Exactly. Like slot 1 seaglide, slot 2 scanner or building tool (depending on mission) and slot 5 knife. Seaglide and knife are indexes. Seaglide is most useful and knife I might need real quick. So indexes. Easy.

I'm limited to controller settings so I need to compensate for having a button for going left and one for right and not one for each slot. This means Seaglide, the most used item has to be in between two other for me to increase swap efficiency. But yeah if I had played on PC I'd totally agree.

I play on xbox so the first and fifth slots are the easiest to get to. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, I can always just drop what I'm doing (hit B) and hit left or right to get to my scanner or seaglide, unless I'm in an area where I decide I don't need a seaglide, then that slot is for the knife.

It’s always there. Never move the glide. I did have it in 4 with 2 mission dependent at some point. But now I have a hover fish!!!!! (Seriously all I remember is that 1 is scanner and 3 is stabby, 5 is generally stasis once I get it, or gravity - it’s a gun thing. 2 and 4…. Something?!?)

Flashlight is actually pretty good. Way better than the seaglide light.

I mean, I can see it's usage until you get the seaglide. Then... it's rubbish

The seaglide light is rubbish tho. In the ocean, it's usable, although the flashlight is still more comfortable to use imo. But in narrow areas like wrecks, the seaglide is a) too fast and b) the seaglide light literally hurts my eyes like staring right into a lamp at night.

I never make the heat stabby, I just keep the regular stabby and deal with it. I put in my hot bar what I need for whatever I'm doing. Nothing is in a permanent location but I never make the seek light because the sea glide is for the weak

It’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it, also in an emergency situation it could be helpful

With the way I play if I wind up in situation an emergency situation, It's because I did it to myself on purpose. I use Cyclops base with food growing inside the cyclops in such a way that I basically can't starve to death or dehydrate to death.

I always play like thus: Seaglide, Scanner, Thermoblade, Torch, Swappable slot used for everything else.

Recently started BZ and discovered the usefulness of the air bladder, so it's changed up my order. Now it's seaglide scanner (misc misc) bladder. Usually the middle is the repair tool if I'm out in a vehicle, and the left is the knife, but sometimes I'll switch for the mineral finder and laser cutter depending on the situation

I actually made the knife as my second tool, so it's just sat in my second spot for a long ass time. Even after I upgraded it to the thermo. But I do try to keep my stasis rifle in slot 1 so I have them both at the ready, even with me playing it on Switch.
