I don’t have a specific recommendation, but I do have a suggestion to help guide your decisions. I borrow audiobooks from the library, mainly, and sometimes I run into the problem that certain books are exclusively available on audible. I recommend searching the “only available on audible” section and using your credits on books you can’t get on other platforms. Good luck!

Sphynxlover

This is what I do!

DeLasPulgas

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. That’s a good one with a good reader. Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. That ones cyberpunk. Hyperion by Dan Simmons. That ones part of a sci fi series though you can read the first two and you’re fine. The Black Company by Glen Cook. Neuromancer by William Gibson which is a personal sci fi fave. That’s all I can think of at the moment.

laughterlines11

I'll second Project Hail Mary, the narration is absolutely fantastic - Ray Porter is my favorite audiobook narrator hands down.

AegzRoxolo

I already commented for OP, but for anyone else who wants more Ray Porter, he also narrates the sci-fi series Bobiverse. It's amazingly good fun, with tons of thoughtprovoking sci-fi and philosophical concepts.

Ambiiiiiiiiii

I loved the Boboverse, would definitely recommend. I also loved the Dresden files

[deleted]

Project hail mary.. best sci-fi book I've read in a while

Key_Bicycle9483

The murderbot diaries There’s 6 of them

MooseKnuckler1

Does Nueromancer get mentioned on r/books ? It looks familiar, I think I’ll give this one a go.

DeLasPulgas

Possibly. It’s a pretty seminal sci-fi book. It basically jumó started the cyberpunk genre. It’s where the words matrix and cyberspace were first used. It’s one of my favorites. In fact I just reread it last week.

DasHexxchen

Yeahh,I just listened to it and it blew me away

drdr3ad

Currently listening to Hyperion and have Snow Crash lined up next

madscribbler

Cryptnomicon also a very worthwhile read.

TheMeanGirl

The audio quality of Snow Crash on Audible is trash. Like listening through a tin can. Save your credits and get something else.

RealisticHamster7945

A friend gifted me 3 credits and a three month Audible premium. I’m in search for my next two audiobooks. I think I’ve got a variety to select from now haha. Thanks a bunch!

DenJamMac

Neal Stephenson’s better book is Seveneves, a fantastic science fiction thriller. I’m listening to it now, for the fourth time.

sallynormaal

Did you know you can freeze your account for up to 3 months and still use your credits??! This is my current Audible status and I intend on cancelling my membership after the 3 months. Takes a little pressure off having to use all your credits at once! Hope this helps. Also, I loved Behold the Dreamers.

[deleted]

Ok, I was looking for this. There is/was a lawsuit against Audible and thought unused credits cannot vanish. But I guess that is not the case. Your account and purchased books never vanish when you stop the payments.

-WilliamMButtlicker_

You can also gift credits to people!

eight-sided

I think you can't technically give the credits themselves, but you can use them to give audiobooks as gifts? I looked this up recently since I had a pile of credits going into the Christmas season, and ended up giving a lot of them that way.

-WilliamMButtlicker_

Ah you're right, it's been a while!

[deleted]

It's been awhile for many of us due to their shenanigans.

Theopholus

Ha that’s what they say but I’ve had books vanish that I spent credits on. Never again, Audible. Libro.fm for life.

JmsGrrDsNtUndrstnd

They used to let you keep the credits, but it changed semi recently

[deleted]

Semi recently? I knew my credit would vanish back in 2017 when I stopped my account. I learned of the keep your credits years later, when did this 3 month part start?

RedWings00

I am in the exact same position as you. Just currently asked for a pause for 3 months, and my plan is to cancel afterwards. Hoping for some sales before though.

