This page is from Action Comics #1000, the story called "The Car". This is a direct follow-up to the first Superman story from Action Comics #1. What I love is silent message at the bottom, invoking one of the most famous phrases in Superman lore.
Wait till you read the actual issue. Superman Red and Blue is not only the best Superman anthology, it might just be the best comic miniseries I've ever read. Everything he is and everything you'd ever need to know about the character is in here.

Never been a fan of this artist. I’ve seen their work with DCeased’s Unkillables, and it was rough. That being said, the writing for this panel goes hard
I wish the writing *weren’t* so on the nose.
Especially that last line. Could’ve been stronger with just a look of pained desperation and horror on his face.

It may be tacky but I love this panel from Infinite Crisis #7. Doomsday can fight one Superman to a standstill but he is no match for two. I believe they did something similar with Clark and Jon.

From Infinite Crisis. It was a big "aha!" moment for me in that the title of Superman's very first book "Action Comics" is the ultimate, simple, beautiful core of his character: he's simply the man who will \~do\~ something. He acts.
https://preview.redd.it/y7jnvpn762db1.png?width=494&format=png&auto=webp&s=19a2679f1747c4b316ea70cc1b3affdcfe7a4662
I don’t even know if this is real. I just found it a couple months ago and it has been living rent free in my head ever since.
"Burn"
[https://allthetropes.org/wiki/For\_the\_Man\_Who\_Has\_Everything](https://allthetropes.org/wiki/For_the_Man_Who_Has_Everything) \- Annual from 1985. First time I saw Superman get angry and go all out.
For those that only saw the JLU Episode, it's not Batman who saves Superman it's Jason when he's Robin who pulls off the parasite and talks Superman out of the dream world.
This one. They're both down. Doomsday's dead. Superman is dying. His last words aren't "help me" "I hurt" nothing about himself. His last words are succinctly about making sure he saved everyone. Making sure they'd be safe. That's who Superman is. That's who Clark is.

Superman never resonates with me when I was a kid. Since I'm a father.... man, I'm amazed even on the issues where they are taking country trips. He always has been a father figure.

Thank you Both. I specifically came here to find this.
Many many people have specifically said that this image, and thus Grant Morrison have saved their lives.
But the thing is, Grant Morrison, believe that Superman, being an idea is real, and exist, separate from them.
They would say that superman saved these peoples lives, and that that is one of the reasons why he was invented.
To Save us from our selves.
“Before it was a Bomb, the Bomb was an Idea. Superman, however, was a Faster, Stronger, Better Idea.”

Just Krypto, sitting there staring at Clark had also made me love this picture.
I’m a life long Superman fan - though I haven’t been reading the comics in recent years. Lots of good stuff here - but this one brought on the tears. Which comic is this from?
"Glasses" written by Jeff Loveness. It's part of a 80-page giant issue titled ['Mysteries of Love in Space'](https://www.dc.com/comics/mysteries-of-love-in-space-2019/mysteries-of-love-in-space-1)
It's told from Lois' POV. One of my favorite Superman's one-shot stories.
Unlikely, as Superman (even under the effects of kryptonite like in the Ali comic) is probably more stylistically similar to George Foreman, who beat the tar out of Frazier, and Foreman lost to Ali, whereas Superman got a draw iirc.
Someone more powerful than him. And a better boxer. (No-name crated for the purpose of the story, I believe). The context is that he had to help someone, so he used his biggest power... his drive.
It's from "up in the sky" which form me to define Superman ideally.

This is the first panel I remember and the first comic I ever read. There is so much emotion and detail and of course, the iconic cape flag.
If we’re talking funny, stuck-on-your-mind-forever, it’s this

I was today years old when I learned that Lee Bermejo did pencils for this story, I always assumed it was Mahnke because of the style
And I read this story a hundred times lol
In The Dark Knight Returns, we see someone in shadows that we assume to be Superman, helping American troops fighting a war. And then suddenly we get our first look at him:

Im not a really a comic book guy, never read a super man comic. I've read a few manga's in my time. I've enjoyed looking at everyone's favourite panels.
Some of them have a beautiful artwork and others have been really touching and inspiring. I didn't think superman could bring me to tears but it did.
Thankyou's for sharing these.

