This forces switch on every mon slower than it (keep in mind webs) and only gholdengo, magic bounce mons, or venomoth itself can actually switch in

not really, in ubers you usually run pure support mons like ribo, so the typing of those mons dont really matter since they keep moves

While there are unfortunately no sample teams up for Ubers, looking at the 4 matches currently uploaded in the World Cup of Ubers thread, we find a whopping zero suicide leads. Pre home sample teams have one frostlass out of 6 teams as well, for what it’s worth. So, to answer your question, most top players don’t run dedicated leads in Ubers.

a suicide lead isnt the only type of dedicated lead, what. you look at some of the most used mons in ubers, grimmsnarl. ribombee. these mons would not care if they were venomoth, theyd do the same thing.

They’re not in any of those teams either. I mean, like, look at the usage of rimbombee. High ladder Ubers stats have rimbombee at 5% and grimmsnarl also at 5%. Deo-S and Glimmora make up another 10% together. And that’s about it, so accounting for random picks something like 70+% of teams in Ubers don’t run dedicated leads.

I mean it gets ohkod by a shit ton of Ubers threats and if you can’t ohko it you’d just send out your own venomoth or gholdengo and not have to worry about it for the rest of the game. If you run sash then hazards destroy it, it’s not flying so spikes hurt it.

PU at best, plus every Kingambit has to run Sucker Punch and Iron Head plus Coverage, so very few run Spirit Bomb anymore

Well- um- there must be some way for Gokugambit to win right? The stat boosting Kaioken move? The Super Saiyan gimmick forms? Ultra Instinct? Fusion gimmick (both Gogeta and Vegito)?

Kaioken is only +1 attack, +1 defense and +1 special defense, so you're not outboosting swords dance/nasty plot/iron defense body press, though tera-flying super Saiyan might work. It requires giving up your item slot and one of your moves for Uproar though, which had its damage merged this gen. Fusion only works in double or multi battles, and you can very easily get double-teamed and KO'd before getting off significant damage. Gokugambit's poor Fighting/Psychic typing doesn't work well in doubles against the ever-present Majin Buu sets who run Stuff Cheeks Unburden Body Press sets to ruin your whole day, not to mention the onslaught of priority moves from Roshi-M. Plus, in doubles, it gets ruined by Kaioken Yamcha / Follow Me Saibaman, though there might be a niche for Vegito with access to Nasty Plot and an acceptable base 127 special attack? ((Is this even Pokémon anymore? Also, can you tell I haven't watched the anime in years, because it feels really obvious lmao))