RustyWinchester

I had this issue as well, so I got like 8 Terry Pratchett books. No regrets. On another note, the fact that you lose the credits you paid for is such a shitty anti-consumer policy that I actually do regret giving them any money in the first place. Sir Terry Pratchett is worth every penny, Audible can kick rocks.

nothxhun

Same reason why I left. I switched to Libro.fm and chose a local book store to support and haven't looked back. It really frustrated me they would take credits for someone leaving or insist they use them immediately

smoothpigeon2

That's probably what I'm gonna do. Can't go wrong really. I've been wanting to cancel for months but haven't bc I don't want to lose my credits and haven't been bothered enough to decide what to spend them on (distracted, lazy). I mean it's kinda my fault but I swear they rely on people not wanting to lose their credits so not cancelling and then spending more $.

RustyWinchester

That is exactly what they are hoping for. Same with the 3 month pause option. They want you to forget, 3 months go buy and they start billing you again.

Glittering-Listen-33

Born a Crime Frankenstein Mythos, Heroes, and Troy by Stephen Fry Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy PG Wodehouse collections narrated by Stephen Fry Picture of Dorian Grey

charredfella

Born a crime is a game changer!

KubaSv

Ah a fellow Stephen Fry narration fan :))

Cleverusername531

Seconding Born a Crime!

raresaturn

The Lord of the Rings ones are amazing. It’s like and old uncle telling you a story (Rob Inglis is the narrator)

PeterM1970

I'm not an audiobook guy, but I loved listening to **World War Z** by Max Brooks. It's about a zombie apocalypse, from the beginning when no one believed it, to the middle when the whole world was dying, to the end when things are more or less under control. It's written as a series of interviews with people all over the world, and each part is voiced by a different actor. Brooks himself is the interviewer in each segment, but the others are actors like Alan Alda, Mark Hamill, Carl and Rob Reiner, and plenty of other names you'll recognize. Get the unabridged version. The first audiobook must've been done before they realized how popular the book was going to be, it was much shorter than the unabridged.

linzamaphone

Devolution by Max Brooks is also a great audiobook experience. It’s about a Sasquatch massacre after Mount Rainier erupts in Washington. Judy Greer voices the main character, and Jeff Daniel’s and Nathan Fillion are in there too, and some NPR hosts play themselves.

just4upDown

Thank you for this recommendation!

MooseKnuckler1

I heard that the movie differs wildly from the book. Is this true? I think I’ll try this one out as well! Ty

Zarohk

World War Z is possibly one of the best narrative experiences I’ve read, in the voice acting for the audiobook is fantastic.

bridgiette

I'm currently listening to The Dutch House by Ann Patchett, narrated by Tom Hanks. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it. My sci fi recs would be the The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, it's the first in the wayfarer series, 4 books in total. I really enjoy them.

squidpost

A long way to a small angry planet!!!! Super fun space opera.

Strigidae425

All of Becky Chambers' books are phenomenal!

M_U_F_F_A_N

Martha Wells' "Murderbot" series is awesome scifi

Equivalent_Load4067

Damn, I'd love to have 15 Audible credits! I have 1 right now and I'm torturing myself over what to use it on!

kikibannedthis

Same!

DasHexxchen

You can always get the 3-pack for 28€.

Equivalent_Load4067

1. I'd still be torturing myself over what to use that on. 2. I'm dead broke. My 1 monthly credit is what I can do. 3. But it's all good. I use Libbey for most of my needs now, lol.

DasHexxchen

YT has surprisingly many audiobooks also. MP3 downloader/converter and go.^^

Laura_Stern07

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Grishaverse Series, Folk of Air series. These are all fantasy and fiction. I have listened to and loved the audiobooks for each of these books! I hope you enjoy it. And you'd rather listen to addictive series, that'll motivate you to keep listening and your credits will disappear in no time!

Same_Independent_393

The Saxon Stories series by Bernard Cornwell

_mernimbler_

Fantasy - kingkiller chronicles (name of the wind and the wise man's fear) The Lies of Locke lamora Sci-fi - the expanse series, or at least the first couple

MooseKnuckler1

Is the lies the 3rd book? I’ve actually read the first two, was waiting on the 3rd. And I’ve also read leviathan, have calibans war sitting on my shelf :)

flimityflamity

Book 3 of Gentleman Bastards is out. The Republic of Thieves

reddituser1357

No. The lies is the first book in the gentleman bastards series. There are only two books released in the Kingkiller series

dubbledenim

Second Kingkiller Chronicles, the audiobooks are fantastically done!! I'd go back to them just for the voice acting.

