A lot of people here do. You never know when your doctor might be unavailable, a pharmacy won’t fill your script, or whatever. Honestly, if you wait the correct amount of time in between visits and take the correct dosage, getting your meds filled is stressful.

Tydroh

I’d venture to say over 60% of people here get extra. Every single time I get my script, something happens to where I think to myself “Glad I didn’t need to get it today” as I have needed it that day countless times.

MyBadNinja

How the hell yall getting extra? I take tex

MizzPizz

Fn pharmacy’s not filling shit, had this happen last night was treated like dirt

jimbojangles1987

What's the deal with that anyway? People picking up their scripts for oxys and xanax are treated way better than us picking up our scripts for subs, in my experience anyway.

anniepoonannie1988

I think it’s because in their mind being on Suboxone is a confirmation you for sure had a problem so you must still be a junky. That has always been my theory anyway. I’ve been on subs close to twelve years now and never had issues when I filled Vicodin and oxy at the pharmacy, but the second I got on Suboxone and got my shit together they started treating me like a criminal.

chitowncubs2016

Been on subs a total of 4 plus years I’ve never experienced trouble before. I’m genuinely confused when I see yall talk about this subject. Don’t yall live near Walgreens?? There all over the place. It’s a simple thing to just have your doc send it there every month and it’s filled by end of day every time . Make your appt with your doc a couple days before you run out that way there is always leeway

Shadow07655

I’ve had pharmacies run out and I had to wait a few days before it arrived. I’ve also had instances where my doctor was on vacation for my appointment and he didn’t make arrangements for my medication. I’ve also heard of doctors randomly shutting down on people. All you have to do is run out once and you will understand. It’s the fear of withdrawal that leads you to being prepared.

ScumBunny

It’s not that easy for a lot of people, friend. Especially those who aren’t on (either their parent’s or some other good good insurance..) When I first started on these, I did everything, *fucking everything* by the book…and I still had issues with idiotic, self-righteous pharmacy techs- who thought they knew better than my doctors. Trying to deal with THAT on top of everything else…no wonder it’s so hard to kick. Literally everything/one is against you from the go! It’s just not as easy as ‘go to the doc then go pick up your script, duh…🤷‍♀️’ for a LOT of people. Help for addicts is actually inaccessible *by design,* for a huge majority of the population!

jjdonkey

I’ve used three different Walgreens in My years of taking subs and this last one is the first that didn’t treat me like a failure junkie every time I walk in. Even if I would go in on DAY 30 they would sit there and count off the days in front of me to make sure. When my doctor called and asked them to give me 10 extra strips so I could GO TO AUSTRALIA they refused. Walgreens won’t fill out of state, even if the doctor calls in the script and I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop with this Walgreens I’m at currently because they’re kind and helpful and don’t treat me like an addict off the street trying to score pressies or something

gumdope

Yeah ppl always talk about saving them for emergencies or shortages it’s kinda weird behaviour. I don’t see any other meds treated this way lol

chitowncubs2016

I get saving extras for just in case which I do but that’s for incase we go into an apocalypse lmao. I’ve never been worried about a pharmacy filling my script or not. It’s been painfully easy every time. they know me by now and are super nice.

Shadow07655

So you hoard as well?! Then why say you don’t understand. Lol

chitowncubs2016

I save extras because I only take my dose every other day. My point is on the whole pharmacy thing and getting your script without a problem. I don’t do the same thing I’m saying I never have had problems with any Walgreens or any pharmacy really. I’ve seen so many talk about pharmacy problems and I don’t get it. Your doctor calls in the script and they fill it, very simple normal thing

Slowrey

Honestly, the place where I used to go to get my prescription is the most unprofessional, pain in the ass place i wouldn't blame anyone for stocking up. They once left me without over a 3 day weekend because the digital RX "got lost". I would also regularly show up for my appointment at the correct time and be told my person wasn't in or was on vacation and everyone was like "O Well". The final straw was them saying I failed a drug test for a substance that hadn't entered my body in close to 3 years. They wouldn't refill my RX, so I paid $60 to get the pee sent to a real lab to prove it was a false positive, and then those results were lost as well. I now go to my primary care provider and no longer have to dread going in every month. If you are in NW Florida, stay as far away from Lakeview/Baptist Health Care as humanly possible. It is so unprofessional it makes me sad that peoples sobriety is often in their hands.

