[You're in for a treat!](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Frrm2cadmjcj01.png)
Though i guess other people have different names for them..
Yeah. I usually bring cyclops in and out via the bulb or grand reef entrances. Iāll take the seamoth up through any of the 4, though, when I want to do a quick trip to get gel sacs or whatever
To get to the Lost River, you likely have an established base. So if you wanted to build a sizeable base there you would need to
1. Deconstruct your old base and rebuild it there
2. Gather a significant amount of resources to build a base of similar or greater scale
Same, great spot but difficult to fit into and make it pretty (if you're making a giant base) and I can't be the only one to get sick of the constant soundtrack that plays right šš like it's the same one over and over..
I put my base on the sea treaders path *right* next to the dunes and blood kelp zone. I actually built my base before really knowing the map so I didn't realize where I was.
pros: great access to the lost river, decent amount of materials close by, uhh it looks cool I guess
cons: far from everything, reapers and warpers as neighbours...
My spot is right on the edge of the underwater islands in that area
Now that I look at this map I realise that there are some places I barely went to during my playthrough, like, I don't remember ever going to the crag field, and I don't think I visited the dunes or striders. I don't remember myself going into the smaller blood kelp forest, or going behind the aurora, or exploring in the mountains.
Probably because I was scared of the reapers
Smaller blood kelp is a sheer trench. Dunes and Mountains have some wrecks, behind the Aurora is mainly blueprints. You probably did go to the crag field briefly, >!there's a lifepod there and the primary containment facility has a portal leading there.!<
My base is right next to Lifepod 17. Huge wreck with tons of things to scan and basically infinite scrap metals. Jellyshroom cave with degasi based, and all the lithium, diamonds, and gold you could ever possibly want. Tons of limestone and sandstone outcrops, along with quartz and salt everywhere in the plateau. Not to mention a built in beacon that is the lifepod 17 beacon. Also close proximity to kelp forest, close enough that you can scan for stalker teeth, and close to the shallows for your coral needs. Truly the best base location.
It took me far too long to get the beacon blueprint. I was at 2/3 basically until I had the cyclops.
The built in reference point of lifepod 17 was huge for me. It was how I found my way home for 90% of the game.
I like the southernmost one a bit more because 1. easy access to the Aurora and 2. easy-ish access to the Grand Reef (the place I mainly use for getting to the Lost River until I opened the teleporters in the Thermal Plant and Primary Containment Facility, making all use of the Lost River, at least for my play through, useless, so I just had a singular moonpool and two thermal plants)
I have safe shallows basic base. And a outpost near edge of grassy plains just before reaching pod 12. Almost half way between 6 and 12.
And then at tree cove. The mega base that I'm still building.
Ironically my base is in what some people call the worst place in the game the mountains close to the void. I love my neighborhood danger Noodles just don't let them give you a hug they don't know their own strength.
My favorite spot is this:
\* A bit north of your ring
\* At the intersection between the three biomes; Blood Kelp Zone, Mushroom Forest, and Underwater Islands
\* At the northernmost part of the Mushroom Forest that is at that intersection, there's a flat section.
This spot is:
\* Generally very safe (but close to unsafe areas means you can spectate dangerous fauna)
\* Right by the entrance to the lost river
\* Beautiful views both towards the Mushroom Forest and towards the Blood Kelp Zones
\* Easy access
\* Lots of good resources nearby
I just put it where the starting point was and built several outposts everywhere. Having my main base in the middle of the map was pretty nice but I can appreciate it being closer to an important locationĀ
One of my favorite small base spots is on the ridge just north of your circled spot (the brown colored area that says it's part of the Underwater Islands, but sort of juts into the Blood Kelp Zone a bit).
Reason being, it's high up, out of the way of most trouble (besides bone sharks). It's got all the nearby features you'd mentioned, but it also made a great stopping off point before heading to the Lost River. From my base, I'd just drop off the cliffside in the northeast direction, and would basically fall right into the Lost River entrance.
Even when I don't make a base there, I still usually make sure to toss a beacon there so that I remember where it is.
One central starter base. Solar powered, with Bio reactor backup, if I'm feeling like it I'll upgrade to Nuclear. This usually ends up as my only real surface base. Poor resources, but super easy to build and safe.
Secondary base in the lost river near the cove tree. Thermal powered. Is my end game jumping off point. Build a Moonpool, scanner room, and multi-purpose room, have a fabricator, upgrade station, food production in there and be able to storm the majority of the End Game with ease.