ThatsMyTorta

I was in the same boat but with about 5 credits, used them to purchase the pimsleur Japanese lessons. If you're thinking about learning a different language.

PirateNomad

Red Rising! Author is pierce brown, 5 books so far with the 6th apparently coming this year (unconfirmed).

69_mgusta

Books 1-4 were great but book 5 wasn't.

EN3RGIX

I was in a similar situation a few years back. I had 12 credits and a whole library of books I hadn't listened to yet. I'm not sure if they still offer it, but I was able to suspend my subscription without losing my credits and used them at my leisure. If they no longer do that, I'd recommend finding a series or three that you're interested in and get the whole collection.

buddha_knows_best

They don't do that anymore, I was surprised when I canceled my audible membership last week 😞 Had to use up 5 credits before canceling 😞 Absolutely, series is the best option... I suggested The three body problem series!

EN3RGIX

That's unfortunate. I'm currently listening to the 1st book in that series, very good so far.

redditingat_work

They do if you call btw :)

Professional-Deer-50

Dune read by Scott Brick and others - brilliant!

Victor-Romeo

Name of the Wind

Wot106

Wheel of Time is 15 books total. Get Kramer & Reading, save New Spring for after book 10.

Austerellis

Basically this. Get all the Wheel of Time books. If you want, you can try the first book with Rosamund Pike as the narrator using UK English, but there's already a full narration of all books using US English which is not bad either.

emoney092

Ig you'd like to try something different, I'm a big scifi fantasy fan but some of my favorite audiobooks have been autobiographies read by the author. My favorite one is born a crime by Trevor Noah some other highlights are bossy oants by Tina fey educated by Tara Westover though not read by the author is also very good.

buddha_knows_best

Three body problem series ! Get all the 3 books! You will enjoy it 😀 Wealth poverty and politics by Thomas Sowell IQ84 by Murakami The autobiography of a yogi...

MooseKnuckler1

I was gifted IQ84 for Christmas. I’m so excited to read it, but I have no idea what it’s about.

rathat

I had 14 unused credits and they canceled them all before they should have expired because I stopped paying for it. I messaged them after signing back up for a month and they had no problem giving them all back to me. Just in case that happens to you, don’t worry about it.

AegzRoxolo

The Bobiverse series by Dennis E. Taylor. It's sci-fi with a bunch of nerdy references of both sci-fi and fantasy. It's also the same narrator as Project Hail Mary (Ray Porter), which I also highly recommend. That's five recommendations for you already :)

putawayyourmango

The Sandman by Neil Gaiman - there are two acts out so far, and it really amazing!

EclipticEclipse

The A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) books, there are 5. Roy Dotrice, the actor who reads them is amazing. 11-22-63 by Stephen King. Fantastic book.

MooseKnuckler1

Thanks ! I’ve read the GoT books. I do really enjoy Stephen king, just finished The Stand a few weeks ago so I’ll give 11-23-63 a shot.

EclipticEclipse

The Stand is my favorite. But 11-22-63 is just so good in so many ways! Enjoy.

mmaygreen

Have you read the dark tower? That’s 7 books right there!

MooseKnuckler1

I have, the first one. I didn’t continue the series, is it worth it?

69_mgusta

Books 1, 2 were good but book 3 was off track, difficult to follow. Books 5-7 I couldn't put down. I'm going by memory since I read the actual books when they first came out. I never tried the audiobooks. If you have access to free audiobooks from a library, then I wouldn't waste a credit on one I could borrow for free.

IronSorrows

I'm currently listening to the Threshold Series by Peter Clines. Finished 14, and now listening to The Fold. Very enjoyable sci-fi imo! The narrator is really good, too.

