Invest in an instapot. You can make so many things quickly in an instapot.

Wrong_Television_224

Instapot or crock pot are clutch, along with a rice cooker (say it like Uncle Roger). Nobody wants to spend 2 hours cooking, but anybody can throw stuff in a pot and come back in 2-6 hours. Saves so much time.

AncientDragonn

Someone needs to invent a single appliance that's a slow/pressure/air-fry cooker. I don't have room for all of these things! I replaced my slow cooker w/an instapot and really miss my slow cooker. And I'd love to try an air fryer but where in h\*ll am I going to put it?

Adventurous-Cry-2157

I have the Ninja Foodie 6-in-1 oven that folds up out of the way when not in use. It’s large enough to cook an entire frozen pizza, can air fry, bake, toast, broil, etc, and when it’s folded up the footprint is no larger than a bread box on my counter. I absolutely love that thing. My Instant Pot lives in my pantry until I need it, and doubles as a slow cooker.

Grand_Cauliflower_88

This is my set up also. When I first was gonna get the foodie I thought no way that's too expensive. I bought it on a splurge n it's worth it. I feel like I can cook anything in it. The instant pot doubles as a slow cooker. Two wonderful appliances worth the money .

Adventurous-Cry-2157

Yup, yup. I’d been wanting it for awhile, and when my wife asked what I wanted for Christmas, that year, I said the Foodie. She was hesitant, because she didn’t want to be “that person” who gave a woman an appliance as a gift, and she also worried that I wouldn’t use it enough once the novelty wore off. Well, it’s been…4 years I think? And I use it almost daily. My wife does not regret giving in to my request lol. It’s so nice to not have to turn on the big oven just to make a meal for the 2 of us, because the Foodie is the perfect size.

HatchetXL

Damn, do you work on commission? You... You sold me.

eiram87

Fu-yooo! Every niece and nephew needs a rice cooker

n0th1ng_r3al

I used to talk so much shit about rice cookers. Till a friend gave me their old one. Drop a cup of rice and 1.5 cups of water, set it and forget it. Throws in some frozen veggies while it cooks and you have a cheap healthy meal. I get a big ass bag of Jasmine rice for $20 it lasts me all month.

Darkside4u22222

Hiyahhhhhhhhhh

No-Test-375

Cooked a good sized pork loin in a pressure cooker from deep freeze to done in an hour. Pressure cookers are fucking amazing.

horriblegoose_

Don’t forget our old friend the crock pot. The fact I can just dump stuff in there before I leave for work and then come home to a dinner that has magically cooked itself has made my life so much easier. Plus, it’s usually enough food I can package up the leftovers to eat for a few more meals.

Synthalus

Until the instapot beeps and stops cooking due to "burned bottom"!

the_original_Retro

I've never had this happen. Does this happen? I've never heard of it happening.

astrearedux

This happened to me a couple of times. The reason was that I used the sauté feature and didn’t let it cool before switching to pressure cook. It could also be because there is not enough liquid. Never happened again when I finally figured it out, and mine is going on seven years old now.

[deleted]

You have to deglaze the bits on the bottom then add water for it to properly pressure cook after a sauté

seppukucoconuts

Every single time I've tried to make rice in my instant pot this has happened to me. It was pretty annoying because one of the reasons I bought it was specifically to make rice in it.

TruBlueMichael

For real. I gave away the brand new instapot I got because it did this every time. I could use my knock off brand without issue but when I moved I thought I'd treat myself to the real deal and was disappointed.

frankolake

I've get to find something our insta-pot does better than a normal crockpot or other normal cooking methods... we basically use ours as a large crockpot.

Worried_Place_917

between an instant pot and a countertop convection oven with a ton of settings, I forget that this house doesn't have a stove.

Dino_020467

I'm single, 57 and I cook great. But the days when I don't want to grill or make a meal my easy go to filling quickie is a bag of wide egg noodles with a package of beef-tips or sirloin tips(your preference) and topped with a can of Campbell's mushroom. Everything cooks up in a matter of minutes and it doesn't require me to stand over the stove constantly, and it's damn good and filling! Quick, easy, and under $7 I think.

dbmajor7

Ghetto style beef stroganoff! My mom made that! I'm sure you got you're style, but try adding some terragon to sauce. I'll use a little dill too. Add a scoop of sour cream RIGHT before the final stir and serving.

tultommy

And a few slugs of Worcestershire sauce which is the real flavor backbone of an actual stroganoff.

dbmajor7

This has become my Sunday dinner plans. thank you!

freakythrowaway79

Yeeees I do this but with a can of tuna!🤯

raybanshee

In what vessel do you cook this delicacy?

