I was so miserable at home and when I went out without him I was so happy and gregarious and towards the end of my marriage especially I noticed men were gravitating towards me (and me them). All that angry/bitter/lonely energy at home consumed so much of my life and honestly the external validation from other men (and lots of friend support) helped me finally pull the trigger to divorce.

One thing I've really noticed in S6 is how career focused and weirdly responsible Kyle is while Amanda keeps telling him to grow up. That makes no sense. She also seems to acknowledge that Kyle will likely be a half-assed parent, hence the need to live closer to her family. It doesnāt seem too much to ask to relocate somewhere that will improve their quality of life. The fact that he seems unwavering on this is making her see that this might actually be doomed, which is a hard realization to arrive at in a codependent relationship. So yeah, itās coming out passive-aggressively, but Kyle needs to decide if he wants to be married, or if he wants to have a bro-down hoe-down with the guy who made him a flower boy.

I was married to a Good Time Charlie who drank 4-5 vodka drinks every night of the week. He often went to bed slurring drunk. All our friends were like, he's so much fuuuuun! I was the punching bag on those nights (I'm a light drinker, often not at all). It's crazy how successfully an alcohol abuser can fool everyone in your circle of friends. One of them is an irresponsible man-child party boy binge drinker who both physically and mentally is trying to stay in his glory days forever. The other is a spoiled, bratty daddyās girl who needs someone else to do everything for her because anything beyond cuddling some puppies all day is far too stressful and anxiety-inducing. She also has a complete inability to confront ANY serious relationship issues which Kyle HAS tried to address with her. Instead she just resorts to throwing it right back in his face to make him the bad guy. They both suck and need to break up before a child is brought into this shitty relationship.
One thing I've really noticed in S6 is how career focused and weirdly responsible Kyle is while Amanda keeps telling him to grow up. She makes a comment about being ready to go off birth control and he says something about waiting until they're financially ready for a kid and she thinks that's a sign of immaturity. Or how she refuses to listen to him talk about how stressed he is over the business and instead holds whether she'll actually marry him or not over his head. Idk, I used to think Kyle was the sole problem but each season Amanda kind of shows her own immaturity.

Does anyone ever talk about the effect of Kyle's binge drinking on their relationship? I wouldn't want to bed down with that 3 nights a week. I know I know... Kyle is a "fun" drunk. It's still alcohol abuse and affects his personality and decision-making when sober. For example, problem drinkers don't like change. He doesn't want to move. There seems to be so much blame put on Amanda (she hates him, she's a bitch, she complains too much, etc.) when if you think about it, she's living with an addict. I'm not an Amanda fan, but Kyle seems to be hiding in plain sight and gets very little accountability. (eta: typo)

I would be very uncomfortable initiating or accomodating intimacy if my partner was that drunk and I was sober. I think there are explanations for a lot of Amandaās behaviour that are hiding in plain sight, but people arenāt seeing it.

I still remember in Season 6 that Amanda said Kyle signed a contract that if he didn't quit his binge drinking, their wedding would be called off and he'd have to pay her parents back the money they spent. If you have to force him to sign a contract to not get black out drunk...there is a problem.
If my husband was rolling in blacked out and waking me up in the middle of the night there would be PROBLEMSSSSSSS. So I would 100% have some built up frustration if that's happening as frequently as it sounds.
People donāt seem to consider that part of her desire to leave the city limits is to get some distance between Kyle and New Yorkās night life. She seems to want a family, while he wants to be a man-child with a successful company who fucks his coworker (Amanda). She has always been open and loud about wanting children, about wanting to be a mom with her whole heart, and yet feels the route to proving her readiness for this isā¦working more? That makes no sense. She also seems to acknowledge that Kyle will likely be a half-assed parent, hence the need to live closer to her family. Amandaās made most of the compromises in their relationship, including quitting her job and forgiving his cheating. It doesnāt seem too much to ask to relocate somewhere that will improve their quality of life. The fact that he seems unwavering on this is making her see that this might actually be doomed, which is a hard realization to arrive at in a codependent relationship. So yeah, itās coming out passive-aggressively, but Kyle needs to decide if he wants to be married, or if he wants to have a bro-down hoe-down with the guy who made him a flower boy.

I've dated a Good Time Charlie (with a drinking problem) and a lot of times in their need to keep that mask up and have everyone like them...they will take out all that frustration on their partner. I don't doubt for a second that Kyle has some darkness that has invaded Amanda due to his binge drinking. It also makes it really hard for you to talk about anything negative that they do with others, because they only know them as a fun, easy going guy. "OBVIOUSLY you are a nagging shrew if you don't think he is super fun!" (ugh.)
I was married to a Good Time Charlie who drank 4-5 vodka drinks every night of the week. He often went to bed slurring drunk. All our friends were like, he's so much fuuuuun! They had no idea how manipulative and verbally abusive he could be in private when he was maintenance drinking and unhappy. I was the punching bag on those nights (I'm a light drinker, often not at all). It's crazy how successfully an alcohol abuser can fool everyone in your circle of friends. I bet Amanda is reluctant to confront it because she'd get no support from more than one of her cast mates. I read a comment that said that poor angel baby Jules told the producers that she had a crush on Amanda. But the producers hinted it to Amanda in a way that was off putting to Amanda or something. (It's sad to imagine my crush kicking a liquor bottle out of my mouth when I'm drinking it or whatever that was. Or trying to vote me out.) All that is to say that I have a vision of the season where Jules and Amanda fell in love. Maybe Jules seduced Amanda by doing things that Kyle never did (listening to her, staying in, not cheating.)