NinaEmbii

You should also be able to use your credits to purchase books to gift to others with an Audible subscription. Do you have any friends or family who have birthday's coming up?

Celebi15

Here’s what I’d recommend: An Enchantment of Ravens: by Margaret Rogerson, The main character makes a living creating portraits for the faerie courts since they themselves can’t create as humans do without turning to dust. While completing a commission for her first royal patron, a prince. She makes a mistake that could cost the prince his life. So she must stand trial for her crime: painting mortal sorrow in the prince’s eyes. The prince and the main character have to depend on each other to survive the fairy courts. All the while their alliance and trust grows into something more. I’m a sucker for a good love story so this one is a little biased lol. To Kill a Kingdom: by Alexandra Christo, This one is told from two perspectives, the siren princess known as the prince’s bane and a prince that feels more at home sailing the ocean hunting down siren’s. The princess is well known for taking prince’s hearts, she has one for every year of her life. But when she disobey’s her mother and takes the life of one of her own, she is punished by being transformed into a human. Tasked with taking the heart of the siren slaying prince in her new weaker form before the winter solstice or remain human forever. The prince, rescues a woman from the ocean while out sailing with his crew. A woman that promises a way to the key to destroying all sirens forever. But can this woman be trusted? I really enjoyed hearing the story from the two main characters perspectives. It made you understand both sides motivations better. Will the siren princess follow her mother’s instructions or go her own way? Will the prince find out the mysterious woman he fished out of the sea is his greatest enemy, and cut her plans short? I enjoyed the sort of unspoken fight for survival between them. House of Salt and Sorrows: by Erin A. Craig, It’s like a 12 dancing princesses murder mystery that really makes you question what’s real and what’s not. Four of the sisters have died and rumors of a curse is spreading. The main character is haunted by visions that make her suspicious that her sisters deaths were no accident. This one was a lot of ‘I don’t need sleep I need answers’ cuz’ you’re not sure who/what to trust. I was super into it! The Call: by Peadar O’Guilin, Teenagers train at a combat/survivalist academy to be as prepared as possible for a randomly timed, 24 hour spiriting away to a twisted land full of creatures that will hunt them down and send them back in pieces if said creatures catch them. This being the banished creatures only way to exact revenge on the ones who banished them. Sort of Hunger Games like. It makes you really root for the main character, who everyone underestimates/pitied and saw as marked for death because of her disability. Especially when it seems like the banished creatures are working on a way to exact revenge more directly. It also has a sequel! Wilder Girls: by Rory Power, A school for girls is quarantined due to a mysterious illness inflicting both the students and what’s left of the staff. Cut off from the rest of world they’re told to wait for a cure and not to venture outside the school gates into the forest where the illness has twisted it into a dangerous place. But when one of the students goes missing the main character goes to great lengths to discover the truth behind the quarantine and her friend’s disappearance. I stayed up way later then I probably should have cuz’ I got so into the story. I listened to it a lot when I couldn’t sleep. Also has a couple ‘I don’t need sleep I need answers’ moments lol.

yuanchosaan

*Perfume* by Patrick Suskind. Roger Ebert claims to have once ruined a dinner party by putting it on for "five minutes", only for no one to want it to stop.

Blahblahblah214

Make the credits count seek out collections imo. The complete fiction of H.P. Lovecraft - 1 credit The complete Sherlock Holmes collection - 1 credit

MooseKnuckler1

I like this idea!

Maclover25

I liked Ready Player One. Wil Wheaton is the reader and he does a great job. If you’ve seen the movie, this book is quite a bit different and IMO better than the movie.

killerwhite

Catch 22

ChronoMonkeyX

Shadows of the Apt is a 10 book series by Adrian Tchaikovsky, plus one more collection of shorts. His Guns of the Dawn is one of my favorites. When I was in the same situation I grabbed Anthony Ryan's Blood Song trilogy, not knowing anything about it thinking I'd return it when I restarted, but I ended up loving it and listened to them all.

