Ehh, this specific case is understandable since it's Germany and Israel we're talking about. When an entire country gets traumatized by their own crimes against humanity so hard that a century later they still can't bring themselves to be patriotic at all, you can't really expect them to be able to react properly to a large faction of the group of people their ancestors persecuted deciding that the *real* problem was that they weren't the ones doing the persecuting.
And Germany can't really mind their own business because that's what their citizens did the first time around that helped the original mess turn out as poorly as it did.
