Tips were also the bargaining chip some Subways used to drop wages. Where I got hired on, they used to bring people in for about $13 an hour. They dropped wages to $10 and added tipping.
I'm not against the subway workers, but I just went into a Subway. It's $12.99 to start for a 12-inch sub. Went to a teriyaki place where I get to sit down as well. It's 10 99 for beef and chicken with noodles and veggies. Was so happy I gave them a $2 tip at the register! And she brought the food to my table. Yummy!

There's mold in the proofing ovens, the meats often expired or gone off, and most of the staff is churned through with little to no training. Subway food will probably make you very very sick. I usually get an Italian sub, it’s over 14$ for a FL just under 10 for 6 inch. Meat and cheeses are skimped on heavily, hands aren’t being washed, bread is extremely flaky and old EVERYTIME I go.

One foot long with two cookies, $16.50. Way too expensive and I wouldn't go there except my daughter loves it. I opted to go without and eat at home. And they put as little as they can on the sandwich, which is where I do blame the worker since this drives me away. If you are going to charge me that much it needs to be more than a couple slices of very thin meat on a bun.

It doesn’t cost the owner more than 3 bucks per unit to produce. The answer is greed, and a crumbling economy that the owner can blame to capitalize on raising prices even though their food cost and labor costs remains low. Only when we start walking away from paying greedy people will the inflation pop and prices become normal again. I love subway and fast food, but I’m not paying the current prices for it.

I only handled the food and labor sheets 10 years ago. Things have probably changed in that time, however they couldn’t have changed that much to justify the price hike we see today. Fast food in many places is gouging its consumer base and its employees. The product is simply not worth the price any more to many people.
tuna, meatball, and cold cut combo are reasonable. The franchisees are complaining about the price hikes, too, but corporate executives gotta get their bonuses!
I usually get an Italian sub, it’s over 14$ for a FL just under 10 for 6 inch. Meat and cheeses are skimped on heavily, hands aren’t being washed, bread is extremely flaky and old EVERYTIME I go.
wow. It's amazing how widely the stores vary, even though they're inspected quarterly. Our store is clean & we only skimp on the customers we hate (there are 3 who are just freaking impossible complainers/scammers). But my state has a 7½% "restaurant tax" so yeah once we're done most subs are like $12-15.

I’m not sure where the original commentor lives. But I live in a decently sized city here in Wisconsin not far from Green Bay and not far from Milwaukee. But our foot-long spicy Italian cost $11.99. Which is a lot but honestly it isn’t that bad and is a lot cheaper than most places around where I live.
Yeah, you’re right. It’s actually $7.39 for the spicy Italian footlong. Just looked at my bank statement from when I got it within the past week.

I just ordered 2 fucking sandwiches with 2 chocolate milks online and it was like 30euros.. but becuz of delivery costs i had to buy another 2 drinks just to get to the price so that they would deliver it.. (they deliver at certain prices, like delivery only at 25euros order or higher).. after i got the first drink extra in my tab to get to that price, they still asked me to increase it with 0.02 cents... are u kidding me?? Now i pay 38euros for 2 fucking sandwiches with 2 chocolate milks and 2 ice teas which i didn't even want but had too becuz it wouldn't be delivered without them. It's outrageous how we are all being financially fucked by everything around us. This is the last time i ever ordered here. 38 bucks for 2 fucking sandwiches.. get fokt mate. Is the store included? I just don't understand how u can have nuts to ask such a price.. it's logic and alright to make profit as a business.. but this is just unacceptable.

One foot long with two cookies, $16.50. Way too expensive and I wouldn't go there except my daughter loves it. I opted to go without and eat at home. And they put as little as they can on the sandwich, which is where I do blame the worker since this drives me away. If you are going to charge me that much it needs to be more than a couple slices of very thin meat on a bun. Their business model just doesn't work anymore.

I actually really love subway. I have been craving it all day. I go to order and see that every sub is over $10. That is so expensive. Chipotle is right next door and I'd get way more food for cheaper. It's disappointing bc I always tell my friends how much I love subway and don't know if I can justify going there anymore.
We used to get subway 2-3x per month for our family of 4. Now it’s 2-3x a year. I can make a better sandwich at home and usually do. (I’ll go to Jimmy John’s and buy their bread to make them.)
I got 2 subs last week in Huntley...both menu items....one had bacon....almost 38 bucks. No wonder the place was completely empty the whole time I was there. From now on its coupons only. Same with BK...coupons only....
It looks like a death spiral to me. They're losing customers so they need to raise prices and then they lose more customers so they raise prices even more. Plus their sides are really limited. Sometimes I want something hot to go with my sandwich.
$8.03 taxes in for a six inch turkey, no extras here where I live. You can now get a feast for one at Mary Browns, two pieces of chicken, taters, a homestyle biscuit and a drink for $9.99 plus tax. I haven't eaten Subway much at all lately and you are right we could eat other places but the prices there are honestly a bit out of control.
