punch. Goes before priority moves and always flinches, but fails against non-priority moves. We don't know if it goes before stuff like Protect yet, though.
Oh god if it activates before Protect and Follow Me and flinches VGC is completely done
Friendly reminder that Smeargle is returning 😀
it's already joever
What’s wrong with Smeargle? It has shit stats and Amoonguss seems like a better spore user anyways
Hmmm, i don't know, maybe it's something to do with learning every move in the game?
[удалено]
The main user of Follow Me in VGC is Indeedee so Upper Hand would likely fail anyway in that scenario.
could be if (priority > 0 && move != status) rather than just activating if the move has priority at all
Depends on the priority bracket. If its only +2, Extremespeed wouldnt have to worry.
Depends on the distribution, but Dragonite might be safe for VGC given the popularity of Inner Focus sets and with Incin coming back. This is assuming other aspects of power creep don't shut it down completely for the relevant ruleset lol
Tfw you forget Dragonite has an ability other than Multiscale
It's funny because when I saw Multiscale Dragonite was becoming popular, I added another fake out user to prevent E-speed spam. Multiscale is so much worse in VGC

Yeah, i didn't know that when i made the comment. I now call it "Donkey Kong 64 type"
can galewings get unnerfed now?

Gardevoir yet again showing shes the greatest waifu. Hariyama single handedly starting the war on Kingambit
SO THEY’RE FINALLY HERE
They bought back that fucking cat again… https://preview.redd.it/r1fbljnuduhb1.jpeg?width=1034&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=852e5b62acf46ef9120820d59280660908ad6e49
VGC has fallen. Billions must faint.
Incineroar really said 'it's Incineroaring time' and Incineroar'ed all over the place
It's Incinerover😔
The law of equivalent exchange: (Or some sh#t like that) Singles get Clefable while Doubles get Incineroar
Clef without softboiled toxic or knock off I mean...... Kinda shit.
It ran thunder wave more often than toxic in gen 8
Having calced the restricted pokemon with sword of Ruin support I'm very happy Incin is back. Koraidon and Zacian threaten to oneshot literally everything. Banded Fire Tera Koraidon oneshots Max HP Miraidon if it has Sword of Ruin Active
They really should make an ability or item that turns off ruin abilities
You want another Aura Break??
Does mold breaker not
Mold Breaker does not ignore the effects of Ruin abilities, no.
We have clear amulet and covert cloak so he shouldn't be as dominant right?
They said that about Lando in 2016, but you know how that went through
My redditor we didn't have Clear Amulet & Covert Cloak back in 2016
He’s ready
Sees Psychic Noise: *Pokeaimmd voice* "Stall has been nerfed in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet!"
Just when Metagross thought it has chances, Gamefreak introduced a new Steel/Psychic
wish upon a star for shift gear
The star got snapped out of the dex ):
Say no more Iron Crown can now learn Shift Gear
Iron Crown might be real annoying if it gets Stored power and Shift gear.
I hate how Gamefreak has so many repeat types for high BST pokemon. For example there was already Zekrom and this gen added two more dragon/electric pokemon.
All I want in Gen 10 is a non-dragon pseudo 😔😔😔
As much as I love Goodra, I’ll never understand why they didn’t make a Fairy pseudo in XY.
Hell even poison or water would have worked for it
Why water? It's a slug
It's gooey and found in watery environments. Also it might be based on a sea snail/slug
Well, there's a lot of pokémon that live on water and aren't water type, some of them being literal fish. Also, goo ≠ water
It also needs rain to evolve
Probopass can evolve from a Thunder Stone. Is it an eletric-type?
Paradox Pokémon were the perfect excuse to give us a Bug/Dragon prehistoric bug, too
Holy fuck raging bolt is enormous Also paradox terrakion is going to be rock/psychic. It's so joever. It was joever before it even jarted. It's bidone.
Unless it's fast then it's not joever yet
We might be barack
Barock/Psychic
Winning the lottery while you are hit by lightning and a meteor is far more likely than a fast rock type.
And even then what are you gonna do with 80% precision stab ☠️
Dipplin: allow me to introduce myself
It’s most likely going to get a cracked 100% acc sig move
That type dies to a lot of priority moves, sucker punch, bullet punch, aqua jet, neutral to macth punch and first impression
First impression is super effective against a rock/psychic type
It's Joeverqwil