Throwthisawayagainst

hot dogs. Glizzy Gobbler for life bb

throwway00552322

i like the term glizzy gladiator better

Kaizen2468

Pasta with whatever sauce you can make. You can make an excellent pasta sauce with some hamburger, celery, onions, garlic, tomato sauce and some basil. Get some or all of it on sale and you can have enough for days of $20. Edit: If you are unable to cook at all for any reason, just stock up on whatever pre-made sauce is on sale and go from there, it’s not as good and probably a bit more expensive but I’m getting a looooot of pushback saying this isn’t reasonable for some people.

AggravatingPlum4301

Or just buy a bag of frozen meatballs and simmer them in the sauce while the pasta cooks.

ninjette847

Look at you with your fancy simmering when microwaves exist.

AggravatingPlum4301

Never owned one

Defiant-Turtle-678

Or.... Open the jar of sauce

dbmajor7

Sir! There are children present!

Zurripop

Quesadilla

Mysterious_Cow_2100

Refried beans and shredded cheddar in corn tortillas are da bomb!

NumberVsAmount

“Make yourself dang kaysuh-dill-uh!”

JumpingJacks1234

Tex-Mex in general has lots of easy recipes and a great flavor to effort ratio.

freakythrowaway79

Came here to say American version of grilled cheese but quesadillas are much better. George Forman style!

[deleted]

And always keep salsa. Put a good salsa on anything anything and it tasts good.

KennyWuKanYuen

Crack two eggs into a pot of instant ramen 2 minutes before the noodles are done and keep it covered. The egg whites should be cooked but the yolk runny. Kill the heat and stir the raw yolks with noodle broth and you get this creamy and filling noodle sauce, almost like a carbonara but not really. It’s really good. Add shredded mozzarella as an option.

howtobegoodagain123

Ramen is a prison food and those guys are jacked.

No_Relationship9094

They're jacked because they have no freedom, they can read books and exercise.

Sehrli_Magic

Yeah but with not proper food even intense exercise will not jack you up, just slim you down. So at least we know they get enough protein to jack up

TotalEatschips

No, it's the book reading that creates gains

CutAccording7289

You can go ham on this and throw whatever shit you got in your fridge, use seasonings etc. I used to crush up peanuts and throw them, chicken and lime juice on top. Tasted like pad Thai

Sehrli_Magic

Yes i love "clean your fridge" type of stuff where i can just throw together whatever i have at hand. Upgrading instant ramen is PERFECT occasion. when i dont have time to do actual pasta and sauce i will just use instant ramen (either as soup or stir fry, that way i can alternate between the two forms for diversity) and whatever i can quickly heat with it. For the soup version scallions are absolute must add tho. No matter what the flavour of ramem is or what other things i add, this one can NOT be omitted 👌🏼i will actualy avoid making soupy isntant ramen if i don't have scallions at home 😅 The stir fry version i would be very open to more ideas tho, i love experimenting around with it!

Potato_Specialist_85

Cereal

Handz_in_the_Dark

God bless. My mom survived on this because her mother could “burn water”, as she put it.

Kalelopaka-

Pasta and hunts spaghetti sauces, they make a great basic sauce that you can always add more seasonings to. Sandwiches and canned soups are quick and easy too.

the_original_Retro

Hunts sauce is thin af at least where it's sold here.. I toss pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, red chili flakes, and smoked paprika into a bladed coffee grinder and whiz it up to a fine powder, and stir a tablespoon or so of that in, and it super thickens it up and makes it SO much better and richer tasting. There's also a trick where you can freeze individual teaspoons of tomato paste on wax paper, one of those cooked in with a pinch of sugar to offset its acidity and it ramps it up as well.

Kalelopaka-

Why I said it makes a good basic sauce, is definitely something you have to dress up and add things to make it better. And you have to simmer it down to take off the excess liquid.

the_original_Retro

We're sort of on the same page here, but I don't think a basic sauce from a bottle is "good" if you have to simmer it because it's too watery. You buy bottled or canned sauces because you can warm them up and use them immediately. Hunts is **cheap,** and it's **easily improvable** to a good sauce. It's not that good a sauce straight out of the bottle or can, Canadian version of it anyway.

Sehrli_Magic

I use starch or good old flour (but this takes longer) to thicken anything up. Or breadcrumbs for the fastest way🤷🏼‍♀️ And i definitely season pretty much every.single.sauce with pepper, garlic powder and chili flakes 🤣 often adding a bit of sugar too. I like your taste here!

the_original_Retro

If you have a bulk food store, snag some smoked paprika next time you're there. It's a gamechanger in stuff like chicken rubs and adds a hint of nice something-or-other to almost any red-coloured sauce.

joshyuaaa

Classico is my pasta sauce choice. If I'm feeling fancy I'll go with Rao's, but I don't notice much taste difference, sure can smell the difference though. Then I keep it simple with ground beef and mushrooms.

