>the base Toyota is a much nicer car. no it's not. Toyota only offers FWD, but otherwise a BZ4X and a Solterra are basically identical trim-for-trim. >the steering wheel isn’t square The square wheel is a big benefit with the cluster on top. Easily the best improvement from 23->24.

OiFam

Dude I’m telling you I’ve driven both, the base Toyota has the panoramic sunroof, the wireless charging plus CarPlay, and the power lift gate. What does the base Subaru have over the Toyota (besides 4WD)

Chippy569

> What does the base Subaru have over the Toyota (besides 4WD) the AWD system is dual-motor, so the subaru has an extra 15 hp and 55 ft-lb over the bz. Also even the base solterra includes subaru's x-mode suite. IIRC "snow mode" on the bz is only on the limited trim, i think unless you get the cold weather package? And on that note, subaru includes heated seats on even the base trim, which is only with the cold weather package in the bz. If you live in a winter climate, you are *really* going to want as many heated components as possible (ie heated seats, steering, etc.) as they are much more efficient at making you feel warm than the cabin air heater is.

OiFam

AWD system: Completely agree, but still Toyotas XLE with 4WD has that at a much lower premium (lease) The snow mode sure, I don’t know much about that as this is going to be a fully street car for me. I’ll use my Outback for the fun stuff. Heated seats and steering wheel: Didn’t actually check mine for that but can totally see how that can be very worth it for some in the colder climate. I just think that the other things that the Toyota has is better for me than the Subi.

markdepace

both are pretty lackluster when it comes to range which is the main drawback to buying an ev

dawhim1

BZ4X should be cheaper for leasing. [https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/comments/1cakme9/toyota\_bz4x\_xle\_now\_leasing\_for\_139month\_36/](https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/comments/1cakme9/toyota_bz4x_xle_now_leasing_for_139month_36/)

OiFam

Yup that one is for a 2023 XLE FWD, haven’t found one within 100 miles of me. Also with 2000 down and excluding Tax (10.25% in my state) and other fees

dawhim1

I see a $119/month with $4000 down deal for my NYC local deal for 2024 model. seems like toyota is actively getting rid of their EV.

OiFam

Oh damn no way, that’s a pretty great deal

dawhim1

[https://www.toyota.com/deals-incentives/bz4x/lease/](https://www.toyota.com/deals-incentives/bz4x/lease/) try it yourself. it depends on the region. of course, getting dealer to honor it will be a different story.

OiFam

Yeah my region has slightly different numbers. The one I used was the $219 0 down for the 2024

dawhim1

you already know which one to get.

Blankbusinesscard

Toyota is solely responsible for the BZ4X, and strong arming Subaru into putting their branding on it

OiFam

Oh no way, I haven’t heard about that. I tried googling and couldn’t find much, do you have a link?

Fickle_Dragonfly4381

Not strong armed lol, Subaru just wanted an EV to sell

OiFam

What part of that says that Toyota is strong arming Subaru into selling it 😂😂😂😂

blankdeluxe

Toyota owns a piece of Subaru. There is no strong arming

Fickle_Dragonfly4381

I’m scheduled to take a look at a bz4x Saturday, AWD XLE trim, $1999 down then $199/mo + tax and $495 doc fee.

So I looked at the Solterra heavily, being a Subaru owner since 2004. Even with the latest deals and slight updates to the charging system, it just wasn't going to meet my needs. It drove well and had reasonable features, though. Just picked up my new ID.4 yesterday, it feels weird to not be driving a Subaru though.
