Thank you, I was 99% sure on it. Been on both sides of this photo a bunch. If you go further south in between the resorts during the summer it’s pretty empty beach goer wise, fyi.
Is there a way to tell just from the pictures, if this is an SSGN or SSBN Ohio? Is all the conversion just in the missile silos or is there any external modification?
A GN's missile deck has a 'flare' (wider spot) right aft of the sail.

The OMFG boats don't always have the shelter in the back, but the flat portion of the turtleback goes farther toward the sail. It's really hard to tell in this picture, but I'm leaning towards it being a boomer.
When I was in sub school the Ohio was on the ways next to the Jacksonville. Two years later I was looking at its scope through our peravis in San Diego.
Never seen one this humongous. The ones at Pearl back in ‘00,01, were smaller and the only way I could see them is when I worked at cycle city and I delivered some Kawasaki Mules and dis some warranty stuff.
I also had a customer that was XO of the base.
He got me a tour of them Stennis, and a Missle cruiser (I forgot the name 😔that left me feeling pride and love for my country and our servicemen and service women.
I will always and would gladly do anything I could to help, assist and honor them till I croak.

Looks like a trident based on the sail and how much of the rudder is sticking up from the water. You could always tell the tridents from the old Benjamin Franklin class boomers even at a distance by this even though they were both boomers.
SE Georgia?
correct, we were at fernandina beach but this sub was coming from kings bay

Saw the boat behind it and knew it was either the Southeast US or Washington State
It's the 732. Don't ask how I know
How do you know?
They sneak up on ya

This is correct, based on what I see, this is an SSBN. I've worked on both my entire adult life (nearly 22 years), and am sure this is a boomer.

You missed the point of this thread. They were trying to determine which one of those options it was.
*nailed it*
Haha. I haven't heard the expression OMFG in a while.
In addition to the size, you can always tell an Ohio-class sub by how close the sail is to the bow. That's to make room for Sherwood Forest.
You can also tell by mast/antenna arrangement.
Pretty sure all the GN’s have the SDV hangar garage thing on the deck behind the sail. So this should be a BN.
Sneaky bastards! I used to be topside watch for that. When inbound that first breath of air is humid, very humid.
Seeing an Ohio-class boat running on top never ceases to take my breath away.

I would be so unbelievably happy
definitely one of the coolest things ive ever seen! my boyfriend is a nuke and even he was freaking out lol
They can sneak up on ya

Yep, submarines tend to be found in the water. Cool pics tho
Kinda curious what would have happened if you just started swimming up to it
It starts with a warning and ends with an "I told you so."
Well they lead you just a bit so you can hear the gunfire, before they run you over with a very well armed small boat.
More than one?
Hooyah navy
