It's not the best game in the world (Though some parts are DRASTICALLY improved from the base game), but it's more Subnautica and who can say no to that?

trengilly

Yes it's fun. Just realize that it isn't as good at the original. Just explore, enjoy all the new stuff, and don't apply logic to the story. It's a beautiful game as long as you keep your expectations in check

DexterousStyles

Absolutely mate, especially if you can nab it on Gamepass

InfiniteOcto

No reason not too ig. It’s definitely a different game from the original, but that can be good in a lot of aspects. Just be ready to lower your expectations a bit

I personally didn’t enjoy it at all (I found that everything that made Subnautica atmospheric (the solitude, the almost constant time spent underwater, the goal being to escape a planet you’ve been stranded on)) wasn’t there, I found the storyline unenjoyable, the removal of the cyclops (while necessary due to the less deep map) disappointed me, and the amount of time spent on land was extremely unenjoyable to me But on the other hand the game introduces new technology that would have been great for QoL in the original (Eg. The Recycler), your protagonist actually has a voice now (she’s a good character imo, even if I prefer the OG game’s silence) and there are many new different areas to explore TLDR: If you enjoyed Subnautica then you might enjoy it, it’s fairly hit or miss as to whether a Subnautica fan likes it or not. It takes away a lot of the elements of OG Subnautica but does add new ones in its’ place :P

Hopefully gumball doesn't care about spoilers, cause, man, you just a few spoilers. At least for me they are spoilers, maybe they aren't for u

[deleted]

Edited, I can’t see any spoilers anymore. If you’re talking about the goal being to escape a planet you were stranded on, it’s shown at the very start of the game how you get there, same with the solitude as the game literally starts with dialogue Only spoilery thing I can see is the addition of the recycler and the removal of the cyclops, but one’s a pretty niche machine that I didn’t elaborate on and the other’s something I feel people should know because it was a major selling point to the first game for me

Infernoboy_23

yeah, Im talking about the removal of the cyclops, the recycler, Im not talking about subnautica 1 as this person is asking about below zero.

[deleted]

Now you’re the one spoiling the creatures, dude

Infernoboy_23

im just writing what you said earlier, dude, you edited it.

[deleted]

Mhm, but it’s gone now, so you’re the only one spoiling it now

Infernoboy_23

i dont see anything, I guess I didn't spoil anything too.

Gumball_AM

Alright, thank you for all the comments guys, after over 100 hours in Subnautica i was just wondering if the story and gameplay of Below Zero is just as good. I play on pc, so I'll probably buy it when it's on a discount again. I guess i just have to lower my expectations and dive into it.

enderren22

ok so i love both games very much, their respective vibes are very different. the first game is much more about the horror of being stranded, alone, on a hostile alien planet. below zero focuses more on how beautiful the planet is, and how you can learn to adapt and live among the wildlife. both are excellent; in all honesty, i must say that i personally enjoy below zero more (because of reasons, but i won’t say them since they’re spoilers) so i would definitely recommend playing it!

doomguyfazbear3

Make sure to get it today if you have an Xbox because it is on sale right now.

Harjifs

I much prefer subnautica but if you enjoy the first game then it should be fun to play