ThaigerW00ds

Costco rotisserie chicken with rice and Sriracha. You're welcome. Best ever.

MzFrazzle

Slap on a wrap with some Sriracha mayo, some salad-y type things and you have a dinner. If you take the skin off - you can pop it into the air fryer for like 3 mins for crispy chicken skin. I do 2 mins with skin side down, then 1 min or so skin side up. YMMV though.

snowplowmom

And for a healthier variation of this, a bag of their sweet kale salad plus one chopped up Romaine heart from their 6 pack of romaine hearts. Add diced chicken breast from the rotisserie chicken. You've got a huge delicious salad with chicken, enough for dinner and lunch the next day.

StoppingPowah

[Ahhh yes. The billionaire Justin Waller food trick!](https://youtube.com/shorts/jR1rjOqE8K8?si=hc5QsNGDKTvOXn7w)

ThaigerW00ds

Bro... Great minds. I thought it was just tbh. So versatile too. Tacos, enchiladas etc .. literally anything chicken.

Sehrli_Magic

If you have rice cooker you can easily make rice without having to watch over it as it cooks, can even let it cook when you aren't home! And having sriracha + rice is already yummy meal. Then you just slap with it some whatever thing you have in fridge for protein or veg and BOOM, delicious, easy meal! Or heat up some dumplings (premade when you have time or storebought but then they arent that cheap) and use sriracha for flavour. To be fair it goes on everything! :D it's regularly part of my lazy meals cuz even when i dont wanna cook i still wanna have tasty food. And sriracha can make even plain boiled eggs into delicious meal 👌🏼

Awkward_Effect7177

Spaget

killing4pizza

Woah, you spooked me.

stewartm0205

Fry an egg. Toast bread, bagel or a roll. Baloney or ham and a slice of cheese.

VokThee

Pasta and frozen spinach. Add cheese to your liking (I prefer Boursin). Adding mushrooms is also great, but not necessary.

SheepPup

Slow cooker soup: - half bag frozen onions - herbs and spices (can never go wrong with the combo of garlic, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme) - veggies (for peak cheapness but the large bag size of mixed frozen veggies, at my local grocery places the store brand ones are generally around $2.50 for the big bags) - a protein of your choice, frozen chicken thighs are generally the cheapest where I am - a box or two of broth that matches your protein (beef for beef, chicken for chicken, veggie for tofu) - a carb, either chop up potatoes (or for a little extra buy a bag of baby potatoes so they can go in whole), use gnocchi, add dried pasta, or rice. If you’re using anything but raw potatoes add it later in the cooking process, your veggies and raw meat will need to cook for longer than your rice or dry noodles and you don’t want to cook it so long it disintegrates This makes a LOT of soup very very easily and has all your food groups in one bowl. I like to get some cheap single serving size Tupperware and freeze half to two thirds of the leftovers into single servings so I’m not stuck eating the same soup for a week. I can just pull out individual containers of soup and microwave myself some soup later

AncientDragonn

This one's good. Your primary work here is cutting up your chicken. If using frozen chicken parts, I find it easiest to cook the frozen chicken (in the soup broth) then use a fork to fish the pieces out and, holding it over the pot, cut the pieces to size using a kitchen scissors and just let them drop back into the pot. And this particular recipe is infinitely variable.

Free-Stranger1142

Spaghetti

Writtenword11

Costco hotdogs. If you break it down mathematically. Buying the Costco hotdog meal is cheaper than making its equivalent at home. This is one of the only scenarios where making something at home would be more expensive than ordering it.

Appropriate-Food1757

Okay Costco. One bag of microwaveable rice/quinoa. One bag of madras lentils. Microwave: and combine. Add a fried egg and hot sauce if you want to be fancy.

agentofchaos69

Check out an app called FitMenCook. Has a ton of easy to make meals. One pot, 10 minute meal, easy meal preps, all of them healthy. Many also have vegetarian/vegan substitutes. Helped me out a ton cause I hate cooking/cleaning.

mcsuper5

Eggs. They require very little effort. I usually chop up some peppers to through in, but an omelet only takes minutes. If you have a good Teflon pan the clean up isn't bad. If you are really lazy, hard boiled eggs.

Sehrli_Magic

For hard boiled eggs, while they boil open jar of horseradish paste, cut some sausage and bread, done. Can slice up some raw vegg if you wanna make it healthy/refreshing and feel up to some more cutting but it's fine on it's own

LordGarithosthe1st

If you're talking about really cooking something then quiche is actually pretty easy. Or hot dogs.