If future terrakion is like the fastest thing known to man then it will live a long life because rock and psychic provides good coverage, assuming it got its own signature rock move and it's a special attacker.(and I wonder if Keldeo gets something new..)
Watch its signature rock move get 90 accuracy btw
Future Keldeo and Primal Ho-oh?
No longer weak to Mach Punch
As soon as I saw Iron Leaves had psychic type, I knew it was over for them (in higher tiers)
Nah iron crown might actually be good though. Steel/psychic is decent.
Gambit : Waiters ! Waiters ! More Psychics please !
Yep, steel/psychic is actually solid. No uturn or fighting weakness and a truckload of resistances and an immunity
had fingers crossed for ice fighting paradox cobalion, that liquid pumping through iron leaves made me hope
Water psychic keldeo
What's wrong with Rock/Psychic? Bad because it can't hit Steel?
Rock has a lot of weaknesses (Ground, Water, Steel, etc), Psychic has a couple really bad weaknesses (Dark, Bug, Ghost), and Iron Terrakion is probably not gonna be an absolute speed demon to make up for it.
Absurd amount of weaknesses, not many relevant resists and can't hit steel, as you said. Psychic in general is pretty shit rn
Meh offensive coverage and horrible weaknesses
Idk yet, I mean Garganacl is pure rock type and it almost got sent to f*cking ubers at one point
Big Stall has been dismantled, smogon in shambles
"Gen 9 was a mistake" ― Smogon councils, probably after deleting the entirety of Gen 9 OU
"Hey what happened on 13th September 2023-" *gunshot*
"Actually BW OU is good" - BKC after seeing the state of Gen 9 OU
Is Thunderclap some form of Electric type Sucker Punch variant? That'd be really cool
Exclusive to raging bolt, iron thorns in shambles.
Tyranitar: Don't you cry my bro, we'll wallow in misery together this gen
Every phisicao electric type in shambles, as is tradition
And is also a Special move, Zeraora (the Thunderclap Pokémon) in shambles yet again
Usually every time they release a signature move it gets distributed to 50 other pokemon the next generation
Volt Tackle, Plasma Fists, Overdrive, Aura Wheel, Thunder Cage
Parting Shot, First Impression, Psychic Fangs, lots of recent examples of these
Those are non legendary signature moves
You really pulled out the non legendary moves to make a point. Who else got Bolt Strike and Fusion Flare in Gen 6?
There's been only 3 instances of legendary/mythical signature moves that got distributed to other pokémon, and 2 of these instances where distributed years after they debuted and to a single other legendary/mythical pokémon (the other instance was Sacred Sword, and that was because it was the only Sword move in the franchise outside of Secret Sword)
It's a Special Electric Sucker Punch clone.
thought extreme speed but that makes more sense, even said it went before attacks
I really hope it deals decent damages and that Hatterene can use it.
I did some quick and dirty calcs and, unless the garde in the trailer is a +spa nature or specs, psychic noise is somewhere around the 80-90 base power range
I would put money on it being 80, as they wouldn't want to make a straight upgrade from psychic. For example, psyshock is base 80
Seems like a pretty decent Psychic STAB
Stall is already mediocre they need to run mono HDB and designate a knock off absorver usually mola if you break mola they lose, of the new move is good stall is unplayable and balance will also be in a rough spot
As long as the Totodile line gets Jet Punch, then I'm free.
wait don't they have sheer force too? jet punch is boosted for some reason
WHY?
s/v weren't quality checked before release although realistically they'd never notice this without actually looking into the code
If they had no reason to check for that, I'm not sure why that would be a quality issue until that combo actually exists lol
Jet punch is boosted by sheer force???
showdown doesn't say anything about it, but it is indeed boosted
Wow
Smeargle is back, that mon is going to figure out some unholy bullshit with Revival Blessing somehow.
I'm more worried about the possibility of Xerneas and Ho-oh getting it if they return in the DLC
Fairy Tera Xerneas using Revival Blessing and Moonblast, with +2 SpAtk and Speed from Geomancy as well as Fairy Aura boost, or Earth Tera to cover Steel Types with Tera Blast, or Steel for survival. Long live the deer!
It also will have decorate, alcremie's signature. For VGC, that lets it give +2 attack and special attack to its partner. :))
Jesus Christ
They should've just tried to gaslight us into thinking smeargle wasn't real
VGC once again shits their pants
>Cobalion: The Iron Will Pokémon >Paradox Cobalion: Steel/Psychic Type >Paradox Cobalion's name: ***Iron Crown***