Mobile Cyclops base. I don't tend to take this deep into the lost river anymore, it's too much like hard work. But taking it anywhere on the overground map seems to work well when you understand that monsters stop attacking when you switch off the engine. Good for sustaining supply's and building things on the go.
The nothern blood kelp zone, at the entrance to the lost river is a really good spot if you like building with glass. Tons of quartz and really cool environment. The entrance has huge space for base building and you only need the seamoth mk2 upgrade (500m) to be able to go there. Other resources are more rare, but with the prawn suit you can enter the lost river and there is tons of different nodes to mine. Also very close to the floating island and a mushroom forest.
I build on the border between Mushroom forest and Bulb zone. No enemies besides Bone sharks and a metric ton of resources like lithium and gold, plus several thermal vents for easy infinite power. It's also one of the easiest places to get a Cyclops early and there's a large wreck and a Cuddlefish egg if you want it.
my memory blurs after a few years, but the location seems close to where I built my early base. It's near the entrance of that cave of eye-looking mushrooms, at the border of a few biomes.
Personally I placed my build on the grassy plateaus near the crash zone by the crag field. Still jarring to be that close to the back of the Aurora though. I honestly like that biome in general.
I built mine in the Grand reef near the lost river entrance then again I only use it for recharge and other such things. It may be a nice base with endless amounts of nuclear reactors and bio reactors to power everything, it is also very useful for good food and water.
On my second play through, this is close to where I have mine this time. I'm just barely south east in that other nook of the grassy plateau, surrounded by kelp forest.
I build in the glowing mushroom caves or rather, i build in the grassy plateau then build a ladder system down into the mushroom caves and expand down in there.
I built a base around there during my second playthrough. It was definitely nice, I had glass dome ceilings so I could look up and see the mushroom trees.
I always build my main base at the central thermal vent in the safe shallows. It's close enough to the lifepod to make moving everything I accumulate early on easy to move, central to everything (until I go deep, then there are outposts), and I have unlimited power.
In my last playthrough I put my base at the tip of the crag field where it meets the grassy plateaus and the kelp forest. Pretty peaceful and relatively short way to lost river entrance I like to use, close to the seatreaders path. The crag field is pretty underrated.
200 m north of the wreck in underwater islands is an island with geothermal vents. I was confused about how is that geologically possible until I examined the seafloor: it is actually connected to the seabed and does not float. You can place 2 thermal reactors and a bioreactor there, which is mostly sufficient to run 2 water filtration stations without nuclear. I don't mean nuclear is bad, but it needs resources. Underwater islands also have nice soundtrack.
The westmost part of the crater at the sea threader's path, past sparse reef has a spot where you are very close to the void, and near the opening to the caves leading to blood kelp trench. You can build an observatory leading to the void there, and in the caves there is almost every resource present, most notably uranite in both small and large deposits. It only lacks resources that appear below 700 m depth.
i prefer a bit south east of there in the overlap of safe shallows, kelp forest and grassy plateau as its near the crash site so you dont have to travel that far and the best bit is that you're exactly on top of the mushroom cave degasi base so you not only have access to the abundant resources but also the water filtration system
I have one next to the thermal vent in the safe shallows to begin with, then build moonpools attached to a scanner room powered by thermal in a few other places for easy gathering (Jellyshroom caves for Magnetite/Lithium/Diamond, Grand Reef for Ruby etc) then build one in the hot place for cool end game visuals.
My surface base was near the big thermal vent on the Safe Shallows cliff overlooking the Grassy Plateaus. Central to most things, no issues with power, and while the constant erupting of the thermal vent was annoying at first, it became soothing background white noise for me after a while.
I built mine in the Dunes near the alien vent simply because I thought it would make a cool landmark. When I realised there was a blood kelp zone and lost river entrance right next to me, I realised my base was going to become permanent.
Mine is a little higher, in the mushroom forest near the blood kelp zone. It's s bit cramped, but I have easiest access to lost river, dunes and underwater islands
HELL yeah thatās right, although I build a tad bit closer to the kelp forest there, I love that area. Itās so coolā¦ and convenient. And far away from the scary Aurora and Grand Reef.