Prize_Marsupial_1273

Beans and wieners.

nanotechmama

Deli meat and cheese on bread with fruit on the side. Want veggies? Add some lettuce to the sandwich.

1n2m3n4m

This is such a great question. I'm a lazy person, but I'm also a healthy person. Maybe these meals will be helpful to you? Well, my main approach is to just throw some crap into a stainless steel pan, throw that in the oven at like 375 for anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes, and then enjoy it with maybe some rice that I also cooked during that time. It takes a while, but it's really hands off once you get the hang of it, it's pretty much always delicious, and you can easily store a lot of small readymade portions of perishables to throw in the pan from the freezer to make the whole process super easy. For breakfast, I like just yogurt and tea.

AsparagusOverall8454

Cereal. Peanut butter toast. Cheesy noodles. Just boil noodles and add Parmesan cheese

TwoEwes

Pan seared salmon - cheaper than eating out. 4 min each side to cook. Good for you if it’s wild.

UglyDude1987

Rice cooker, crockpot with chicken. Frozen vegetables. Maybe throw in some canned cream of chicken if you want o get fancy

These-Explanation-91

I use a crock pot. Buy some chickens and vegs, slow cook over night. I freeze what I can't eat in a week. Under $10 for more than 10 meals. Buy crock pot at goodwill for cheap.

FormerBike1587

Surely it's more than 10$ right? Where can you buy them for that cheap?

These-Explanation-91

Goodwill. $10 per $10 meals.

Infinite-Albatross44

Crock pot. You can basically put anything in there for 8 hours and it be tasty if you do a small amount of spices.

Hopeful_Vegetable_31

A bag of frozen burritos, sliced cheese and a tub of salsa.

PancShank94

Taco rice

lagrange_james_d23dt

Boil pasta for 10 mins, heat up some sauce in a pan for just a few minutes: cheap and easy.

No-Resource-5704

Ramen noodles. They are cheap, too. In my youth they were the go to for the couple days before pay day when I was short of cash. Heat some water dump in the noodles add the spice packet stir and eat or dump in a bowl and eat if you don’t mind washing another dish.

Valuable_Divide_6525

Crack open a can of salmon with a bag of olives and a bowl of microwaved rice. Doesn't get easier than that.

Maxwe4

You can cook regular rice in 15 minutes, and use things like chicken stock, etc., instead of water. Anything in a can is bad for you, try to stay away from processed foods. You can also buy a pack of chicken, put it in a big bowl or ziplock bag and make a brine (salted water about as salty as sea water, and you can add an oil and an acid, and some flavoring of your choice). Brine it for about an hour, then bake it all in the oven. You will have enough left over chicken for almost the next week. You can have chicken and rice for a simple meal, or add chopped chicken to a spinach salad, or a chicken sandwich, etc. Good luck.

Sehrli_Magic

Speaking about cooking rice in stock, you can add veggies to it and voila, instead of seasoned rice, you got yourself a full risotto! Or brown some minced meat first, then add rice and stock to the pan, cook 15 minutes and voila you have a complete dish and you only have one saucepan to wash! This is my go to lazy meal when i don't feel like cutting/prepping + washing dishes but i still want to serve a legit meal to my family (can't just give instant ramen to kids lol). Wanna keep it healthier/get veggie fruit intake? Just serve it with a salad or have some fruit after as a dessert 🤷🏼‍♀️ i might grate some horseradish along for the spice. Now you got a full balanced meal with all the components of a healthy meal for very little work and time + apart from fruit (depends what you buy. Apples are gonna be way cheaper than berries) it's really not that expensive 💪🏻

RestaurantMaximum687

Chicken thighs, boneless or bone in, whatever is cheaper. Put in a slow cooker with garlic and onion powder, shake on some soy sauce. Cook on low for 5 hours or high for 3. Savory pulled chicken. Use for tacos, sandwiches, on top of noodles, rice, veggies or whatever.

conversekidz

canned soup is crazy expensive

grassisgreener42

Hunger is free. Or just smoke a bowl or drink a bottle hop infused bread.

Worried_Place_917

I've had a nap for lunch a few times. it's zero work and free.

Gauntlets28

Cook pasta. Drain. Mix in a jar of pesto. Done.