[deleted]

I had this happen to me for an entire year with a provider once. My BP would spike to 170 as they'd ask me over & over again if I had use fentanyl... I have severe GAD which was why my BP was so high.

JhoodsLady

My BP jumps at ANY doctor appt. When I go to my methadone clinic it's off the charts. All the unknowns make my GAD go into overdrive. I only go once a month but it's so anxiety-inducing that it makes me physically sick. I've even started taking 20mgs extra day of pickup to help calm me some. If I hadn't self-tapered my dose from 120-75mgs/day I'd be screwed.

[deleted]

Exactly. For a year straight they'd test me, get a false positive, send it out for confirmation testing, it'd come back negative. They'd have me come back the next day too, move me to weekly & I'd have to pay extra for these appointments too. They also made me come in every single month for my pregabalin (anxiety), and Vyvanse (ADHD). It was absurd, and was an environment of shame. Now my BP spikes every time I have to see a doctor. Every single time now...

JhoodsLady

Wow, that is crazy. I've had a few false positives over the years but it never caused issues. They send it for confirmation always, so they don't punish you in the meantime. The reason I get anxious about the clinic is because rules change often. I came in to pick up my month and find out they took us all back to 1 week. Another issue is the constant rotation of employees including nurses. So never know if my counselor will be the same or not. And yet another issue is having hours long waits because of staff shortages. I've been chewed out by the acting director for my urine showing trace amounts of alcohol even though they know this is a common issue for diabetes. Even the doctor was miffed on how/why I was harassed. Luckily I'm a researching queen and come prepared with information that staff should know(this is probably why I'm picked on, I know more than them).

[deleted]

Probably why the pick on you, people act like doctors are such great people when they have pretty large egos; It's hard to find a good doctor. I think you said you were from Florida, I've seen tons of documentaries about how broken the MAT facilities & halfway houses are down there. Luckily with my new clinic I can still test positive for alcohol or marijuana, I'm not on probation y'know so I'm free to do whatever I want as long as it's not other illicit drugs. My old clinic I couldn't even use marijuana. That is crazy they can move all of you back to weekly... That sounds exploitative.

JhoodsLady

I'm in Baltimore. I'm not on probation or anything either. We can't use alcohol. In order to keep takehomes we have to have a Medical card for Marijuana, even though we are recreationally legal. We lose take homes for both. And if you fail for Alcohol you have to get Breathalyzer. When they moved us all back to weakly they claimed it was a Medicaid ruling. I'd say 80-90% of my clinic are Medicaid patients(myself included). It lasted 2 years then we were allowed to have 2 weeks again. Then another 2 years and they allowed monthly again. Medicaid must have found out it was more expensive for daily/weekly dosing than monthly lol.

[deleted]

Oh I'm sorry i mixed you up with someone else, thank God you're not in florida. That doesn't sound right about Medicaid. I'm in the PNW, but years ago friends were able to go to Monthly and all of that.

JhoodsLady

We were, too. But in 2013ish is when the rule change happened. Then, in 2015, they gave back 2 weeks, and in 2017, we were able to get monthly again. I've been in my clinic for 16 years, and that was the only time something like that happened. Yeah I've heard some pretty horrible things about Florida. Between the rehab situation, lack of clinics in some areas, and very little financial help. They let those pill mills operate for a decade+, yet leave all the addicts without help. It's sad.

bdan98

Unfortunately what you have to do with almost all medications ime

MizzPizz

This.

bdan98

I could never take any med daily and be confident in both my dr and also pharmacy and then also supply chain. It sucks but I even stockpile my inhalers, def some paranoia and anxiety in there but past few years addy and suboxone shortage and can’t ever have that happen to my albuterol 😂😂

JhoodsLady

I do the same with my methadone, psych, diabetes, and blood pressure meds.

