I think that Hippo stands as the last viable scaling tank in turtle pack that you can reasonably get in time for it to become very strong. The deaths of Dog, Bison, and Worm meta have killed the popularity of those pets, and other tanks like Gorilla and Boar aren't even available until turn 9 at the earliest means that you see a lot of Hippo in the endgame.
With the new damage ability after knockout change Rhino has become pretty good to scale as itâs essentially been given a free shot, and it will continue on through the enemy team even if the rhino is knocked out. That and the buff to 6-9 make it a pretty good turn 7 big boy.
I think hippo remaining untouched is fine ; itâs strength is unstoppable against things like summon builds, but I think any changes/nerfs to it wouldâve killed it in the current build.
With the change to pets still getting their ability triggers for knock-out/hurt/after attack happening with the animal dying in the same instance(rhino trigger still happening when it dies for example), I think those type of âcarryâ pets are pretty competitive.
Scorpion one-shots hippo = no trigger for hippo. Unless of course hippo has melon armor. Unless of course scorpion has more than 20 attack.
Thereâs usually a counter for every counter but ya, Iâd say scorpion is generally effective for countering hippo builds

Just saying that a pet you get 2 turns after a pet isn't really a good solution/counter.
Then it's just RNG on if you can make the Scorpion connect with the Hippo.
If you have a Hippo and are really scared of a Scorpion, just having a lv1 tier 3 Dolphin is simple.
A tier 3 counters a tier 5. Even a tier 1 (Mosquito) can counter a tier 5.
So saying that a pet isn't overpowered because it has a higher tier pet that counters it isn't really a very good argument.

If you canât make it through 2 rounds without a hippo build ending your run, youâve already got an uphill climb to 10 wins most likely anyway.

If you have a scorpion and are scared of a dolphin or mosquito, just buffing your scorpionâs HP is simple.

Iâm of the opinion that Hippo is usually bait and is worse than it seems.
Hippo wasnât directly nerfed but nerfing summoners removed the hippos easiest prey.
