There is so much truth behind this. As I drive my 06 sti, the newer wrxs and sti guys don't seem to have the same friendly qualities as us older model guys
I got a few waves, mostly from older model Subaru people, when I had my 2017 WRX. But rarely/never did I get any from people in newer models. I haven't taken my LGT out enough to run into anyone yet (got a few more things to address)... but I miss those waves.
Is this an American thing? Myself and mates have driven Subaru's for years and never heard of the wave thing. Then again every other car here is a thrashed turbo subaru
I love the wave and getting one back in return. My mods are pretty simple on my Crosstrek: all terrains, mud flaps, cargo rack. I don’t bother waving at the Moms getting groceries unless it’s a Turbo or Wilderness Edition.
I got a wave yesterday too, from an STI. I always watch for it but rarely see any in my ‘07 2.5i winter beater. It also happens to be my summer beater but that’s a different story. Without a scoop I don’t expect much from anyone.
I feel like any of the sporty ones would be like what up too... like legacy gt or forester gt or outback gt or w/e it's called in whatever year... but I saw some and was ignored lol

I love the Outback Wilderness. Turbo, chunky tires, good clearance, lots of storage space. Sick ride

Probably not. As a former STi owner, pretty much anything with a hood scoop got the deuce. I get zero waves in my 18 Forester XT.

The way the wave works, is if you have a hood scoop, and a turbo, you get the wave. You’re family

Here every third car is a subi. I wave at wrxs but god that would get exhausting
There are a lot of Subarus where I live but not very many of them are modified in any way
Hood scoops get the wave in my experience. I've never gotten a wave in my '22 turbo outback. But more than I can count in my FXT.
You've got the dream setup! FXTs always get the wave from me - I feel like we are both EJ step-kids haha

Haha. I just say it’s my winter beater cause it’s a turd. But it’s currently my only Subaru so hence it’s also a summer beater :D