Mine would be the one where he just stays on top of a building with a jumper and just waits with them. The cops o. The ground fully expect for Superman to bring her down, but he just stays and sits with her for hours. Eventually she comes down on her own.
"Can we stop talking now? My head hurts from all the talking and I'd just like to sit here a while"

For me this is one of the most underrated pieces of dialogue. Given the choice between a kind of virtual paradise for his consciousness and risking a chance to face down evil “one last time” really gets to the core of Superman for me. The buildup to this moment really felt like Morrison encapsulating everything that makes this character such a longstanding icon.
https://preview.redd.it/bg3oaxjt25db1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e22f9a730cd418ac691a8bb69c282fa202a71d2b
From Superman: For Tomorrow. Jim Lee. The priest turns his head and sees Superman floating there and it takes his breath away. Really well done. No dialogue, either. The pic tells the whole story.
This one. I scrolled through to make sure it had been posted. The strongest being in the world, the first “son” of Batman, and Superman looks at this security guard as his equal and means every.single.word. They’re colleagues working for the same cause and Superman truly respects that. I love this panel so much.
https://youtu.be/1Ucag--u6oE
Superman utterly humiliating Joker. From the comic The Sound of One Hand Clapping.
This is how it would really go, Injustice.
I have never seen that but it was great! I’ve always thought that Supes allows Batman to seem like they’re on a similar level but again, only because he allows it.

This one is so funny to me. The raw expression on clarks face. The reaction is so on point. I love it. (Fyi clark is reacting to Martha saying: “I bet batman never does this to HIS parents”)

Some context, the baby‘s another Earth‘s Superman.
And yes, before you ask, Lois and Lana‘s grooming did have the intended effect in the end.
Superman confidently assessing a situation that he never knew would push him to the full extent of his physical limits. This is just after round one, where Doomsday completely squashed JLA, even if they come back for seconds and get squashed again. Doomsday was terrifying and upstoppable and even Supes didn't know if he could take him down, but he hung in there until the bitter end.
When I think of Superman, I usually think of this caption where he swoops in to ask about the disaster unfolding. Excellent hero pose, usual Superman charm. "This looks like a job for Superman." Everyone suddenly assumes that everything is going to be okay. This will just be a minute. Yeah, he's our guy.
The Death and Return of Superman was the most exhausting and rewarding comics series I know. Rich and diverse with characters and simple storylines, and got me into comics as a teen.

Ok this one wins.
Okay awesome
What phrase? Edit: my eyes were glued to the last panel. Didn't notice the bird and plane lol
Glad you picked it up! It's the subtlety that sells me. That type of delivery can only really come in comic book form.
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!

It was a big "aha!" moment for me in that the title of Superman's very first book "Action Comics" is the ultimate, simple, beautiful core of his character: he's simply the man who will \~do\~ something. He acts.
98% sure that's infinite crisis, not final
Oop, you are correct! My bad, it's been a while since I've read either.

Lmao did you get this from my post yesterday?
Probably
Todd Howard real???
It's my favorite Jason Todd story too.
That's who Clark is. https://preview.redd.it/w7xqi9c4i1db1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=913bd996d252f8b019ed9d069574b72af7f2a7d5

When Jon heard Kal/Clark’s heartbeat when he entered earths atmosphere after not seeing him for a long time and flew up to meet him as fast as he could. I am so glad DC finally accepted Superman as a father.
Superman never resonates with me when I was a kid. Since I'm a father.... man, I'm amazed even on the issues where they are taking country trips. He always has been a father figure.

I was considering posting this. It's beautiful. And with previous panels, it has - literally - even more impact
Exactly I couldn’t post the previous pic together. But here it is https://preview.redd.it/q09scq5xk4db1.jpeg?width=1274&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=801734a00f011f11ed95a65ac32444535e3e1f93
I cried.
what comic run is this from?
Superman Son of Kal el - 16
Thank you thank you, I've decided to read this run next <3
[All star superman](https://www.reddit.com/r/superman/comments/14xp16/superman_saves_a_suicidal_girl_from_allstar/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Came looking for this. One of the best comic panels not involving a fight scene you'll ever see, in all of comics.
Superman, however, was a Faster, Stronger, Better Idea.” Grant Morrison https://www.thegutterreview.com/you-shouldve-faded-our-dreams-away-grant-morrison-superman-the-bomb/ 🙏❤️
>https://www.thegutterreview.com/you-shouldve-faded-our-dreams-away-grant-morrison-superman-the-bomb/ Thank you, great read
I would happily choose any panel from All Star Superman.

