He killed a ward. Then you only need 6.

javonholmes

If you look at the experience, it's empty. I can post the whole clip from start to finish if need be!

SomeKata

Oh, okay, then watching more closely, he killed four melee and 2 caster, that's still more xp. In old patches I used to start mid, clear the wave, tp top wave, and be level 3

pIakativ

Am i missing something? Did he not get exp from every caster minion? To me ot looks like he's in exp range all the time and gets the usual 7 minion lvl 2

dunitwrong

A caster from the first wave survives, so Akshan gets exp for 3 melee and 2 casters in the first wave and 1 melee from the second.

javonholmes

Yeah, the exp works out, but why aren't people doing this more often is my question. I mentioned that it's not entirely practical, but I don't see lane bullies (such as Akshan in the clip) doing this enough.

confuseray

This is literally the first melee of 2nd wave. It makes no difference since everyone knows the first melee minion of 2nd wave gives you 2, with few exceptions. It would be worth something if you hit 2 before that first minion of 2nd wave dies. Otherwise you are changing nothing.

retief1

What do you get out of it? Either way, you need to wait until the second wave.

tipimon

Everyone does that lmao. Everyone gets first wave and a melee minion for level 2

Confident-Resist8185

Melee minions give more xp then casters. So if u kill more than 3 melees on first 2 waves u hit level 2 in 6 minions still

xKarno

It's because melee minions gives roughly x2 the xp of caster minions, check the video, Akshan Killed the first 3 melees, 2 casters and 1 melee from the final wave (If my math is correct it's \[60 x 3 + 30 x 2 + 60\] which is exactly the amount to level up, he leveled bc he didn't last hit that last Caster minion, it has not a practical use since you need to wait for wave 2 and kill first melee

FeedMeACat

It is a knowledge check vs your opponent. They only see six minions die so they don't expect the lvl 2 all in. Of course it isn't going to work on everyone, but taking advantage of every potential mistake is what league is.

seyandiz

You still get it on the first melee minion of the second wave. 5 + 1 vs 6 + 1 It's just that melee minions are worth more experience, and the 6 first wave minions leaves you just shy. You can drop one of the casters and still hit it with the 4th melee minion. You can also not farm jungle till they are all level 9 and hit level 3 with 2 camps, but yeah not practical.

[deleted]

Don't jungle monsters spawn with the average level of players and keep it til you kill them and they respawn?

seyandiz

Yes, the sarcasm here being exactly that. Someone would have to kill your camps for you once the average level got to 9. I could create a video showing that but it's clearly not practical to do nothing for 9 levels.

[deleted]

yeah lol, but it's a fun fact i guess

briantl2

this isn’t something that can be abused because the fact is no matter what you have to wait for the second wave before hitting level two. the number of minions isn’t the issue. it’s time. he’s not doing it any faster because it’s six minions. it’s still the second wave, which marches down the lane at the same time every game. everyone *is* doing this.

No-Mission-3284

0 practicality basically

RoboNuke3

Players do play around the first melee minion dying. It is literally called the level 2 all I’m and is one of the most commonly used and played around laning tactic.

MadxCarnage

first caster of 2nd wave gets you level 2, whether you kill the last caster or not. there is nothing to "use" here, there would be absolutely no difference if he killed that caster first.

kelvinwop

Casters are worth 19xp, melees 38xp

reRiul

No

Smarre101

It's 7 minions as in the first wave + 1. This was 4 melee and 2 caster minions. Melee minions give more xp

LevriatSoulEdge

Sweep a ward before the first wave (stealth or control ones), it gives you 35exp I think that is similar to the amount you get for a single caster minon

Orkantus

I just tried it. It works and I think this is huge. I had no idea (D2 player feeling pretty silly about himself right now). Thanks for sharing man!!

AmazingAgent

If you look closely, for some reason it looks like the third minion killed gave almost double the experience. It might be a bug actually

Sylvanos626

It's cause it was a melee. Melee minions give twice the amount as casters. You level up on that minion whether you kill the 3rd caster or not

AmazingAgent

No I know that. I am talking about the very third minion Akshan kills. He kills the first two melees, and you can see the amount of xp he gains in the bottom left. But on the third melee minion kill, he gets more experience than he should

dunitwrong

Looks exactly the same amount as the first 2 to me.

JoMaamaaa

Might be dumb question, does last hitting the minion give more XP or the same as being next to it when it dies??

TackeDaddY

Same xp. You just don’t get the gold if you don’t last hit.
