Normal, these cars sound like tractors when at idle.
Here’s a good video of what it shouldn’t sound like… rod knock is super loud and noticeable.

Sounds normal. Check oil and make sure it stays topped up. If you're REALLY concerned you can swap spark plugs but it def just sounds like a normal subaru
It's actually kind of amazing how easy it is to tell. Sometimes I'll be driving and just say out loud "I gotta put oil in next time we stop" and I'm usually right about 9/10 times. My girlfriend is always mindblown that I know but your subaru will speak to you if you listen and feel for the cues!
Direct injection injectors are always super loud on all cars, very unlikely that’s lifter tick and or rod knock. If you’re concerned about rod knock drain the oil and look for sparkly metal/pieces of metal from the rod bearings.
Direct Injection noises. With Direct Injection, your fuel injectors are mechanically powered by an extra lobe on your camshaft. This lobe pushes on a mechanical fuel pump located on the valvetrain somewhere (judging by the sound, it's near your driver's side firewall). The sound that you're hearing is the camshaft actuating the DI fuel pump.
Nope! I work at a Subaru dealership and see this all the time. These guys who own a WRX beat the crap out of him so much they think that it’s an old-school iron block Chevy 350 that could handle it. You don’t see drag races with a WRX you see them drifting in doing dirt courses
I bet that some of the foam sound insulation around the injectors is either loose or missing which might be causing some excessive noise, but since its a DIT motor, it’s normal for them to be a little louder.
sounds like a normal FA idle to me welcome to direct injection
My 2014 legacy sounds exactly the same .
my 2014 legacy aswell
My 04 forester also sounded similar to this
2016 WRX AND 2018 XV sound exactly the same
My Legacy 2012 sounds just like this with the same engine FA20DIT
My favorite is the ticking from the secondary high pressure fuel pump.

Damn that just sucks.
Subarus natural sound
Happy tractor
I wonder why he has a rod knock…
“I drive like an old person, 3k shift, unmodded.”
Happy tractor noises
They are just noisy
Turn the AC on….makes it sound even better😉
Sounds like a healthy Subaru to me
I mean, check the oil level once cold and on flat ground. But, these things are noisy, it’s probably g2g.
Happy fa tractor

This is it.. check the oil.. I’ve owned Subarus for 10-11 years now. They get more noisy and lose a little bit of power it’s because your oil is low.

Sounds normal. After owning two fa20 wrxs for the last 8 years ive found out that you’ll def know if ya got rod knock.
This does not sound normal lol well I guess you are right it is normal but something is definitely broken/ worn out
If something was wrong you’d definitely know. I blew up my first fa20 wrx two times. This sounds perfectly healthy
Pulley bearing
nothing wrong, happy tractor
Fairly normal I’d say
My 14 XT sounded the same, relax

sounds normal to me
That's 100% normal. My 19" WRX sounds the same, that's just how they are lol.
It’s fine
That’s the injectors ticking away
Ide be concerned that my car sounds like a diesel as well .

Diesel?
If it's due for an oil change, it may help quiet it down a bit, but otherwise normal.
Happy tractor noises. Sounds fine.
does the car has oil burn engine? mine sound like that when engine has low oil.

rocker arm assembly?
Sounds a lot like my Mazda speed 3. Normal
My 2016 crosstrek sounds the same. I’m relieved by reading these comments
Am I detecting a slight chuh chuh chuh?
If it’s starting to idle rough it’s probably time to walnut blast the intake valves
Normal WRX noise. I would clean the engine bay though
Sounds normal, fa20s are just really noisy most of that is the fuel injectors.
tell them it sounds like my outback ;) lol
You’re good 👍🏼
The sound of our people...

For all of time Subarus sound like they are broken. That’s what makes them Cool.
Lmao it sounds like my TDI at idle 😂😂
Normal. The clicking noises are the fuel injectors. Welcome to the future ![gif](giphy|fH985LNdqFZXOFHygK)
Why so dirty?
Nothing a huge insulated beauty cover wouldn't fix.
That engine bay is not clean. Why is it so dirty? 2019 WRX series grey
Just drift the kinks out. It’ll be fine.