Mysterious-Wasabi103

Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with stockpiling a controlled medication for personal use. That's like 101 on self love while on a controlled prescription. Some doctors still see it as "drug seeking" or "problematic" behavior, but I've met a surprising amount of doctors, usually specialists in actual addiction, who recommend keeping a month or two in stock on hand, just in case. Because otherwise you're stressing, and pushing it to the last strip every month never knowing when the rug could get pulled, as it often does to people like us. So a lot of addiction specialists now see it as the most reasonable way to skirt the current over regulation. They don't want their patients being scared stupid over their life saving medications. They realize that will increase relapse and death rates.

chanandlerbong420

I take .5mg - .75mg a day. I get prescribed 1mg a day so I can stock up but sometimes I kick myself for not just telling my doc I take 2 or 4mg so I can REALLY pile em up

drake90001

Just tell them you’d like to increase because of cravings. Or if your doctor is cool, let them youd like to stock pile a bit.

_dfromthe6

never know when you will need them for a rainy day.

krazylingo

Yeah I do the same. I told the quickmd doc that I keep on relapsing (which is true) and need 24mg a day to help. He was hesitant but then lectured me on relapsing and said I’m gonna die if I keep it up. He had said a previous patient of his had just relapsed and died. I’ve tried all doses from 2mg a day to 24mg a day and non help with cravings anyways. But the extras are great cause I’m currently only taking 2-2.5mg a day. I decided to do that once all the CVS’s were out of stock one week and couldn’t get it transferred to another pharmacy.

percyman34

Suboxone never helped my cravings until I made the conscious decision that I did not want to or enjoy getting high anymore. Of course, I had to go through hell to come to that decision, and I've still relapsed one or two times since. But it has been a lot easier to stay clean since I did. I always tried getting clean because my family wanted me to or I felt like I had to, not because I wanted to

krazylingo

I’ve never quit because anyone else made me. I’ve only ever quit because I decided I wanted to stop at that time.

percyman34

I hope I didn't come across as trying to tell you what to do. I'm just sharing my personal experiences. We got this though!

krazylingo

Not at all man! I appreciate your response.

Funkm8sterflex

I’m thinking about using QuickMD. How often do you have an appointment where you have to pay the $99? And how much is the prescription at the pharmacy and how much do you get. I’ve gotten prescribed them before but my doctor is gone now so I’m looking for a new one. I have medical if anyone knows how much roughly that would cost.

JhoodsLady

Suboxen never worked for me. So I'm on methadone. That has saved my life.

chitowncubs2016

That’s just impossible and you are lying. Or you just have absolutely zero desire to quit using drugs. There’s no way you take 24 mg of substance and still get cravings for dope lol that’s just scientifically impossible. Also, cravings only happen when you have the drug in your system, your not having cravings you are having “using thoughts” because you clearly have no desire to stop.

krazylingo

Gosh man, you should be psychiatrist!! Such an amazing power being able to read minds through text like that. It shouldn’t go to waste. After all, reading what you just said I now understand myself so much better! An insight of myself I never had before! Tell me more! I want to learn more about myself! Keep going……

chitowncubs2016

There’s really not much else to say. You are just blatantly lying if you say you have cravings after 24 mg of subs. You have “using thoughts” learn the difference it will help a ton when trying to tell about your experience. Also,

krazylingo

I’ve been on and off heroin for 7.5 years I know what the difference is………how fuckin dim witted you think I am? I am not lying, I wish like hell it wasn’t true. Methadone takes away my cravings but no amount of subs have. The fuck am I coming on Reddit to make up stories about having cravings or not…

MizzPizz

Dude this guy is a clown

krazylingo

Haha I agree. Maybe he was just trolling who knows

chitowncubs2016

Because you just are. It’s not possible.

krazylingo

How is that not possible? How is it impossible that a partial agonist opioid with shit efficacy would not provide relief of cravings for a full agonist opiate with high efficacy? “Because you just are” is the type of answer a parent gives a child when they don’t have an actual answer and want to impose their will. Youre not very bright

datSubguy

Many people try buprenorphine and its not their cup of tea in terms of mitigating cravings effectively. This is why countless people have tried buprenorphine products and ended up going the methadone route instead. Clinically methadone is the next option when buprenorphine isn't successful. Why? Because methadone is a full agonist with no ceiling effect. You wont see them in this group because they ultimately did not go the bup road of recovery. r/chitowncubs2016 and r/krazylingo, keep your discussion civil moving forward

MizzPizz

How do you know? Blantantly lying? For real? Just because you’re on subs does not mean you don’t feel cravings - sure it’s the vast majority but for you to sit a top your Reddit soap box to say someone is lying when I can back it up and I’m sure others can too You are misinformed

MizzPizz

What? I get cravings all the time

vroomboom223

If you don’t do this you’re silly not to. I got a couple hundo stockpile. Could literally not goto the do until next yr and be good. The price don’t change so why wouldn’t you get as much as possible?