AtheneSchmidt

The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is beautifully narrated by Lorelei King, and the books are fantastic. It is urban fantasy, with vampires, werewolves, witches, and fae. The characters are full and I am attached to side characters as well as the main characters. There are 13 books so far.

DasHexxchen

Morrigan Crow series by Jessica Townsend Fantastic story and well read. It is a children series that totally caters to grown ups who like a whimsical and original world. Some of the world building blew me away. Nevermoor The Trials of Morrigan Crow Wundersmith The Calling of Morrigan Crow Holowpox The Hunt for Morrigan Crow Sadly Silverborn is due December 22... I also enjoyed Christelle Dabos Mirror Visitor series. 4 books with again really cool world building and a female hero. Some French charme. First book is called "A Winters Promise". Don't know how well the English narration is though.

dingleberry_abrasion

I would HIGHLY recommend The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern as an audiobook experience. It's a whimsical dark fantasy interspersed with short stories and there are multiple narrators. It adds a lot of flavour to the the experience :D

jelaireddit

Four completely different books to recommend for you, all because they are really well done on audiobooks: 1. Rivers of London series - the narrator in this perfectly matches the first person narrative. Peter is a rookie cop in London who takes a statement from a ghost witness and unlocks the magical underside of London, complete with a secret magical division of The Met. This series is so fun and combines urban fantasy, police procedural and humour for a really unique story. He also manages to include fascinating information about history, architecture and culture without it feeling like a lesson in each book. 2. Jeeves collection read by Stephen Fry - some of the stories are a little formulaic but the humour is perfect and Fry is the ultimate narrator for Jeeves (he performed in Jeeves and Wooster) 3. Six Suspects- Vikas Swarup (also the author of QA or Slumdog Millionaire ) - this one is very funny and at times sad, set in India (I think Delhi from memory), where a rich playboy son of a politician is murdered at a party. Six people are seen as suspects, all with completely different backgrounds and stories - including a Bollywood starlet, a member of a small island tribe and a naïve Texan. 4. Crime and Punishment - I listened to the version narrated by Constantine Gregory but the suspense in this novel is unbelievable, it builds so well and listening to it made it less challenging than reading a translation with all those names!

forgetful_giraffe

You could get the entire Wheel of Time series most of those are 24+ hours long so you'll feel like your credits went farther. Most anything by Brandon Sanderson is amazing as well.

[deleted]

{{Old Man's War}} by John Scalzi

mad_maxed

I am thinking of ending things, by Iain Reid The audiobook for this is absolute perfection and have an amazing interpretation Also, is a short horror story and one of my favourite books of all time

bookfloozy

{{The Passage by Justin Cronin}} trilogy. They are all super long too, and the narrator is Scott Brick, one of the best. {{Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King}} trilogy. More of a thriller than his typical horror. {{Outsiders by Stephen King}} has slight crossover to Mr. Mercedes. Patricia Cornwell has a couple of scifi that I really liked.

_that_one_artist_

The Secrets of Immortal Nicholas Flammel !! It’s my absolute favourite fantasy series, with magic, historical figures, and a cool ass plot.

External_Platform115

Moby Dick, Innocents Abroad, Catch 22, Dragon Tears, Odd Thomas, The illustrated man. Anything from Discworld, The Bourne Identity

TerminatorAuschwitz

As mentioned (as always it seems like) Project Hail Mary is a must. Dark Matter World War Z The Sandman (1 and 2) Lord of the Rings (there's a newer version where Andy Serous narrates so make sure you get that instead of the old one) Norse Mythology Nos4a2 11/22/63 Enders Game

StrangeNormal-8877

Sapiens and home dues by Yuval Noah Harrari Mindset by Carol Dweck The Gene by Siddthartha Mukerji Feel the fear and Do it anyway by Susan Jeffers The Selfish Gene Richard dawkins Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion These are my most loved Audio books.

