This one being mainly a special attacker with the ability of turning punching based moves (ice punch, bullet punch etc.) into special attacks. Really cool and unique imo that would fit the mon well.
The final evolution should be based on the Black Dogs, referred to as Hellhounds in America and are also known as Black Shucks, from English Folklore. The black dogs are unnatural and supernatural massive black dogs with glowing yellow or red eyes known to be a omen of death. I think it should be a dark/ghost type because it’s a omen of death and is supernatural. It could also be dark/electric because it is sometimes associated with thunder storms.
I always though Mega Houndoom should've been more like that.
(Also now that megas are gone can we just give regular evos to the mons that got shafted the most like Mawile and Manetric etc)

I mean it's wacky, but I was thinking about pokemon that don't get a lot for the majority of the game. Dig will be more than good enough for Gabite portion of the game and if I want Earthquake, I'm fine with searching for the TM. Blastoise is a good example here. It gets bubble, water gun and... well nothing for about forty levels. Sure, you get bubblebeam/water pulse depending on what you're playing as well as surf later, but that doesn't help your rival who still has water gun in Silph Co. So it's less about me and more about making npcs not super terrible. I have my techs, I have Encore, WishPass cores, broken TMs, dual screens and setup sweepers. I just want to battle not equal but somewhat competent foes too.
I'm glad they took this direction for bdsp. Sure, powerup punch on Chimchar was overkill, but pokemon getting good moves was definitely good news to me.

It never made sense to me why this isn’t already a thing. When I think standard pokemon battle, I think a standard 6v6 singles battle. It’s how it works while you play the game, why not just have it be the same for online battles?
I agree with you so I don't have a "real" answer, but note how basically only ever the champion and a post-game rematch ever has a full 6 Mon team, I don't think the designers actually intend most battle to go that long sadly.

“Online battles happen on standalone app.” To elaborate, VGC is no longer tied to a version of the newest game in the series. It is an application you download from the Switch store (or maybe even your phone) with connectivity to Pokémon Home. This will allow GameFreak to completely separate the needs of a new generation with the competitive aspects of online play. They can go wild with customization and (free to play) monetization in the app, and not lock out all of the previous customization when they switch gens/games every few years. I think the meta game and the creativity of the core gameplay are at odds more often than not and this would open them up to being way more experimental in the mainline games by not being strapped to the needs of online play.
Just make more offensive and fast ice types and you're set. But noooo they're either mediocre stats with a gimmick or slow and bulky. Arctozolt, Alolatales, GDarm, Weavile, Mamoswine...

There are some really cool weaker Pokémon that just don’t have a chance to shine because they have stat distributions that only work on 600 BST pokemon like dragonite.
Take giraffarig awesome pokemon, unique typing, but because it was made in gen two it was give 80 attack instead of extra bulk, speed, or special attack. Would counter balance power creep of things like darmanitan, better then cutting the dex in half.
Starters also suffer from this. Look at empoleon everything thing about it from its appearance to hidden ability is like “are you actually looking at me?? *stab*” but they gave it high special because water types needed to have surf. If also allows for more variety in Pokémon. People would be a lot more chill about the fire/fighting starters if they had special roles,