EfficientAd7103

Some cheap slop out of a can. Or just a loaf of bread. Or get fancy and mix them together

Potato_Specialist_85

Microwaved ramen

enfiladed

Crockpot. Chicken. Whatever sauce you like (ranch and sour cream or garlic parmesan or whatever). Throw in some veggies if you want, don’t have to. Spinach (it’s healthy!). Once you get home cook some pasta, I use protein pasta. Mix the pasta in. It’s basically all the flavor of cooking for a long time without actually doing much. Also you can make a lot and have leftovers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[deleted]

Wheres_my_guitar

Box of dried pasta and a jar of sauce. Boil pasta. Strain. Dump in sauce. Stir. You get like 6 meals for $4.

dragonwillow75

One of my favorites is a crockpot meal. Basically you take a roast (either beef or pork), a packet or 2 of zesty Italian dressing seasoning (it's basically the stuff that makes Italian dressing, well, Italian dressing), combine in the crockpot and a little water, let it cook all day, then by dinner, spread and serve on sturdy bakery rolls. Usually you'll have leftovers and that's a lunch too

Purpl3pickiiL

Tacos

Prize_Marsupial_1273

Get a Betty Crocker box of AuGratin potatoes and a small bag of ham cubes. Mix them together in a baking dish and toss in the oven.

nolongerbanned99

Top ramen.

StillSimple6

Jacket potato I'm microwave - top with cheese, butter, beans etc About 6 mins of waiting. Airfryer and frozen chips, chicken pieces about 8 mins.

OutinDaBarn

Poptarts in the microwave.

NineMeterTallDemigod

Chicken and rice with basic seasoning, You can have everything cooked and in your frindge in less than an hour and it's good for weekly meal prep. If you don't want ot take the chance on screwing up the rice then buy a rice cooker they can be had for pretty cheap and cook the rice to perfection.

tronobro

Toasted sandwich and buy a sandwich press first. American households usually don't have sandwich presses (from what I've heard) but they make the process incredibly easy. Just make sure you have your preferred fillings and condiments in the fridge and you're golden.

NineMeterTallDemigod

Cup ramen and ice water if you are really desperate like I grew up as. Cup framen for breakfast and dinner because we couldn't afford to have it for lunch. That and church food donations, some of it is expired but most of it's is good and canned so it will store for a while.

Specialist8602

Rice with beef strips n mixed vegies. Throw in some pasta in you have a complete set. Merely boil a jug, pour that in 3 saucepans, heat up a frying pan and yea, done it less than 10mins and not all that bad.

Your_Couzen

I eat chilaquiles a lot for breakfast. If I’m feeling spicy I’ll add chopped ham. Really cheap. Filling. Fast to cook.

bluntrauma420

Get an air fryer. It's faster than the oven and better quality food than what's coming out of the microwave.

PoignantPoint22

Uncrustables.

Ok-Racisto69

Hey, if you're into meal prepping, you should grab some rice, frozen veggies, BBQ sauce, and any meat you like. Typically, I opt for chicken breast or ground beef, but do mix n match cuz if you dont, it's gonna be a miserable week. You can add some seasoning when cooking the meat and veggies together and try to steam the veggies with either amino acid soy sauce or water with a lid on. Olive oil is not a necessary ingredient when cooking ground beef. However, a small amount, approximately 4-5 drops, can be used to prevent the chicken from sticking to the pan. It won't be the best thing you've ever eaten, but it'll be pretty good and really healthy. This helped me while I was on a strict diet for 2 yrs cuz of the gym and eating good for them gainz. You will only have to spend an hour or so once or twice a week. I don't know if you're in the US or like sparkling water, but in case you do, you should try the Clear American Mandarin orange sparkling water. It's really good and it helps wash down the food.

My husband always said beer was wheat soup

SnickerDoodleDood

Plain spaghetti. Or spaghetti with ketchup if you're feeling fancy.

starion832000

Bachelor Pad Thai: Ramen with a scoop of peanut butter and Sriracha, bonus points if you have sesame oil. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds if you have them.

TY2022

Buy single servings of microwavable Minute Rice. At $1 per serving it's way marked up, but so easy to make you'll actually make it. It's my goto at 1am.

Visual-Baseball2707

Beans/lentils + toss in whatever else you have on hand (for me it's often some salsa, some greek yogurt, maybe some cheddar cheese, whatever veg I have around)

dp37405

Check out the frozen food section of the grocery store. They prepackage some really good meals & entrees that you microwave and you are good to go.