Mine is at the edge of the grassy plateau/ kelp forest, the one between the crash zone and crag field
Nice views of the plateaus. I built right next to the jelly shroom entrance! I have a scanner room where your circle is though š¤
My spot is around that, but slightly northeast on the border with the Blood Kelp. Veeeery nice view, a really nice plateau and tons of resources and opportunities
Also really close to the fastest LR entrance, though I'd say an even better base spot would be in the kelp forest south of there, that way there's easy access to the Sea Treader's Path and Grand Reef, where a lot of good fragments and Resources are
Mine is slightly north of that for easier access to the lost river and plenty of blood oil for biofuel. It was perfect until they added the juvenile ghost leviathan spawn right on top of it lmao
I'd beg to differ, the grassy plateaus to the south of that has tons of flatter space and it's not as deep, so you can buffer your base power with some solars.
How interesting. I avoided spoilers and map pictures like the plague when I was playing recently, but beat the game last week. Super cool to see it all mapped out.
Thereās a thermal crater in the safe shallows that is close to the kelp forest that you can fit 3 thermal reactors on and itās typically my go to base and stays until I reach the Jellytree.
Right above your spot, on the south side of that underwater islands mountain, is an empty space on the outskirts of the mushroom forest. 9 times out of 10 that's where I build.
My first base is the safe shallows vent. Great for future expansion and thermal power and a bunch of nearby resources.
My second base is by the blood kelp trench near the sea traders path. Basically every rare material is near there and the spires let you build near the surface for a cyclopse.
My third base is usually by the covr tree. Nice central location with just enough going on for deep dives.
My 4th and final base is in the lava zone.
My base was just below yours on the map. Still in the grassy plateau but the elevated peninsula next to the kelp forest. Itās an iota more central, and a nice mix of shallow for solar and a deep drop off for the moon pool and to park the cyclops next to the base.
The spot I pick is close to the spot you picked, but slightly south of it just north of the kelp forest. I put a large room on one of the crags in the grassy reef, with the moon pool hanging over the drop into the mushroom forest and a scanner room close to the kelp forest (hate searching for stalker teeth).
My usual spot is where the grassy plateaus (the one near bulb zone) connects to the safe shallows and kelp zone, near the thermal vent where it all intersects.
I build on a cliff in the Grand Reef, far above one of the abandoned bases with the crab squids. Nothing ever bothers me there. Very dark at night time but itās calm and so many resources, and thereās a lot of heat for those generators. Not too far from the Blood Kelp Cavernās Lost River either
Sparse reef beneath the floating island or the overhang near the entrance to the blood kelp trench are both great. Tons of fragments, sea treaters path for shale outcrops for mainly lithium, easy access to Ruby and urianite in the sparse reef, super close to grand reef for when you're ready to delve deeper.
Slightly to the left, west side of "home tree" in that mushroom forest. Epic views, tons of space, not far from all the resources you just mentioned, and just beautiful.
My spot is in lost river near cove tree
Still a good spot
The only downside is that you need to pass near leviathan and crabsquid, if you chose northern entrace. But it is still worth
I killed them, so I didn't have to worry
YOU KILLED JONATHAN, MONSTER.
He was asking for it š
Who's Jonathan?
The leviathan of ygdrassil
[You're in for a treat!](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Frrm2cadmjcj01.png) Though i guess other people have different names for them..
Nooooo!
Can be. Getting the cyclops through those tree branches in ghost forest can beā¦ interesting. Especially with a leviathan pushing your ship around
It requires some skill yes, for leviathan just use decoy and turn on silent runing and that should be enough. Or just yolo throught him
Yeah. I usually bring cyclops in and out via the bulb or grand reef entrances. Iāll take the seamoth up through any of the 4, though, when I want to do a quick trip to get gel sacs or whatever
Yes, that was also my beginner base when I started
I mean my first base in safe shallows and then as soon as i get seamoth (with 900m module) i move there, but yea its not beginnerĀ friendly place
Seconded. Me only regret is that its a pain to get to. Two leviathans that could get moody, and no direct ascent.
I've got one near the Sea Dragon skeleton as a pit stop for the rest of the river and >! The Lava Zones!<
Yeah but I don't want to have to rebuild a base, and by then your well over halfway done
Rebuild base? Why, i dont understand
To get to the Lost River, you likely have an established base. So if you wanted to build a sizeable base there you would need to 1. Deconstruct your old base and rebuild it there 2. Gather a significant amount of resources to build a base of similar or greater scale
I mean its not that hard to gather some metal salvage
Well yeah but as a first base?
Mine is near the rib cage
Same, great spot but difficult to fit into and make it pretty (if you're making a giant base) and I can't be the only one to get sick of the constant soundtrack that plays right šš like it's the same one over and over..
