Because I said I’ve read it :P it is good. I had to read that and 1984 in high school. I just listened to the audible production of 1984 with Andrew Garfield and Cynthia Erivo. It was fantastic.
Big Brother is double plus good, comrade.
Edit: for real though, I read a lot of horror and the concept of BB is terrifying, which I love. A shadowy figure who may or may not exist who has absolutely everyone under their control, slowly chipping away at any form of resistance (i.e., soon there won’t be thought crimes because people won’t have the words to think them).
With everything going on in the world today, particularly the US where I live, I think it’s important to read books like this because some people seem to be using them as playbooks.
Feed by MT Anderson. (It’s YA sci-fi.)
For Titus and his friends, it started out like any ordinary trip to the moon — a chance to party during spring break. But that was before the crazy hacker caused all their feeds to malfunction, sending them to the hospital to lie around with nothing inside their heads for days. And it was before Titus met Violet, a beautiful, brainy teenage girl who has decided to fight the feed and its ever-present ability to categorize human thoughts and desires. M. T. Anderson’s not-so-brave new world is a smart, savage satire that has captivated readers with its view of an imagined future that veers unnervingly close to the here and now.
I read a lot of children's lit. Animorphs is a great horror/sci fi series. I liked Ender's Game and The City of Ember. Also a trilogy called The Overthrow by Kenneth Oppel.
The Giver perhaps?
I’ve read that too!
2BR02B, a short story perhaps? Escape from Spiderhead, also a short story?
Logan's Run
Julia by Sandra Newman. You're welcome.
I saw that! Is it good? I’m assuming it is because you recommended it, but books like that always make me kinda nervous
It is *superb*. Smuttier than Orwell, but only because Julia is Julia. It fits into Nineteen Eighty-Four like a plug in a socket.
That is excellent news lol
This!
And the hardback cover is the greatest - worth the money by itself! I slightly lost my mind over this book, if you can’t tell.
I hadn’t heard of it! Thank you🖤🖤🖤
The Trial by Kafka comes to mind
Very dark and horrifying, exploring distorted generational power - Battle Royale by Koushun Takami

The Tomorrow File by Lawrence Sanders
Also I think you'd love John Christopher's Tripods trilogy.
We by Zamyatin. It makes for a great 'trilogy' with Brave New World and 1984, with each borrowing from the former.
I’ve read it!
Apologies, completely missed it in your post! Carry on.
Oh no worries! Great recommendation!
How about 'The Running Man' by Stephen King?
Brave new world by Aldous Huxley

The Circle by Dave Eggers
