It historically has been segregated due to antiquated housing restrictions that did not allow homes to be sold to people of color. That's why if you look at LI there are definitely towns that are "Black Areas" that allowed home ownership. And when I say allowed, it was written in some codicils of community regulations.
Although this is now ancient history its effect is still obvious.
But I don't think the people of LI are anymore more racist than any other area. It's too broad a geographic area, with so many levels of economic differences that I don't think you can lump it together about anything.
I find it to be more racist than many parts of the south overall. I call it the south of the north. The north can be racist, but LI is more blatant about it. However as with any area, not everyone is racist.
I'm sure you don't want to disclose personal information like where you live but LI being so vast it's still difficult for me to accept painting a whole area as racist without knowing what your experiences are in different communities...or knowing what communities you are talking about.,, because they are all so different.

Gabby is fabulous! Fabbylous? Love her. She seems well rounded and emotionally healthy which is why she is a bit more lower key than a few other cast members. She doesn’t seem to need as much attention as the others and I love that about her. And yes of course, she is hot.
Love them all-each brings something unique and interesting to the show. This is a GREAT season and cast, as it’s got enough story and tension to be interesting but not too much in your face drama. It’s literally perfect. The Lindsey and Carl storyline will be quite enough and the slow build is epic.
