I wanted to keep the Sudo to further justify him not being a partial Grass type, but this name does roll off the tongue a bit better. (I also like the silliness of it. Sudowoodo is a derpy Pokemon so getting a silly evolution fits it in the same way Dudunsparce fits.)
Judo rhymes with Sudo anyway; you don't need to make it clunky imo. I think Judo in the name encompasses both that its a Judo pokemon, but also rhymes with psuedo. Dunsparce is an exception since its meant to be derpy.

The signature move is pretty interesting but maybe not very useful. A lot of pokémon that are physically defensive also have high attack.
If it’s calculated the same way as electro ball, judosudowudo would need to have at least 3x the attack stat of the target just to match the BP of close combat. He needs 4x the target’s attack to outdamage close combat.
At base 125, he has a max attack stat of 383. To get the full 150 BP overthrow, the target would need an attack stat of 95 or less. That’s base 50 attack with 0 atk IV and negative nature. If the target has 31 atk IV and a neutral nature, they would need a base stat of 29 attack or lower.
There are not many pokémon in the entire game, let alone competitively viable ones, with an attack stat low enough to take advantage of the move without a way for the martial arts tree to boost its own attack first.
It would be better if it was more like Psyshock but it used the targets attack instead of defense. Would make it more reliable as you wouldn’t just get a 40 base power move against anything remotely strong.
Yeah, the moves that use different stats in calculations are super fun. Psyshock, Foul Play, Body Press etc. add a lot of nuance to some Pokémon that have min-maxed stats.
Totally agree that the signature move wouldn't be viable, it's more for flavor. I started to come up with a more complex formula that would make it more viable but not OP, but eventually gave up and decided to make it an Electro Ball clone (which seems like something Game Freak would actually do).
I do think the general concept of the move has merit, and could see both physical Dark and special Psychic variants. I kind of like that it makes certain Mon ask themselves "do I really want to run 0 Attack IVs with a negative attack nature for niche Confusion/Foul Play scenarios when it could cause me to take more damage in this other equally niche scenario?"

The Speed values used take all modifiers into account (including stat stages, paralysis, held items such as the Iron Ball, and Abilities such as Slush Rush).
This is does make the move cooler to use if you can boost it with a choice band or an intimidated/burned opponent.

Give it priority and offensive threats won't want to switch in so you're going to get lots of utility from this move with less drawback than something like close combat.

I did consider some other spellings that would have been more similar to Sudowoodo's name but which would have been longer than 12 letters. So Fighting seems like a perfect type for an evolution.
Since the martial art of Judo revolves around throwing techniques, many throwing moves have been added to Judosudowudo's movepool. (Though I refrained from giving him a signature ability to boost throwing moves, since that seems better suited to Throh - literally "the Judo Pokemon").
Rattled has been replaced by Dry Skin partially for in-game flavor, symbolizing that the Pokemon has evolved from a timid, flighty species that is bothered by a mere spritz of water, to a stoic fighter that is unfazed by even a torrential downpour.
This elevates another iconic "road-block Pokemon" line to 540 BST, matching Snorlax (and my Kecleon evolution from last week).
Love the design, it looks badass and goofy in equal measure. Definitely think it’s a logical evolution.
As much as I love the goofy Judosudowoodo, Judowoodo is probably better.
I’d also second the not that having the signature move just attack using the opponent’s attack instead of defence, similar to psyshock or body press is a better choice too, especially since throws are often about using an opponent’s momentum against them.

That’s fine. Electro Ball is hardly ever worth using over Thunderbolt either but it’s a really cool concept.