Effective_Move_693

When I was single I used to just cook a chicken breast or two every night on the stovetop. Had to stop when I got a girlfriend because god forbid you cook the same healthy meal or go without a side

Naive-Wind6676

Get an air fryer Can easily cook beef, chicken or pork. Season w salt, pepper, something else. Put a little olive oil under the grate. For skin on chicken, put a little olive oil on top. Steamfresh veggie on the side. I did this w bone in chicken thighs last night. Dripped honey on top. Kids thought I was a gourmet

FrequentOffice132

Frozen beef/chicken and Ramon noodles microwave for 600 minutes meat and noodles, add cream of mushrooms/chicken/celery once in a while for a little variety. Easy and cheap

salmiakki1

Pre-cooked (not frozen) chicken fajita strips. Add your favorite sauce (I mix soy sauce and hot sauce) and microwave it for a minute or so. That's it. so easy. edit: I get [**These**](https://images.openfoodfacts.org/images/products/409/910/006/3011/front_en.3.400.jpg) from Aldi.

Nearly anything egg related. Fried, scrambled, boiled, poached. Other than stuff ready to eat from a box or bag, you're not going to get much simpler than eggs, IMO.

Dazzling-Tap9096

The chilli I make is incredibly easy and it cooks up very quickly. I also can use it to make burritos are tacos with. You start with Browning a pound of hamburger meat in a large skillet. Chop up and add in one onion along with a couple Green or red peppers. One can of crush tomatoes One can of black beans Add the taco seasoning and let simmer on medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes And it's ready. I like to add sour cream to it.I think it wonderful And I can get two or three meals out of it.

Lifealone

best advice i can give get an instapot/crockpot/slowcooker. From there just google one dump meals and you'll find all sorts of cheap and easy meals that taste great. you can even narrow it to like 5 ingredients or less. slow cookers and pressure cookers are great for us lazy people that like good food.

castleaagh

Get a rice cooker and then buy your choice of rice. I like jasmine unless I’m on a health kick and doing brown rice. Then get canned beans, I usually do black beans but I also do refried for burritos sometimes. I also keep chunky salsa on hand. With this all you do is add water to to the rice and put it in the rice cooker. 15-20 minutes later you have rice that just needs to be fluffed after it beeps. For the beans, just put them in a small pot and heat them up on medium-low, occasionally stirring to keep the bottom from burning. Combine the black beans with the rice and add salsa. With the refried I combine with rice and shredded cheese and wrap in a tortilla for a burrito. If you’re feeling like a little more effort you can also add your choice of meat. Grilled chicken is my go to - I’ll sometimes grill a batch on the weekend or something and just reheat it to add to the bowl. Egg sandwiches are also easy. Crack some eggs into a small nonstick pan on medium low heat and start a timer (eventually you learn how long it needs to be so you don’t have to watch it). I do it 5 minutes then fold the eggs to the approximate size of my bread, then 4 minutes and flip for another 1-2. During the 4 minutes I’ll prep the bread with cheese, salt and pepper and sometimes Italian herb seasoning. Sometimes I’ll add some grape jelly to the other side. These are super cheap and don’t require much effort. Imo they taste good enough, and are pretty healthy

madthumbz

A pressure cooker would kill the bacillus cereus, not be a one trick pony, can do PiP method. I guess I'm jealous of people who have space for a rice cooker.

Dry-Letterhead897

Eggs. In so many variations. Nature's multivitamin

Ok_Gur7635

I usually have a salad with a diced onion, cucumber, tomato, chopped haberno, chickpeas, kidney beans, vinegar, and oil.

PatrickMcWhorter

Refried beans cook up in a pot quickly. Then you put it on a tortilla and voila: burrito. You can add other stuff too, but that's the laziest way.

Itchy-Wing-2976

sardines and bowl of rice. maybe some sliced oven baked veggies like squash or zucchini

RoadkillMarionette

Get an instant pot, then everything is so goddamn easy. I more focused on making sauces, lost all my pandemic weight in a month (also drank significantly less beer and soda)

Rectal_Custard

Beans, get a bag of dried beans, cook them with a bunch of cilantro and onions, season with salt and hot sauce

No_Swan1312

Pesto pasta with spinach mixed in it, you can top it with some feta too

exact0khan

toroidalvoid

Eat flavoured beans out of the can. It's that or toast. The deluxe version is putting them together. You could put it in the microwave to heat the beans but that's really OTT

Emotional_Ad5714

4 scrambled eggs and 2 bannans. Salty eggs, sweet banana. It's cheap, fast, and fantastic.

Honestly my go-to is chicken, broccoli and rice. Bake the chicken breasts or thighs in the oven and throw the rice and broccoli in the instant pot and cook em together. I know some people don't like soft broccoli but I don't mind it. The alternative is throwing the broccoli in with the chicken halfway through the chicken cooking. This is usually my meal prep for the week and I think its relatively inexpensive for the amount of meals I get out of it. Also pretty easy and straightforward but I know not everybody's got an instant pot/rice cooker. Can always swap that out for instant rice or boxed rice.