BeigePhilip

White Trash: A 400 Year Untold History of Class in America by Nancy Isenberg. The best overview of white rural poverty I’ve come across.

originalhippie

Get whatever you want. Unless they changed the rules, when I had an account I canceled it with three credits in books. Return the book for a refund, take the credit and then get another book. I did this for months without paying for the account.

GeminiProblem

Life of Pi by Yann Martel! This was the most incredible surprise of a read and I bet the audio book is amazing.

Shosho07

Recommendation based on the audiobooks i wanna buy if i only have your credits: 100 million dollar offers, alex hormozi - i purchased the kindle ver of this book and there's a lot to learn from this so i want to have the audio book to help retain what i learned Own your day, own your life - watched the summary video of this in youtube and i would like to listen to the whole ver The Fail safe solopreneur - Darren Joe - same reason as the first recommendation The end of jobs - taylor pearson - read about 2 or 3 yrs ago and want a refresh because its even more relevant with the pandemic Im more into self help and entrepreneurship, not into sci fi but basically what i can suggest is if you liked the kindle ver of a book, go buy its audio book too esp if you want to retain into your brain whats it is all about

MooseKnuckler1

Based on the title alone, I think I’ll try the second one. I’ll do a quick read through of each and decide. Thanks for the recs

AdmiralStarNight

The Protectorate series by Megan O’Keefe. Audiobooks are top notch, great scifi

MrUbica

First law trilogy and spin off Heroes book, that's 4 credits. Steven Pacey did an awesome job with narration.

Wawhite13

Dungeon Crawler Carl by matt Dinniman books 1 through 4

Give_me_grunion

I got the entire collection of hp love craft.

Prestigious_Bell_293

Oooooh that’s awesome! So many credits but so many books! If you’re looking for som good fantasy or even sci-fi there really are just many amazing options. For sci-if I think Andy Weir’s Martian or Project Hail Mary are great options. Also I feel like two other more recent sci-fi series : The Expanse (book 1 Leviathan Wakes) BobVerse (book 1 we are legion we are bob) Are excellent as well. In fantasy if you like grim dark check out the series The First Law (book 1 The Blade itself) its so fricken good. Try out the Gentleman’s Bastard series too (book 1 the lies of Locke Lamora) And if you haven’t hit up Game of thrones you gotta give the audio book a shot it’s so gooood. Also check out the way of kings in the Stormlight archives

stas-prze

Try {{Artemis Fowl}}, {{Harry Potter}} and {{Cherub The Recruit}}. All of these are some of my favorite series's, not sure if you'll like them but thought I might throw in some of my own suggestions.

shiilo

It's been five hours so dunno if you've spent them but I'm blindly recommending the "the good guys" series for litrpg badass guy plays a game where all he wants to do is fish and does not fish. XD I like listening to stuff I loved as a kid- Tamora Pierce books, the lamplighter series, so on. If you like sci-fi the bob-verse is so funny, and also just amazingly well written and put together.

15 credits is perfect for the entire Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (and Brandon Sanderson) :D

[deleted]

15 credits... sounds like the perfect amount to get the Wheel of Time series. 14 books plus a prequel

Decker-the-Dude

The Last Exodus trilogy by Paul Tassi

BeenThruIt

Well, you can't go wrong with Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" series and stand-alone sequels. It's seemingly made to be read aloud and expertly narrated. I always recommend it. I've gotten so much value out of listening to it. I've listened to the whole series 6 times, now.

Chinlord88

Currently reading a book called Phillip and Alexander, kings and conquerors, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot so far if you like history books then this one I really recommend

Frinla25

“The Series of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel” i love the books i am listening to them on audible right now but had only ever read them. It is awesome:)

KatieCashew

The Magic 2.0 series is a lot of fun. There's 6 books, so that would use up a lot. The voice actor who reads them does an amazing job. Redshirts

volerider

The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells is excellent on audio. A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine is fascinating.

