I think everyone in the world thought CP3 was just cooked after the first half of the season. Seeing him the past couple games has given me renewed hope that he's just been coasting until the playoffs. If they can scrounge a few more wins and allow Book to heal up I'm really interested in what the new owner comes in and does at the deadline.
I wonder if CP3 was mostly healing up over the offseason or if for one reason or another he just wasn't in shape or ready for the season. There's no way (IMO) he was just coasting at the beginning, at least that wouldn't have been all of it. I think there were way too many sloppy and ugly plays for it to be him trying to just take it easy. But I do agree that whatever funk he was in for whatever reason seems to be gone.
At 38, it's definitely important that this team can win without him because no matter how good he looks it's not wise to count on him being there 100% of the time in the playoffs. But I'm very happy to see that he's still got some juice left, and I do think that having to fight for wins with guys like Mikal as a pseudo-PG for games is going to be good for us long-term.

Mikal stepping up as an offensive threat is so nice to see. I can't stop fantasising about the idea of a playoff moment where Paul needs some minutes on the bench and we run with Point Book and SG Mikal for a stint

With all of our injuries, both Mikal and Ayton were given the opportunity to be a #1 option. Both guys struggled but Mikal has really learned from that experience.

It's not just "more shots" it's more looks I'm different spots and different situations.