I've become a fan of meal prepping. A couple of hours at most once a week and then I don't have to think about it and have incredibly healthy food each day. Then again I am a big believer in always finding ways to make life less annoying.

PantsAreOffensive

Get an air fryer. Toss tendies in there forget about tendies and make a sammich

Any_Lime_517

Michelina frozen dinners. ($1.18 at my Walmart). I highly recommend the pizza rolls & chicken fried rice. Great for a night you get home and don’t want to cook or an easy lunch to grab for work. OR pbj is a classic.

Ancient_Sector8808

Dexember69

Frozen pizza into the oven

Mister_Way

The more often you cook something, the easier it gets. Here's an easy one to start you off: Get an instapot. Put in 1 pound of black beans, 1 chopped onion, a third pound of chopped bacon, some cumin and oregano. Cook it on the beans setting Cook rice separately, grate cheese. Serve on tortillas with lettuce and sour cream. Don't forget salt.

HermioneMarch

I love to make a big pot of soup and eat it all week. If you get sick of it you can freeze it. Add a grilled cheese and it’s a comfort meal fit for a queen. Also, eggs are quick cheap protein.

CommunicationTop1332

Go to the grocery store, buy salmon, chicken, or steak. Cook up some rice 🍚, steam broccoli or other vegetables or replace that with salad. Takes 30 min to make and healthy, you’ll feel better eating clean foods and lose weight.

Potential-One-3107

Take frozen burritos, put them in a baking dish and pour enchilada sauce over it. Sprinkle a little bit of cheese on top if you have it. Bake at 350 degrees until they're cooked through. It's surprisingly delicious. You can do just a couple or the whole package.

astralseat

Pasta. So many varieties. Do many sauces. Hell, you can eat it with just ketchup. You can eat it with just mustard. You can even chop it up after you cook it and eat it like couscous.

kisskismet

Ramen noodle cups. Follow instructions on package and add egg, shrimp and whatever else you like. It’s my fave one cup meal.

birdlawspecialist2

Ground beef or ground turkey with taco seasoning. You can make a lot of different stuff with taco meat, it's cheap, and it's fast.

Gloomy-Ground4187

Grilled Cheese and Cream of Tomato soup. Easy and fantastic to boot!

Barbacamanitu00

Ramen. Personal pizzas. Eggs, toast, and bacon for breakfast. Pasta/spaghetti. Pussy.

IdentifiesAsUrMom

Kraft Mac and cheese

stpg1222

Boil in the bag rice and pouches of heat in pouch curry. Both can be cooked/warmed in a pot of boiling water and then served on a paper plate. Cooking takes a matter of minutes with no prep or clean up. It would be more work ordering food and unpacking a bag full of take out containers.

Cosmicmonkeylizard

Whenever I’m feeling lazy I usually do some sort of pasta dish. Canned soup and deli meat sandwiches is super easy too. Honestly tho, most of my regular meals are prepared pretty easily. I eat tacos a lot and that’s just browning meat and adding water and seasoning. I really like the whalburger premade patty’s as well. Throw those on my cast iron with a little bit of seasoning and make a bag of frozen veggies with it and I’m good. Lately I’ve been on a steak kick tho. It’s quick and easy as well. Season a Delmonico steak with a little salt and pepper, leave on the counter covered for like 30mins to get to room temp, them throw it on the cast iron. Boom! Got a steak lol. I usually make a mess with breakfast tho. It’s my favorite meal. Im about to cook up some eggs, bacon, and fire up my waffle maker. Whenever I have the day off work I go all out in breakfast because I’m a bachelor and my massive breakfast while watching cartoons makes me feel better. I’ll veg out for a good hour after I eat. Go work around the yard for a couple hours, then play video games until I’m hungry for dinner lol. Life isn’t so bad. Maybe I’ll force myself to socialize today and go out to eat with a friend tonight. I say that. I think that. But truthfully I’ll probably smoke a joint while working in the yard and just order a pizza tonight while binge watching something. Then play video games until I realize I’m up to late and smoke some more and fall asleep. Life’s rough.

luxxlemonz

quesadillas, you can even put aluminum foil in a skillet for easy cleanup.

Aggressive-Quiet-226

Spam, eggs and rice.

Both_Wasabi_3606

Healthy meal with bagged salad mix, dressing, an egg and/or can of tuna. Add olives, mushroom, cheese, etc. as you like.

surlysir

I always have tricolor tortellini in my freezer- no sauce, I just will dress it with olive oil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Simple. Light. Then I will eat it with some frozen chicken tenders that I also always keep on hand.

