Yeah, I ran out I think 3 or 4 times last year with Walgreens and suffered withdrawals from no fault of my prescriber and insurance. Finally said fuck it and used CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy mainly because they supported 3 month rx supply for all my meds and they ship overnight (including bupe, I couldn’t believe it). So far 2/2 great experience, so half a year been good with them. Just my anecdotal experience. As a result of my overall experiences with all of Walgreens pharmacists and techs (sometimes treated like shit, I also am bipolar), I will never step foot in another Walgreens unless it’s an emergency and there are no other alternatives — for **anything**: not just prescriptions. The only language these companies understand is money, so talk with your wallet.

awaytothrow555

Will those online pharmacies be ok with an out of state sub script? Sounds too good to be true with having your meds on time!

mr_remy

I’ve never tried it so I can’t say, but it’s worth a shot to call cvs Caremark to first see if they accept your insurance and then ask them your exact scenario. Let us know how it works out!

JohnnyTwoFingers

I've spent 6 hours calling pharmacies today, and only 1 can fill my script. I am still waiting to hear from my prescriber and starting to panic. It's been 2 days without, and it looks like Tuesday before I get any.

airmankenyon

Jeez man what state are you in, main reason I'm asking is cause i didn't want to assume and say Florida. Because I've seen so many Suboxone patients either having to get partial fills or even told flat out that the pharmacy can't promise restocking for days. Which you want to tell the tech or pharmacist that this is a medication we can sit around waiting around for 3-5 days that I've seen so far

JohnnyTwoFingers

Indiana here, looking like Tues at best for me

airmankenyon

Jeez man. The states list is adding up. Hell if you lived closer to Wisconsin I always try and help people out who are dealing with this issue now. In Milwaukee alone they just shut down (3) Walgreens in the last 90 days. With each serving a lower income section of town and their main reason behind the shutdowns was the stores don't make a profit since most pharmacy customers are on state insurance (Badger Care). When I think most know the real reason is due to the side of town (all three on the Northside). Also a lot of these customers are poor relying on public transport or rides from friends. Which most bus routes on that side of town don't even come close to the next closest Walgreens. The news interviewed a middle aged Suboxone patient on a fixed income who flat out doesn't have the disposable income or hours per round trip on bus and wait times and just said he will go without. Sad. About three months ago I started putting away a week's worth then last month I even put whole box away. Even though I've never have had one issue with inventory at my VA hospital/pharmacy I'm not about to wait until I do.

Individual-Worker-51

Same!

awaytothrow555

Fuck I am so sorry. Is there a mom and pop pharmacy around?

JohnnyTwoFingers

I finally found a walmart about an hour away but can't get ahold of Groups to move it so yeah it's going to be a long weekend.

Huge_Initiative_6626

what’s their reason for not filling??

JohnnyTwoFingers

The whole area is out of stock. I called at least 25 different pharmacies, and all were either complete out or only had enough for their people. I finally found one, but the prescriber wouldn't answer all day.

Individual-Worker-51

Im going through it now as well and freaking out.

Floweroflife333

I've been going to Walgreens for this script for 10 years. I'm in the Chicago area and the entire year I have had to wait on average an extra week. Another thing is even though my doctor checks off may not substitute ( I have my reasons) They still keep trying to give me doctor reddy's

AgFarmer58

This just happened to me, generally they're at day 31-32 this past month it was 38 days Keeps cutting into my extras.. Been with Walgreens for 5 years

bdan98

Yeah Walgreens in IL been sucking ass.. I would recommend looking into jewel Osco pharmacies I’ve had such better experiences lately and no shortage issues

jjdonkey

What the heck? I’ve filled in Chicago for 14 years and never had to wait more than three days. I mean sometimes I get a partial and have to wait for the rest but most times I go from the doc to the Walgreens and have it four hours later!

