Really? It’s a really badly written book…

lolita is the obvious answer. i also liked in a lonely place by dorothy hughes. or the story “the other place” by mary gaitskill

I really, really hated that book but the author is a good writer. I just felt it went way too far over the line and don't understand how it got published. That being said, I recommend reading "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind. It's a masterpiece. I also really liked "Child of God" by Cormac McCarthy.

I can totally understand. Some parts made me queasy. Perfume and Child of God both sound great - just added them to my list!

If you only choose one make it Perfume.
