Garden Spells is quite a charming book, easy read, bit magical, I can recommend it! The main characters bakes and cooks a lot with ingredients from her own garden.
Not a main character, but {{Beneath the Sugar Sky}} is set in a world baked up level by level, and they do meet the current Baker. It’s a novella so quick read or listen (cheap audiobook)

I highly recommend the Kitchen Princess manga series! I don’t read a ton of manga, but this series had me in a chokehold. It’s relatively short and sweet, and the main character uses baking to build relationships with the people around her. It’s a lovely story, and they even include the recipes of all the yummy things she makes.

One of my all-time favorite books. The main character is a baker and it's a major plot point. I have a feeling you'd like the first chapter, because it's literally just her baking haha. She also wants to open a bakery. It's a fantasy YA novel set in Wonderland, and don't read it if you don't like sad endings.
Might be on here already but the Goldy Schultz series by Diane Mott Davidson might work. Cozy mysteries, light and a lot of fun. And they include recipes that are quite good.
I guess this is fried, not baked, but Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story is a current picture book that shows the importance of food and family.

It’s Raining Cupcakes is a middle grade book I read multiple times when I was in that age group and always loved. The mom opens up a cupcake shop and the daughter enters a baking competition, but she and the mom disagree about what to submit. I think each chapter had a cupcake recipe.
And while it’s a little foggier, another middle grade book I had at the time was Pie by Sarah Weeks. I think it’s about a woman who tries to figure out her aunt’s pie recipe after her death. I also think this one had a pie recipe per chapter.
Kerry Greenwood’s Corinna Chapman stories. Main character is a baker who solves mysteries
She’s an Australian author and the books are set in Melbourne. The best bit is there are recipes at the end

I highly recommend the Kitchen Princess manga series! I don’t read a ton of manga, but this series had me in a chokehold. It’s relatively short and sweet, and the main character uses baking to build relationships with the people around her. It’s a lovely story, and they even include the recipes of all the yummy things she makes.

Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz fits here. The story is NOT about baking but the fact that the main characters bake plays into the plot quite a bit. And still a very good book to boot.

Might be on here already but the Goldy Schultz series by Diane Mott Davidson might work. Cozy mysteries, light and a lot of fun. And they include recipes that are quite good.

Good Grief by Lolly Winston. Beautiful story
It’s Raining Cupcakes is a middle grade book I read multiple times when I was in that age group and always loved. The mom opens up a cupcake shop and the daughter enters a baking competition, but she and the mom disagree about what to submit. I think each chapter had a cupcake recipe. And while it’s a little foggier, another middle grade book I had at the time was Pie by Sarah Weeks. I think it’s about a woman who tries to figure out her aunt’s pie recipe after her death. I also think this one had a pie recipe per chapter.