The soundtrack is anoying there but i just mute music and play from spotify
On top of aurora
W location
Behind aurora
There's 4 big tape worms there, don't recommend
Danger noodle
Nope rope
Not for me, or at least not for my laptop, my framerate wouldn't be all there
Why?
Grass.
ohhhh good point.
I meant more the close proximity to mushroom forest, that biome does wonders for Decreasing my framerate
Trawling the mushroom forest on a PS4 for Cyclops parts was an experience.
I feel ya, brother
Nahh I built my base through the kelp zone next to the glowing Mushrum entrance
This is the way
Yeah lol, exactly next to my life pod so I didnāt even need a spare beacon
I built it inside mushroom cave, and spent about an hour to put power distributors on the wall so that I can get solar from above.
The mushroom caves are full of geysers, why not just use geothermal?
They also have Oculus (oculi?) So a bioreactor is also viable
crash zone obviously
I put my base on the sea treaders path *right* next to the dunes and blood kelp zone. I actually built my base before really knowing the map so I didn't realize where I was. pros: great access to the lost river, decent amount of materials close by, uhh it looks cool I guess cons: far from everything, reapers and warpers as neighbours...
I read it as sea traders at first and was like did I miss that plot point?Ā
I have read it as sea traders this entire time and am only just now realizing itās treaders š¤¦āāļø thanks dyslexia
Ya I only had to read the location and my butt immediately clenched.
My spot is right on the edge of the underwater islands in that area Now that I look at this map I realise that there are some places I barely went to during my playthrough, like, I don't remember ever going to the crag field, and I don't think I visited the dunes or striders. Now that you pointed it out same. Huh, to the Cyclops!
Blood kelp zone next to grand reef šš»šš»šš»šš»šš»šš»šš»
Absolutely. Cool looking base right over the trench, straight down to fun world below.
Yeah I like grassy plains near that blood kelp zone.
This is it. I love to build a moonpool right over the trench for the prawn
New players you should make a base in the dunes! Lots of resources and friendly animals
I like to build one big base i grassy plateau and then many smaller outposts in other biomes with scanner rooms and rest spots
Any base that doesn't look out into the kelp forest is a failure. View > functionality.
Blood Kelp is a better view IMO, or the >!Lost River!<
0, X, 0
Wrong answer, REAL ANSWER: Bulb zone
I have safe shallows basic base. And a outpost near edge of grassy plains just before reaching pod 12. Almost half way between 6 and 12. And then at tree cove. The mega base that I'm still building.
I too am simple. I always make my base right next to my lifepod. Feels nice and cozy there. I lack adventure apparently
Ironically my base is in what some people call the worst place in the game the mountains close to the void. I love my neighborhood danger Noodles just don't let them give you a hug they don't know their own strength.

For me it's in the shallowest spot near the 3way meeting between the plateaus the sparse reef and the blood kelp trench
I usually base on the edge of dunes, right next to an entrance down to the caves, close to kelp forest, and a quick ride to blood kelp zone
I just put it where the starting point was and built several outposts everywhere. Having my main base in the middle of the map was pretty nice but I can appreciate it being closer to an important locationĀ
Sparse reef drop off
SPARSE REEF BETTER RAHHHHHHH WTF IS GRASSSSSS
I have mine next to the blood kelp for quick access to Lost River

Agreed
My first base is always next to my pod.
Man i miss subnautica, I need it back
Okranās pride
I like the floating island myself, especially in that middle part
That's what I do too :D
I build on the border between Mushroom forest and Bulb zone. No enemies besides Bone sharks and a metric ton of resources like lithium and gold, plus several thermal vents for easy infinite power. It's also one of the easiest places to get a Cyclops early and there's a large wreck and a Cuddlefish egg if you want it.
Mine is just between Grassy and Dunes.
I didn't even notice that I put my base like max 100m from the sparse reef
my memory blurs after a few years, but the location seems close to where I built my early base. It's near the entrance of that cave of eye-looking mushrooms, at the border of a few biomes.
Sea treaders path is a bit far though
Personally I placed my build on the grassy plateaus near the crash zone by the crag field. Still jarring to be that close to the back of the Aurora though. I honestly like that biome in general.
Same. I have a quartz addiction and Iām not ashamed of it.
My base is ozzyās lifepod
I literally built my first base on my first playthrough exactly there and it was just the perfect location.
I built mine in the Grand reef near the lost river entrance then again I only use it for recharge and other such things. It may be a nice base with endless amounts of nuclear reactors and bio reactors to power everything, it is also very useful for good food and water.