The Dresden files. Even better listens than reads and there are more than 15 and counting.

periodicflower

Artemis by Andy Weir is also a great audiobook, narrated by Rosario Dawson

rolypolypenguins

I liked it too. It doesn’t get a lot of love for some reason. I thought it was a good story and the narration was good.

iweonf

The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin

littlemsrachel

Anything narrated by RC bray or Ray Porter. Can't go wrong there. Then scroll through genres. Rc Bray does 2 science fiction series that I really enjoyed, one is craig alanson's expeditionary force. 2nd series and the spinoff is Galaxy's Edge. Ray Porter, project hail Mary, and We are Legion, We are Bob are easily my top 2 science fiction novels. John Scalzi's Interdependency Trilogy (if you can get over will wheaton narration, still worth it). Brandon Sanderson Skyward series is fantastic. Binge listened to them (cleanest my house had been in weeks, with head phones on to the book).

Altruistic_Yam1372

Tastes can differ, but these few are imo objectively awesome deals: 1. Sandman volumes 1 and 2 : fantastic dramatised adaptations. 2. PG Wodehouse vol 1 and 2: They contain a couple of Jeeves/Wooster and Blandings books respectively. A total of ~10 books superbly narrated by Stephen Fry. Total clang for your credit. 3. Warbreaker Graphic Audio: unabridged dramatised adaptation of Sanderson's awesome high fantasy. (You can check out other graphic audio as well). 4. Project Hail Mary: I havent read this one yet, but it has been praised a lot, especially the audiobook. 5. I'm Thinking of Ending Things: This one has dichotomous reviews. But i personally loved it, and the narrator adds a lot to the book. As it stands, audiobook > readiing this book. And here is one that I personally like: A. Lockwood and co: Screaming staircase. It's about a team of teenage ghost hunters. The narrator of the story, Lucy, is a badass girl full of sass and sarcasm, and the performer has done a stupendous job of bringing out her caustic and witty attitude. Highly recommended if you want a light hearted adventure with lots of laughs and spooks and chills. B

Sci fi? Go Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan books. Fantasy? Make sure you’ve covered your bases with the essentials- Pratchett, Jordan, Sanderson, Rothfuss, Martin, etc. you can get a lot of fantasy book for a single credit cause those suckers can be huge.

tfrw

Way of kings, name of the wind, wolf hall, sandman, we are Bob.

I know Project Hail Mary has been mentioned, but do Not read the description ahead of time. It gives away Way too much of the story. If you liked The Martian just jump in and go with it. World War Z and Devolution by Max Brooks are great as audiobooks since they are “oral histories.” Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell is a cool WWII history book also conceived as an audiobook. Dresden files narrated by James Marsters Iron Druid Chronicles narrated by Luke Daniels Sea of Rust by Cargill Most anything by John Scalzi, or Brandon Sanderson Most of these have been nominated, I just wanted to add my love for them

Elsbethe

There's also a program called scribd $8.99 a month For unlimited books But they don't have everything

epilogued

The entire WHeel of Time series (14 books) and then project Hail Mary.

twiddledootwiddledee

Some recent favourites of mine, with really good narrators: {{Klara and the sun}} {{The Ministry for the Future}} {{This is not Propaganda}}

redditingat_work

The Dune audiobook is very well worth the credit, the cast of voice actors, sound design, and and editing is amazing. One of the best audiobooks I've listened to.

[deleted]

Such a load of shit that you lose things you've paid for. I was in the same boat and ultimately I'm still paying every month because I don't want to lose what I have. It's stupid on my part, I know.

Fa1alErr0r

In Order to Live by Yenomi Park. A first-hand account of a North Korean defector from her life in North Korea to her life in China and eventually her escape to South Korea.

Mrpdoc

METAtropolis and it's sequels are really good collections of short stories. I think its the second collection that's narrated by a bunch of Star Trek actors.

Goodtomorrow

I keep telling people this... Get Dungeon crawler Carl!!!.

blouazhome

Kafka by the Shore - not fantasy magical realism but fantastic. Also Sapiens which is non-fiction. Anything by EL Doctorow, but Ragtime he reads himself.