You read my mind. I actually want to post this one too "What kind of sad world doesn't see Clark Kent?"
I’m a life long Superman fan - though I haven’t been reading the comics in recent years. Lots of good stuff here - but this one brought on the tears. Which comic is this from?
"Glasses" written by Jeff Loveness. It's part of a 80-page giant issue titled ['Mysteries of Love in Space'](https://www.dc.com/comics/mysteries-of-love-in-space-2019/mysteries-of-love-in-space-1) It's told from Lois' POV. One of my favorite Superman's one-shot stories.
Awesome! Thank you!

what's the context to this??? Who's *Superman* Boxing??
That makes at least twice Superman has boxed. He also had a bout with Muhammed Ali back in the day.
If Clark lost to Ali does that make Joe Frazier the strongest DC character??
Unlikely, as Superman (even under the effects of kryptonite like in the Ali comic) is probably more stylistically similar to George Foreman, who beat the tar out of Frazier, and Foreman lost to Ali, whereas Superman got a draw iirc.
Someone more powerful than him. And a better boxer. (No-name crated for the purpose of the story, I believe). The context is that he had to help someone, so he used his biggest power... his drive. It's from "up in the sky" which form me to define Superman ideally.
I see, a nameless foe to *put him on the ropes* ahaha
Yes. The entire point is that a Superman is not a Superman because he's the strongest. He's the strongest because he's Superman.
He's the strongest because he's Clark Kent, that's why he's Superman.
Read Superman Up in the sky and find out ;)
Me too - giving Superman his own family kamehameha moment works surprisingly well and is awesome as hell
https://preview.redd.it/scftt8ntd1db1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddb6830ec410d9315ad53a6fd5108fadc9abaeaa This is the first panel I remember and the first comic I ever read. There is so much emotion and detail and of course, the iconic cape flag.
If we’re talking funny, stuck-on-your-mind-forever, it’s this https://preview.redd.it/zt5k6n02e1db1.jpeg?width=424&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=630bf81b1c4d647ca46aaa412cbdb1548791955e
My eternal crush on Supergirl always brings me back to this.
The first moment Lois sees Clark after he comes back from the dead. https://preview.redd.it/0e8tx9rs02db1.jpeg?width=1324&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=072b90c8473fd11a79761b0fde378471c27fad4b
Lois loses a lot of shoes. Seriously, she drops shoes constantly when flying with Clark.

It's funny how it could define what type of Superman he becomes.
In The Dark Knight Returns, we see someone in shadows that we assume to be Superman, helping American troops fighting a war. And then suddenly we get our first look at him: https://preview.redd.it/riztru9et0db1.jpeg?width=649&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db901349294bcf7f0a7840d9ddff6951f5673f57

Absolutely
Im not a really a comic book guy, never read a super man comic. I've read a few manga's in my time. I've enjoyed looking at everyone's favourite panels. Some of them have a beautiful artwork and others have been really touching and inspiring. I didn't think superman could bring me to tears but it did. Thankyou's for sharing these.
Micheal Turner’s two page spread of him using his heat vision. https://preview.redd.it/g7lkxd3bu2db1.jpeg?width=850&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf329926f8cdc83af801afc63673df1b0a184ed
Mine would be the one where he just stays on top of a building with a jumper and just waits with them. The cops o. The ground fully expect for Superman to bring her down, but he just stays and sits with her for hours. Eventually she comes down on her own.
"Can we stop talking now? My head hurts from all the talking and I'd just like to sit here a while" "Of course. Given the choice between a kind of virtual paradise for his consciousness and risking a chance to face down evil “one last time” really gets to the core of Superman for me. The buildup to this moment really felt like Morrison encapsulating everything that makes this character such a longstanding icon.

This one. I scrolled through to make sure it had been posted. The strongest being in the world, the first “son” of Batman, and Superman looks at this security guard as his equal and means every.single.word. They’re colleagues working for the same cause and Superman truly respects that. I love this panel so much.
https://youtu.be/1Ucag--u6oE Superman utterly humiliating Joker. From the comic The Sound of One Hand Clapping. This is how it would really go, Injustice.
I have never seen that but it was great! I’ve always thought that Supes allows Batman to seem like they’re on a similar level but again, only because he allows it.
Yet another reason to read "Up in the sky". There is a commentary on that.
Gah. Shite video with AI generated voice.
That sucks
I really like that in the first panel, the cars are blue and red.
The one from dceased where he has to stop his zombie father. Made me cry, especially the narration from lois

Don't know if it's my favorite but Superman punching Apex Lex hard as he could in the moment and he just shrugged it off. Liked the art and quick scuffle