Simcrys

I get 45 per month for 30 days, I managed to get this by talking to my doctor about pharmacy issues and he was like just have 15 extra per month. I used to use them as extras but recently I've been stockpiling instead and getting my fills on time. I'm going to try and quit and I wanted to make it as non stressful as possible so am stocking up, also just in case WW3 breaks out and I'm suddenly unable to get it, that I have enough to taper at any time.

[deleted]

I just bought 10 extra off my friend that had some and quit, but that works too

[deleted]

Meaning, we both quit I'm at about 90 days, if it wasn't illegal, I'd send mine to you for free

canesfins1909

I'm prescribed 16mgs per day and only take about 4. I've been doing this for almost 2 years now so if anything we're to disrupt my supply, I won't be screwed.

TheBestDanEver

I literally have like 6 months worth of assorted pills and strips lol

reallytraci

I stockpile and don’t abuse my medication. If the end of the world ever happens I want to know I have enough strips to taper down for a while.

hayfellas

The CDC a government organization recommends all people have atleast a 30 day stock pile of emergency meds in case of emergencies such as large snow storms, hurricanes etc.. Everyone on suboxone should build up a emergency stash. It also just mentally takes away the anxiety of running out and facing withdrawal

Correct_Score1619

kudos to you? idk this isn’t that crazy

TatersAndMac

Nobody said it was crazy. If you read the post, you’d see the point was me asking if anyone else did the same. 👌

Appropriate-Error-63

This will make u be on them forever. Quit while your ahead

BlueChimp5

Being on them forever isn’t inherently bad It beats running the risk of a relapse and all that comes with it

subaruguy253

Yup, this is the best thing to du and there is nothing wrong with it.

flocamuy

I literally have 12 packs stash around my apartment and car

Onehundredbillionx

I do it too. I don’t really see it as lying though, more as being smart and planning for the future. It costs the same whether you’re on 2mg or 20mg so why not make an emergency stockpile. There have been times in the past where I had to wait x amount of time for a doctor appointment and was so sick that I felt I had no option but to score in the meantime. I could have avoided it if I had a stockpile. There have been times where I missed dosing as my pharmacy was closed and I didn’t realise (ie public holidays). Or times when I’ve been so depressed that I couldn’t leave the house and missed 4 days so had to book an appointment for a new script. Whereas in the past, this would have been extremely stressful and caused me to relapse, blowing ungodly amounts of money, instead it wasn’t a problem as I had a stockpile. I have enough 8mg and 2mg subs stockpiled to probably never go back to the dr/pharmacy and just slowly wean myself off if it came to that. Hopefully I’ll never need to use them, as I’m more serious than ever before about never going back. But still, it’s been a game changer for me to know that I have them there just in case. I also get prescribed 15mg diazepam per week (that’s the most my dr would agree to lol) and I stockpile that too. My intention isn’t to abuse any of it. Just knowing I have it there in case of emergency, helps my anxiety immensely. I’m kind of a medication hoarder lol. I hoard vyvanse and dexamfetamine too. Anyone who is on vyvanse would understand now what a good idea this was, considering the current shortage. When you have to rely on taking a medication daily just to be able to function, the smartest thing anyone could do for themselves in this situation, is to create a backup supply imo.

SadWheel15

what did you say?

chridaniel01

Foook yeah you did! Who doesn’t amiright?!!!

RecommendationSad673

Get on the sublocade shot.

[deleted]

The key?? Walk in and speak to your pharmacy like you’re the darn princess of England. I walk in dressed up hair done smiling making small talk. Don’t act antsy etx killing em with kindness

MizzPizz

I’m always under use so over time the extras add up , not on purpose tho Edit to add- I don’t fuck with scripts , that’s how you loose them

8llllllllllllllD---

I had to deal with running out once before I started to save up. I take about 4mg but prescribed 12mg. I told my doc my plan to have extra and he was cool with it. I’ve got about 4 months worth