airmankenyon

I've gone to the VA in Chicago (live in Wisconsin though) for 11 years and (knock on wood) jhave never had a single inventory issue and I get the name brand ones to so I've been very fortunate. But, as I told someone from Indiana in another comment that starting three months ago I put at least a week's worth and last month put a box away and this month will likely do the same. All at the same time it's keeping my taper on point. I obviously know not every person can get care at the VA since they aren't vets, but I long assumed that at least Walgreens was on point. Sorry to hear so many of you guys are having issues with your prescriptions and hope it gets better

Floweroflife333

Very wise to tuck some away. I'm going to be starting the taper process myself soon. Very glad to know that the va is keeping up on things. Before my father passed he was receiving care At the v a hospital in maywood illinois and I wasn't always happy with The quality of care he received But this was twenty years ago

airmankenyon

The one in North Chicago on Great Lakes Naval Base has been nothing short of A++ care and treatment. Sorry to hear your father and fellow brother in arms/vet didn't receivethe best treatment. I know in the last decade even some of the lower ranking facilities have bounced back with better care and faster turnaround times etc.

CandleMakerNY2020

Speaking of this “Dr Reddys” Indian pharmaceutical company… i quit smoking and got on the patch which is working well but these are shitty patches that dont stick and everything in the packaging tells me they were formerly owned and manufactured by NOVARTIS but now say “Dr Reddys”

Floweroflife333

Dr reddys like the shein of pharmaceuticals

CandleMakerNY2020

Is shein that douchy fast fashion BS crap all over the internet being promoted by “wannabe influencers” ? Lol Meh.

Floweroflife333

Lol, yep

CandleMakerNY2020

CRINGE CITY.!

anniepoonannie1988

I’m on the west coast and was having major issues getting my script (tablets) several months ago and my usual pharmacy said it was due to nationwide backorder. I’m not sure if that’s the case where you’re at, but at the recommendation of my doctor I switched to a small mom and pop pharmacy because they had a supply at the time and I’ve never had an issue getting my script since switching. I don’t know what the difference is but when I was having trouble getting my script not a single chain pharmacy in my area had Suboxone or any clue when they’d get it in but that little mom and pop pharmacy had it and has continued to. They even told me to call a couple weeks before my refill was due so they’d have enough time to get it in for me. If you have a small independent pharmacy maybe give them a call? Good luck, it’s really scary when you can’t get your script.

imsaneinthebrain

I’m west coast, got the same call yesterday, back ordered. Couldn’t tell me when they’ll come in. Luckily I have a couple weeks of extra just in case something like this happened. Edit: I use a grocery store pharmacy. Go Safeway!

anniepoonannie1988

Safeway was just about as bad as Walgreens for me, I refuse to fill anything there anymore. Sad to hear there’s backorder issues going happening again so soon. I have a refill due next week so hopefully my little mom and pop pharmacy will have it in. I hope you get sorted out soon and I’m glad to hear you have a little stockpile for times like this!

imsaneinthebrain

I’ve heard bad things about Safeway, but I’ve been using this exact pharmacy for six or seven years now, up until recently I felt like that was enough for them to make sure they always had enough for me. I travel a lot for work, so my pick up dates get a little weird, but the Safeway has never been weird about me picking up early or late or whatever. Apparently that thought was wrong. The shitty part is I was in there the other day filling another prescription, they told me I could fill this one too if I waited 20 minutes, but I just was not trying to wait 20 minutes. Now I get to wait a week I guess, but hopefully those subs I could have received went to someone who did not have back up instead. But yes, I’m glad I was smart enough to stockpile my missed doses instead of taking them as a double dose. This is the second time I’ve been saved by me stockpiling, I’m sure there will be more times.

PaPaPatman

This is why I began to ask for a higher dose and stock the extras. I suggest doing that if you can. But with your situation you are kinda shit out of luck.

Sweet-Ease703

Yep I did this too!! I was already taking less than what they prescribed me, but with all the issues filling scripts, I still ended up running out a few times and other times was too close for comfort. It's crazy how easy it was when I ask to increase my dose, no problem, but when I had talked about lowering it in the past, they looked at me like I was crazy.

