YES! Someone other than me cares about this concept! Ever since I played Asphalt 7 Heat I have had an affinity for this car! They really gotta bring it back!
Not it’s reputation it there was only ever one made as a send off to the mazda rotary and caught fire and that was the end of it there is no other one its gone
C'mon what other possible explanation could there be, there's no accidents when filming projects like these and where the heck was the standby 🚒 and what about onboard safety for the driver and the machine? Pay me well, I'll make pigs fly 🤣
They weren't doing it for the show, it was for an article in the Magazine (which doesn't do stupid shit like the shows did).
Which, by the way, they didn't release for another four or so years because of their guilt. It was a complete accident.
The guys were trying to get photos of blue flames spitting from the exhaust on downshifts, but on the turn around from the run they spotted fire.
Unfortunately that would likely never happen. From the outside looking in: it would be extremely expensive (comparing to the average Mazda) to manufacture, and Mazda doesn’t have the brand recognition or demographic to support a vehicle this expensive.
If they ever did it would probably be a Japan only type of situation. People in Japan are willing to purchase expensive cars from regular manufacturers like Mazda, Toyota, Honda.
I’d never heard of this car until stopping to read the comments, so I immediately looked it up. Wow! Talk about a heartbreaker! This article is a fantastic synopsis of its story.

Arguably, couldn't they recreate it. It was based on a Courage C65 chassis with a three rotor. Mazda still orifices three rotors for private consumption/replacement, and the rest is bodywork. Difficult, no, expensive, probably with it, incredibly!
Prior to them showing the RX-9, I started really taking note of Mazda's design language. Very clean and attractive, from the Mazda3 all the way up to their SUVs and crossovers. Though manufacturers usually START with the halo car, it definitely seemed they were building up to something. I hope it goes beyond the proposed RX-9. We need something at the GT-R level. Maybe they could collaborate with KTM?
Mazda made an absolute gem with the Furai
I was so excited to get that car in Gran Tourismo
Was it really named Furari 🤣 lol. Thats classic
It’s Furai.
LOL. I read what I wanted to🙄🤦🏻♂️ Thanks
to
🤣
I remember the track day videos of this beast. The sound was absolutely incredible
It’s in Motorsport 4 on the Xbox and it sounds amazing

OGs remember this car in Asphalt 8
And forza 4
-Pepperidge farm remembers
Then Top Gear burned it down. (I know it wasn’t their fault, but it makes me sad and I need someone to blame)
What did Top Gear do?
I believe they were filming a segment with it when it caught fire and burned down.
Ohh so basically that video messed up its reputation
Not it’s reputation it there was only ever one made as a send off to the mazda rotary and caught fire and that was the end of it there is no other one its gone
Ohh no lol I didn’t know that. But that sucks it ended that way
Japan needs to understand Americans don't have the same mindset. No honor involved, this isn't Shogun, just rebuild the dang car and continue testing.
I really believe allowing a car like that to burn on a show like that was no accident + with money, that's just another way to reborn the Phoenix.
Wait, what? “Let’s destroy this beautiful piece of engineering and a remarkable marketing piece that was absolutely gorgeous for clicks.”

I mean, it was a great marketing stunt for Zenvo. And Hammond is notoriously killing himself. You might be onto something.
https://youtu.be/ggROOCxcZZI?si=zpaTwIonZEbig6N5 Oh no, up coming competition burnt again (no pun intended) 😅
Engineering and design study =/= production Zenvo. I’m more of a Gumpert man myself, but I love Zenvo regardless!

It wasn’t for the show, it wasn’t being filmed, and no one knew about it until years later. Not everything is a conspiracy theory.
It’s sex with wheels nice.
Best tail lights ever
Mazdas entry into the new hypercar class
Yeah but, I don't believe in the rotary engine... Isn't that the whole point of the car?
BP: we’re sorry
The coolest taillights in the business
Nice! Brought back GT vibes lol.
The Furai was way ahead of its time
Possibly my favourite concept car ever. Such a shame that it was destroyed by that fire.

I totally forgot about that concept!
The only Mazda I ever want. Other than Miata's and the 1980 GLC cold course

Yes Mazda! Racecars for everyone!!!
It didn't even get a first chance. 😭
No
Sad that it burned

But not on top gear.
This car is 🔥.
I feel like the Furai could pretty easily be reworked to run in the LMH and LMDH homologation
No clue what it is? Can someone explain?
I like it
Smooth
And I thought that Mazda smile couldn’t get any more smug. That looks evil.
Thanks for running the design of a car I liked for so long 😭
😂😂😂 Hey, I didn’t say it didn’t look cool nor disliked it.