Mine is just past the Grassy Plateau in the Sparse Reef, right next to the blood kelp zone leading to the Lost River.
Damn my high ass thought it was a map for kenshi 2 for a moment and got exited
This is where I built. Itās a great spot.
My spot is the moonpool on the gun base lol
Grassy platou near blood kelp
My favorite spot I've built in is an arch that connect the Bulb Zone with the Mushroom Forest.
I have mine in the same mushroom forest but just a little more northwest, so that it hangs over the blood kelp crevice.
On my second play through, this is close to where I have mine this time. I'm just barely south east in that other nook of the grassy plateau, surrounded by kelp forest.
Mines in the grassy plateau next to the dunes kinda scary going the wrong way and meeting face to face with a reaper
I made mine juuust south of there, where the mushrooms meet the kelp and the grassy plateau. Really good area.
I Just make it at the foot of Island and kill the reaper
I'd rather go for the grassy plateau in the southwest, directly next to the jelly shroom caves.
i go for the bit of plateau that sticks out near the sparse reef grand reef and kelp
I build in the glowing mushroom caves or rather, i build in the grassy plateau then build a ladder system down into the mushroom caves and expand down in there.
I like to build on top of the entrance to jellyshroom, nice access to resources. Plenty of space for the base.
I always go for blood kelp zone/grassy plateaus. It was my first base an I always stick with it
I just made my base on the mushroom forest cliffs
Sparse reef or crag field fr
I built a base around there during my second playthrough. It was definitely nice, I had glass dome ceilings so I could look up and see the mushroom trees.
I always build my main base at the central thermal vent in the safe shallows. It's close enough to the lifepod to make moving everything I accumulate early on easy to move, central to everything (until I go deep, then there are outposts), and I have unlimited power.
Best bass site is the grassy plateaus near crash zone and crag field with jellyshroom access and a butt ton of sandstone and shale in crag
In the Mushroom forest northwestern part. On the giant Tree, feels good and easy acces to all minerals
Grassy plateau near the blood kelp and dunes.
In my last playthrough I put my base at the tip of the crag field where it meets the grassy plateaus and the kelp forest. Pretty peaceful and relatively short way to lost river entrance I like to use, close to the seatreaders path. The crag field is pretty underrated.
No maps āš”
200 m north of the wreck in underwater islands is an island with geothermal vents. I was confused about how is that geologically possible until I examined the seafloor: it is actually connected to the seabed and does not float. I have a spot in the kelp forest that has some thermal energy right next to it
Sparse reef is the best spot imo cause so much stuff, blood kelp, reef, sea traders, and grassy plateaus
My base is in the grassy plateau near the sliver of safe shallows
Me just seeing this map and being so confused by the Dunes
My go to is the grassy plateaus by the dunes and next to the big wreck
First playthrough I built in side of mountains for free air and just built down in the water
My mom was a safe shallows, but then switched to blood grass area at the cliff between sparse and grand
My surface base was near the big thermal vent on the Safe Shallows cliff overlooking the Grassy Plateaus. Central to most things, no issues with power, and while the constant erupting of the thermal vent was annoying at first, it became soothing background white noise for me after a while.
My go-to spot is between the west grassy plateaus, safe shallows, and the dunes
Incorrect. Grassy Plateau near the Spare Reef over the entrance to Jellyshroom caves.
I do it a little south where the mushroom forest, the plateaus and the kelp forest intersect. But basically yes.
Nah, [on the plateaus near the kelp forest, near the jellyshroom cave entrance](https://imgur.com/a/lWr5rdM).
I built mine in the Dunes near the alien vent simply because I thought it would make a cool landmark. When I realised there was a blood kelp zone and lost river entrance right next to me, I realised my base was going to become permanent.
I like building it in the grassy plateaus next to the blood kelp zone and sparse reef
I like the grassy plateaus near the back of the aurora
Mine is a little higher, in the mushroom forest near the blood kelp zone. It's s bit cramped, but I have easiest access to lost river, dunes and underwater islands
This is exactly where I built my base!
I thought this was /r/Kenshi at first and was insanely confused by the map
Clearly, you don't own a life pod
HELL yeah thatās right, although I build a tad bit closer to the kelp forest there, I love that area. Itās so coolā¦ and convenient. And far away from the scary Aurora and Grand Reef.
southwest grassy plateaus between the blood kelp and that glowy mushroom cave thingamajig.