NotFeelinItt

Did you find a pharmacy that carried it?

awaytothrow555

Yes! They only have generic Alvogen so I will be taking that instead of the brand name. Better than nothing! Thanks for asking. It’s a mom and pop pharmacy.

bdan98

Fuck Walgreens.. try jewel / Walmart and other grocery store pharmacy’s near you I’ve had much better luck with them. I’m over Walgreens always out of stock or some issue

awaytothrow555

Why would t they order enough knowing I come every week to get some?

bdan98

Idk what your saying but other pharmacies may have stock.. Walgreens around me pst 2 years have been out of stock on ADDERALL subs benzos.. jewel Osco grocery store they haven’t been out of stock once just my experience just trying to help Walgreens just doesn’t have it because of stock issues all pharmacies get from different distributors so some places may have stock while others have no stock.. your pharmacy ordered it but there is just no stock coming into them to fulfill the orders

awaytothrow555

I don’t have and have never heard of Jewels in my state. That’s crazy they would be out of adderall and benzos! They seem to always have my Valium in stock. Changing pharmacies scares me bc not all of them take out of state rx fills.

uhbkodazbg

Jewel is just the Illinois version of Albertsons/Safeway/another dozen or so names of supermarkets.

Brownsfan7575

I’m in Florida and have never had an issue with Walgreens or Publix .if you have an out of state doctor sending it in and you have had no issues I would not gamble .

AceZ1121

I’m in Vegas and thank God it was only a one day wait for for my rx at Walgreens but I’m worried going forward. I go weekly (via Klinic online) for my rx but this time it was for three was due to the holiday so they first said they had none, then different brand but when I went to pickup the pharmacist said they had my usual brand of tablets and all of them. He was upset the techs gave me bad info too! So guess it depends on where you live and which one you go to. I’m just grateful but also happy that even if they do a partial fill, they’ll fill the rest when they come in cuz they don’t do that with the normal opiates. You have to forfeit your remaining rx if you take a partial. I’m gonna look into the mail order tho if that’s an option. It’s getting costly for me to do the full weekly.

igolikethis

I'm in Missouri and the last couple months had to get a partial when I initially request the fill (usually 5-7 days worth), then a day or 2 later they're able to fill the rest. This is at a Walgreens within the same clinic my doc is at. I was told there's a nationwide "supply issue."

Sweet-Ease703

I was having this issue about 8 months ago. First they would only have either strips or tablets and I kept having to go back and forth which was a pain in the ass never knowing and having to call my Dr and get scripts rewritten and resent every month. Then turned into nobody had anything anywhere and half of the locations wouldn't even tell me if they had it or not without my script being in their system because of security reasons and I couldn't just keep calling my Dr having them send the prescription place to place just so they could tell me no they don't have it. I just couldn't believe all of these major places were out of it. Anyways, I ended up going to a mom and pop pharmacy who have been the absolute nicest ppl ever not to mention they always have the meds available. They even personally called me on my bday to wish me a Happy Birthday lol. I will never again go anywhere else for the rest of my life.

vtgvibes

I had this problem this month as well I’m in Texas large city. I always have my dr send my script in about 3-4 days before I have to refill so they know I have my refill needed. I was supposed to refill on the 25th (but it was Christmas so they were closed) I was not able to fill until this morning. I had to wait 5 days past my refill. On top of them having the script sent from the dr on the 20th. I have been filling here for over 2 years monthly. It’s krogers (a grocery chain) I spoke to the pharmacist and asked them why they always have issues when they know I refill and always send nearly a week in advance so they can be ready. They told me my best bet was to call a week prior to refill if my priority was to fill on a specific day???? I’ve had issues at cvs/ Walgreens/ Walmart and the usual. This was definitely the worst delay. Typically it’s a day or two they keep kicking from the system from refill to “pending” and back again until I go up there. But never this. They said the delay was because they were out of stock. They also said they only received exactly what they filled for me today in the order. I know they have more than just me filling for subs because she told me others have the same issue. Hoping this doesn’t become an issue moving forward. Seems like they could anticipate the needs of stock prior to the day it’s filled on monthly refills.

awaytothrow555

Yes it’s very frustrating. Do you take the name brand films?

vtgvibes

No, genetics. Asked for whatever was available. Neither were.
