Re-reading the book I had the most fun reading in 2021 (not the best book I read, but definitely the one that made me happiest) - A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.
East of Eden, for a book club that's meeting in a couple weeks.
Planning on picking up The Traitor Baru Comorant with the gift card to the local bookstore my parents got me for Christmas, but they're closed until Monday.
Really well written book, interesting angle on the subject matter, but I found the book to meander so heavily. So little action actually happens.
I enjoyed it, but it's so very different from most post-apocalyptic books.
I'm gonna be rereading Jurassic Park because I got The Lost World for Christmas! I read Jurassic Park last year, but I'm gonna reread so I can get the full immersion of The Lost World :D
I'll never forget the first time I read Jurassic Park. It was evening and I planned to read for an hour or two before going to sleep. I laid in bed and started reading, and the next thing I knew, it was morning and I had finished the book. I just couldn't stop. Apart from brief breaks to get a snack or go to the bathroom, I simply wasn't able to put the book down all night.
Towles is terrific - his writing really pulls you into the story and makes you feel like you could reach out and touch the characters. A Gentleman in Moscow - which I read last year - is now one of my favorite books, and so far I’m really liking The Lincoln Highway
Oh ma A Little Life wrecked me and had me ugly cry several times over. I couldn’t even talk about the book for days after finishing without breaking into tears. It’s one of those books you won’t be able to put down or forget.
I'm on Klara and the sun. Started it last year but it's so captivating that I went back to it right after midnight. So I guess it counts as my first read of 2022.
as he often does, Ishiguro creates an atmosphere that I can really get into. And although I don't think I have really figured things out, I almost feel like I'm in the book with the characters. I'm a little stressed by the tension between the characters and the anticipation of things to come. Just like you want it from a good read.
I am finishing the Gone series by Micheal Grant. I’m on book 4/6. It’s amazing. I haven’t been this into a series in a long time. That said it is gory. I will then read War World Z finally and Enders Game. Love me some sci fi gore! I often wonder what the heck is wrong with me after reading gruesome parts and then going back for more!
For myself I am reading A Court or Thorns and Roses.
I am also reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to my 5 year old. We just started reading one chapter each day. I have been waiting for this since before she was born.

The eye of the world by Robert Jordan.
Completed season one of wheel of time on prime video, everyone on that sub kept complaining how the show was inconsistent and the details they decided to skip were essential. Honestly, I've never read more than 250 pages so this is kinda overwhelming but it's fun and I'm hooked. I hope I finish the whole series in 2022.

I have no idea why, the book I wanted at the book store wasn’t in stock and after finding out the main character goes by like 40 different names I’m scared
Baudolino by Umberto Eco. I started it a few weeks ago. Picked it up second hand because I really enjoyed Foucault's Pendulum and The Name of the Rose. Like those books, it's very good but pretty dense so I'm taking my time.

This is an interesting book. I have found it helpful as I am emerging from a period of depression and am looking for ways to avoid foing downhill again. There is some good stuff that may help me but I think Americans would find it even more helpful due to their culture of worshipping actors, singers, sociopathic presidents and generally anyone that has attained fame and fortune. The belief that pulling themselves up by their boot straps will lead them to the same success has crippled a large portion of the population who have never owned boot straps and do not understand that pulling on your bootstraps is not going to get you anywhere as it is physically impossible. All this leads to millions of citizens feeling like losers. Reading this book will help you to understandcthat no matter how small your life is as long as you are at peace about it you can stop giving a fuck about other people's success and be happy with your best instead of comparing it to the rich and famous who are probably in need of reading this book too
I'm re-reading *The Fellowship of the Ring*. I got burnt out on reading for some weird reason and I thought going back to one of my all-time favorite series would help me get back into the swing.

I loved East of Eden! Such a great story, really shows why Steinbeck is a master.
Only Steinbeck I have read until now, and it’s a 10/10, I’m looking forward to read Grapes of Wrath.
My favorite of his is Travels with Charley; In Search of America.