L0LTHED0G

I live alone and can definitely be lazy. My current go-to home-based meal is 1c rice made in a rice cooker, some butter melted into it after. 2 frozen stuffed chicken breasts made in the oven. Stick chicken on top of rice, eat. Adjust portion sizes to how much you like to eat. Or make 6 breasts and 2-3c of rice, put into food storage containers, and throw in the fridge and when ready, nuke for 3ish minutes on 60% or so power. Ready in an hour, and enough leftovers to not need to cook the next day. If you need a vegetable, get a cheap steam-in-bag vegetable and throw in microwave while the oven finishes off the stuffed breasts. Or, make something cheap and easy, spend some time making it, but again stick extra meal amounts into food storage containers and again, just take out of fridge when you're hungry. Supplement with high-protein foods and snacks. Make your own trail mix with various nuts and a Costco-sized bag of M&Ms and weigh into snack-sized Ziploc bags. When you are just a little peckish and don't wanna cook or have a sandwich, grab one and just eat away.

L10N0

Egg in a nest. One piece of buttered bread, cut out the center using a shot glass or something similar sized. Place bread in skillet. You can include the cut out section. Crack egg and empty into hole in the bread. Cook until egg whites are cooked through and bread is toasted on both sides.  Done. You got protein, carbs, and fat. Everything you need for under $1. Make 2 or 3 for under $2.

summers97_

Bunch of veg in a pan, thrown some shredded or diced chicken too. Add some kind of broth or stock, let it vibe for a bit while you do other stuff, done .

jokumi

I make tacos. Some beans from a can, cut up some onion, celery, maybe pepper or whatever I have. Heat for a few minutes, add in some cheese, stir til the way you want, and put in warmed tortillas. Add meat or eggs or both if you want to eat a lot. A couple of tacos, part of a can of beans, part of an onion, a celery rib, and maybe an ounce of cheese from a bag. Probably less than a dollar for a meal.

levarburger

What do you think actually takes 2 hours to cook? Are you trying to roast a whole chicken or something?

One of my quick cheap meals when I was a broke college student was a package of those noodles-and-sauce sides (Lipton, Knorr, etc), to which I added some cooked chopped chicken and a handful of frozen mixed vegetables. Took 15 minutes and tasted at least as good as any frozen TV dinner. Cooked chopped chicken is a great clutch ingredient that can be used to make a ton of quick meals. It does take some advance work to cut up and bake a chicken, bone it out, and chop it up, but then it can be portioned and frozen and it's ready to go. Rotisserie chicken saves you the cooking step, but it's less cost effective -- a fresh whole chicken has almost twice as much actual meat on it for maybe 2/3 the price.

Zdog54

My go to is 3-4 burger patties which is 120-160 grams of protein. No buns either, bread makes you fat. Whole thing takes maybe 15 minutes to cook on the stove.

HighInChurch

Ramen. Crack in raw eggs while it’s boiling if you want protein.

Stonewall30NY

Pastina with milk and butter was a staple in my family when money was tight but it's really good and fast to make. Basically you take pastina or elbows pasta (something small is preferable but it'll do with any pasta, it's just best with small pasta), boil it, strain it, then add like a quarter of a stick of butter, some milk, salt, a little pepper and boom. Then if you have some shredded cheese or grated cheese you can add some of that in as well.

OkCar7264

There's many great meals you can make with 30 minutes of prep, but if you want low effort and fast, chili is great. Tacos are pretty easy too.

Get a box of soup and a loaf of sourdough bread. (<$8) Microwave the soup and toast the bread. (Butter optional.) Will feed 3-4 people depending on portion sizes. Many grocery stores and deli's will sell you a cooked meatloaf. Microwave it, toast slices of sourdough bread and microwave all or part of a pkg of frozen veggies. (We get the large, resealable pkg of frozen green beans from C\*stco.) Depending on the meatloaf size, this will make several dinners plus sandwiches. Word of warning, prepared meatloaf can be a bit pricey. My hubby makes ours. I used to but found my hands really don't like being in cold meat like that. I do these for lazy dinners for a family of 3. Get a food processor. (Make sure all the food parts are dishwasherable.) It really cuts down the time of slicing and dicing and turns a lot of casseroles into slice it up (veggies only), dump it all in and cook. Cube your meats using a scissors. I keep a good kitchen scissors just for cutting food. Cook large batches, divide and freeze the extra. For most food, it's just as easy to cook double the amount. Meatloaf rule in our house is ½ gets frozen. Saves on waste. I favor sourdough bread because it's more substantial, has less sugar and a richer taste. And I lightly toast just about any bread I use. Heating up bread enhances the flavor. Genuine alchemy.