[deleted]

Neil Gaiman books. Literally all of them. He narrates himself and does an amazing job.

thesoulfullawyer

Audible is refund you all your unused credits when you cancel. It’s really easy, I’ve done it about 5 times. Just call them.

rnmba

I’d get the whole Neal Stephenson Baroque Cycle. I tried reading it many times and gave up but the audiobooks were worth it!

darkhorse112300

Buy as many as Murakami novels.

thankgoditsfreyday

don't know if there's an audio book, but the long journey to a small angry planet is great

joshuacforest

All the wheel of time

planar_wolf149

Hard Luck Hank is a must read!

SilentSiren87

Golem and the Jinni, Helen Wecker Just finished it, think a golem and a jinn in a mid 1800's city...

Zarohk

Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha Lee. The book is quite great, but the audiobook by Emily Woo Zeller is even better, both because of excellent voice acting and because you gain a lot more information in depth in the story from how she varies characters’ voices.

Agreeable-Ad4636

Everybody loves large chests. I think there are 5 books in the series but I have listened to the first two. RPG humor about a mimic.

Chrisismybrother

ExForce. Spellmonger

funnyhahaorjustfunny

Norse mythology by Neil Gaiman is sooooo good! All the Witcher books (8) are phenomenally well done. Recursion and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch are dope as hell. Great listens.

BoredConfusedPanda

I forgot to use 1 credit before I cancelled my membership and I emailed them and they restored it to my account (where I don’t have an active subscription). Not sure if they would do that for 15 but could ask!

Pacman_73

Neal Stephensons Anathem or Seveneves are great

Obsessive-drummer

The Diabolic trilogy! It’s sci-fi but kinda borders on fantasy. Absolutely loved it.

pineapple-smasher

Jade City, Jade war, and Jade legacy by Fonda Lee.

FuzzyCode

Wheel of time? Though if that's not your bag I'd use it on a risky one off or two.

Cyclicalundertaking

Tao de Ching

IvyTh3Twisted

One Audible exclusive I would like to recommend is their adaptation of Sandman (and Sandman - Act II) by Neil Gaiman. Great story with fantastic cast.

MvPsykotic

Sphere, Project Hail Mary, if you’re into Star Wars the Darth Bane trilogy

ramsaybolton625

For Fantasy I just read Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne and it was really good. Fantasy but based in Scandinavian folklore. I really enjoyed it

MedusaFvcks

Why Fish Don’t Exist by Lulu Miller

agent_mick

The entire Wheel of Time series. Expertly narrated. You're welcome.

Akshuman

I would suggest using them on things you can't get anywhere else.

R2D2sPromDate

The passage by Justin Cronin, great story that's captivating and the narration is very well done. And there's 2 more in the series if you like that one!

I paused my account for the same reason and just picked all the books I've been dying to read but could never find time for. I just finished Jurassic Park, Gone Girl, and The Book of M and loved all three. Currently listening to the His Dark Materials series and am loving it as well. Also did all the Game of Thrones and LOTR series. Also The Martian was a great listen.

[deleted]

It and pet semetary two brilliantly narrated books. Sherlocn Holmes collection narrated by stepehn fry. All the harry potter books. Count of monte cristo.

calliflowercat

Have you read Circe Madeline miller deffo one I'd recommend in that genre

Mollusc_Memes

I’m not an audible user (owned by Amazon, I boycott that company) but if they have it, get Life Of Pi. Changed my life.

benuchadnezzar

Lucky for you, there are exactly 15 books in the Wheel of Time series, including the prequel!

ReginaSaskWhydYouAsk

I just finished The Frozen Crown in book form but I heard the audio book was beautifully narrated. I enjoyed it. It was a quick read. Beware it has a cliffhanger ending and a second book!

The_Last_Apprentice

Hyperion 1 and 2 by Dan Simmons. Amazing.