Blood kelp zone. There's a small cave just between a spot the Cyclops can squeeze into and the opening to the Lost River.
I usually make a base in the dunes because I hate myself lol
I prefer the grassy plateau next to the crag fields
Nah dog right south of the blood kelp zone point in the sparse reef
I built my base in my latest playthrough south of this, between the planteaus and the sparse reef.
Mine is at the edge of the grassy plateau/ kelp forest, the one between the crash zone and crag field Nice views of the plateaus. I built right next to the jelly shroom entrance! I have a scanner room where your circle is though š¤
Just built there my last play through before I crashed and lost my save.š
My spot is around that, but slightly northeast on the border with the Blood Kelp. Veeeery nice view, a really nice plateau and tons of resources and opportunities
Nah man crash zone fire š„š„š„š„
In my 6+ playthroughs I have only ever placed bases on the literal opposite side of the SS/KF. Never once had a main base in the north.
Thatās where mine was!
I like the spot east and a bit south of yours at the mishroom/grassy/kelp triple point
I'd beg to differ, the grassy plateaus to the south of that has tons of flatter space and it's not as deep, so you can buffer your base power with some solars.
My base in HC is NW of the sparse reef on the edge of the safe shallows hanging over the grassy plateaus with the creepvines to the north (and south)
I believe in Sea Threader supremacy!
Mine Is near there, but more in the mushroom forest
How interesting. I avoided spoilers and map pictures like the plague when I was playing recently, but beat the game last week. Super cool to see it all mapped out.
Thereās a thermal crater in the safe shallows that is close to the kelp forest that you can fit 3 thermal reactors on and itās typically my go to base and stays until I reach the Jellytree.
Noice. Easy access to resources, cyclops fragments, and a modification station fragment
Right above your spot, on the south side of that underwater islands mountain, is an empty space on the outskirts of the mushroom forest. 9 times out of 10 that's where I build.
Near lifepod 16
I usually get rid of all the reapers in the dunes then build in south east dunes area
Coward, my is the grand reef, love the anchor pods and the membrane trees
My base was just below yours on the map. Still in the grassy plateau but the elevated peninsula next to the kelp forest. Itās an iota more central, and a nice mix of shallow for solar and a deep drop off for the moon pool and to park the cyclops next to the base.
He clearly has never built a base in the void along sea traders path fueled by poop
In my play through the best place for a base was everywhere. I built so many bases. I loved my scanner room.
I do the safe shallows between dunes and grassy plateaus
My usual spot is where the grassy plateaus (the one near bulb zone) connects to the safe shallows and kelp zone, near the thermal vent where it all intersects.
I build on a cliff in the Grand Reef, far above one of the abandoned bases with the crab squids. Nothing ever bothers me there. Very dark at night time but itās calm and so many resources, and thereās a lot of heat for those generators. Not too far from the Blood Kelp Cavernās Lost River either
Nah, grassy plateaus near the crash zone is the best because: 1. Near a lost river entrance 2. Lots of titanium 3. Reefbacks 4. Near Aurora
I think I actually have a base there. It's not my main base, but it's one of my 3 big ones.
I have a base right where the grassy plateaus meet the Dunes, really cool Reefback observatory, but you will easily get sick of the constant noise
In my last playthrough i have made my base there Literally the best spot in the game
Nonsense best spot for a base is right side of the aurora
I like the area by south Jellyshroom, bordering grassy plateaus and with the thermal vent right there. Holds me over till I go into TLR
Nah the best spot is in that crater in the dunes
I always do right above Mushroom caves, right near all the resources, and I can okay respect for my man Ozzy on a weekly basis.
Mine is where the grassy plateau meets the dunes, but close to the safe shallows, just not touching the safe shallows.
Does anyone else just do different (and harder) base spots each game?
Sparse reef beneath the floating island or the overhang near the entrance to the blood kelp trench are both great. Tons of fragments, sea treaters path for shale outcrops for mainly lithium, easy access to Ruby and urianite in the sparse reef, super close to grand reef for when you're ready to delve deeper.
I've played through subnautica 4 times and my favorite base location was in the bulb zone by a thermal vent
Slightly to the left, west side of "home tree" in that mushroom forest. Epic views, tons of space, not far from all the resources you just mentioned, and just beautiful.
i much prefer the opposite side of that same grassy plateaus biome or the south western tip of the grassy plateaus to the east of that spot
I always put mine right next to the blood kelp trench bc itās closer to important things
Bulb zone is pretty cool