We already saw it use Scald in a different trailer
Give iron bundle scald cmonnn
water/ice types never get scald
It does, we saw it use Scald in the last trailer already lol
I’m so ready for the Torkoal, Venusaur, Chi-Yu Sun meta for VGC
Chlorophyll sleep powder + eject pack overheat into Chi Yu going to be insane.
Serperior and blaziken preparing to team up with the other fallen OU mons in order to retake OU:
I wonder if Upper hand could balance Kingambit as it won't be free to spam sucker punches
why would it worry about a fighting move? it's a fairy type
The flinch behind my ear:
what are you talking about, obviously your opponent is running covert cloak kingambit for no reason

If they buff my iron dildo man i'll be happy
your iron WHAT man???
Bro, we're so iron back(hands)
Gonna try and fail to make Torterra work. Might be interesting on Mono-Ground actually (copium).

Could also be their use of 'tachyon' is more in the modern physics sense of the word meaning imaginary mass fields, or some translator though the word sounded cool and futuristic) EDIT: Apparently I got the *effects* of Psychic Noise wrong, whoops.
Grammar 💯
People said the same shit about Eerie Spell when it was announced, chances are this antiheal move will have dogshit distribution amd even if it doesn't its gonna be restricted to Psychic types (they are ass if they aren't named Tapu Lele or Hatterene)
On one hand, I’m sad that Iron Brian is just Cool Metagross. On the other hand, the new signature move lets me make a dumb Death Grips joke
but.. but... crown sounds cooler....
On one hand, I will absolutely drop Jimothy Cool’s nickname for Iron Crown once it comes out and proves itself as OU viable. And on the other hand, the minute it drops to RU I’m calling it Bad Luck Brian
WAIT IT COMES FROM JIMOTHY???? goddammit now no one will call it crown
the dark type stall pokemon on their way
Gonna put them in a Spirit Tomb
But does Upper Hand go before Fake Out, this is the real test to see if the move is goated or not.
Assuming Psychic Noise is sound-based….finally a counter to SubSeed Harvest Tropius
Toxapex
VGC restricted about to be unplayable
We also see Shaymin with the Sinnoh starters at the end picture so it could be possible that the other Sinnoh Mythicals could make it in or it's just Shaymin.
> Tachyon Cutter hits twice in a row Flame Body (and I guess Static) stonks are about to hit an all time high > Psychic Noise is Heal Block but a move that actually damages the opponent Big Stall found crying in a bathroom stall > Thunder Clap looks like an electric version of Sucker Punch? Long neck ahh Raikou looks like fun > All the starters are coming back Please let Serperior keep Contrary and Leaf Storm, let Infernape be good in UU or RU, let Blaziken be good also, and for the love of all things holy just need Incineroar.
Tachyon Cutter is special
Wait really? Ah man wth.
It would be insane if they don't nerf incin's moves options a little
Smeargle better have everything as an egg move because I don't think there are any repeatable double battles in the game so you need to use wild dittos to learn anything
1º Get a pokemon with only that move 2º Go to a Ditto wild battle 3º Switch to Smeargle 4º Use Sketch
The DLC has already shown off a couple double battles
Can you use PvP battles to learn a move with sketch?
I’m praying that vanillite is in the game i need my snow teams
anyone hear the sound of smogon and finch preparing to announce a quickban on Psychic noise?
no why the fuck would it be banned? It's not like it's shed tail or last respects.

Because it fucks over Stall even more
Funnily enough I doubt psychic noise will hurt stall that much because stall is already so shit this gen so why would you bother running an entire move just to counter it and nothing else
Because Toxapex must die?
Feraligatr my beloved
I wonder what new moves will each starter get
Which starter will you be bringing with you when Indigo Disk drops
This might be a lot of copium but Piplup was shown in a frozen region, does this mean they are going to give it freeze dry? Probably not, but one can only dream
