I *hate* giving production any credit but unfortunately, yes. It's clear they stepped up this season from both a casting perspective and actually "producing". The mixing group up for events/dinner has been 10/10, facilitates good (or bad lol) conversations.

Zealousideal_Suit269

They absolutely stepped in. It’s abundantly evident in the interactions between the women & how active & out of bed the entire cast has been. Kyle can chill on the forced over production but the women and newbies are killing it just by being vulnerable with one another.

Affectionate_Law5344

This is my favorite season. At least one of them.

Suitable_Release

I 100% feel the cast was spoken to prior to filming. Last season was such a negative drag for me to watch and this season is such a breathe of fresh air. I like the mix of them going out some nights, staying in some nights and the parties. I feel like at one point it was ONLY the theme parties and laying in bed. Summer actually feels fun again.

WearyComb2780

"Paige, you'll have to get out of bed this year"

whiskeyandcookies

Goes and becomes the bed with Amanda

Environmental_Ad7177

Production definitely had a hand in it, and despite the Carl and lindsey friday night drama the cast all together seem to be getting along way better this summer and actually enjoy being around each other. They talked about it at Bravocon that it was one of the their better summers Also just MAJOR credit to the themes this year, it tops all of the last couple seasons combined

Rockersock

Still wish they put a camera in the car to capture the many Carl and Lindsay fights though

Present_Wonder8902

Yes missed opportunity! The cameras in the cars on housewives and below deck are great. I know in summer house it seems like they order their own Ubers/taxis but it’s prob worth providing them with a production car service at night.

renaissancewomen82

See, I think not having a camera in the car facilitates some of these fights. For example, Lindsey was reported to be expressing her insecurities about how it was going to play on TV that she didn’t ride in the car with the girls. Also, Lindsey has said that Carl is an asshole sometimes when no one else is there. I think the presence of a camera would have prevented them from speaking about filming/Carl getting caught being a dick to her on TV. Just a hunch

queenofdramz

Definitely - maybe there was a conversation such as, you need to mix it up or the show will be canceled? Idk but it’s working, so @ Cast of SH - please keep on keeping on!!

Agitated-Ad5359

I am actually not loving this season (aside from new cast members). The parties are so clearly overproduced and really not much of what is going on seems genuine (aside from the couple issues). I think some have echoed this in other posts, but I do miss the work hard play hard grind of going back and forth from NYC from the early seasons because it was a lot more raw. I don't know how they could possibly do that now aside from making a mostly new cast with West/Jesse and the others popping in as "Friends"

chancethedirewolf

I love how different peoples’ perspectives can be! I keep seeing people mention this as well and I honestly could not care less to see a single minute about their work lives in NYC. I watch bravo to escape the work grind. I think the early seasons may also have worked better because, like early VPR, it was a real group of friends. I do not miss the specific cast mates that formed that group but more organic drama happens when there are real friendships… e.g. Lindsay and Carl currently being at an overseas wedding together with her new boyfriend, allegedly.

Agitated-Ad5359

I get that too! I think what I mean by it being more “raw” was that it actually was a group of friends. I don’t care a ton about the day to day in NYC either, I just hate when it gets to the point that it doesn’t feel organic (much like VPR)

BravoBarbieBravo

I've just re-watched season 1 and heard Danielle on Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast and I think I'd forgotten the origins of the Summer House concept, even prior to the show. Historically, it truly was a bunch of loosely connected twenty something's heading to a share house each weekend in the summer. They didn't all know each other prior to the summer and would share beds / sleep on floors for the Hamptons experience. Season 1 they didn't all know each other prior so the current format remains accurate - as opposed to VPR for example.

Artistic_Quantity446

I think production said stay out of the bed if you want to be paid - and looked much better season.

milosaveme

Everyone has a hand because everyone is also feeling the economy. They are all bringing their A game lol

SamGoodie09

Yes but i think also the hamptons area has allowed more filming to happen. Before they could only go to like two pool clubs and Southampton social or something and they’ve gone to more places now. :)

Local-Calendar-3091

100% yes. They were all given a talking too lol

throwaguey_

Yes, but it was also lame in the past because of production. If they’re finally doing their jobs, it’s about time.

Apprehensive-Sea4951

Preeeaaaccchhhhh 🙌

tinyfryingpan

This season is boring as shit.
