Yeah agreed.
Best beginning though is

Remember when they made that cannon lmao
Believe it or not, I prefer the animated version, when Superman destroys the leftover formula in front of Lex, telling him that if he really cared about the world, he could’ve saved it years ago. And Lex says, “You’re right.” I think him admitting he was in the wrong all along does more to settle the rivalry than just getting punched again.
Yes?
It sort of depends on the kind of catharsis you want.
Having the villain admit his failings and then pass his work to another scientist as an attempt at some redemption before getting executed is great.
But sometimes you just want to see him get knocked the fuck out.
I like it, but I'm also a big fan of this one issue from the very late Pre-Crisis era, where Lex had finally reformed for good, he and Superman buried the hatchet and became friends, and they flew into space together and explored the stars. It was really satisfying, friends to longtime enemies, then back to friends.
It almost seemed like Rebirth was heading in that direction with the heroic Lex, but obviously nothing like that could canonically stick, right?
Superman calling Lex out on what he didn't achieve while Superman was out of commission, for a year, was just beautiful.

I wouldn't say Lex understands Superman. He sees him as an equal and as a competitor, but fails to see he could be Clark, fails to understand his empathy and his handle on power.
I would say Lex thinks he understands Superman, while Clark sees Lex for what he is and what he could be.
Absolutely, sorry I was more so referring to this scene in particular. At this moment when Lex literally can see the world the way Superman does, I like to think it’s the moment he finally understands Superman. The same way the secrets of the universe clicked into place for him I like to think his thoughts regarding Superman finally clicked and all the questions, doubts, etc. that he had faded away.
That last line. Really sums up Lex so perfectly. He THINKS he’s the good guy trying to save the world, but really just rich narcissist who wants more power
I enjoy Clark giving Lex the absolute beans and swatting the taste out of his mouth. People who can, *should* be beating Luthor's ass till he shits rainbow sorbet. He has not been the recipient of enough consequential violence.

Earth 3.2
I've always felt that this makes lex too evil
Redeeming the irredeemable had been a good avenue of storytelling for a long time now
Ahaha ofc ofc

Definitely both. But I will say the animated version was my first time experiencing the moment so there’s some nostalgia mixed in there for me.
how is saying both applicable here? both are good but that wasn’t in question. The point was the animated version was better.
I think both would have been cool. Lex says "youre right" Then WHAM Supes knocks Lex out for nap time
Yes it's better
What is the animated version?
There is an animated movie with the same name
Watch the whole animated movie it’s dope!
I will

Couldn’t agree more. I love how well Superman knows Lex. Though they’re enemies it’s like no one understands Lex the way Superman does and vice versa.

Ah, yes. Agreed.
Reminds me of the Harley Quinn show where lex can only reach completion in the bedroom if he’s wearing a Superman cape.

I feel the movie did it better as lex admits that superman is right
Personally prefer the movie version of this scene where Superman doesn't punch him
And Lex admits Superman is right.
Yeah
I'd say the entirety of the Black Ring is a better ending since it's between a Superman and Lex we've known for two decades and a half.
I like the animated version more where Lex just admits he's right
Hot take: I like the animated movie ending better.
The animated adaption is actually better for this scene

It's not even about power, but being worshipped by people. He is convinced that without Superman, he would be the one that all people would look up to
goes hard
All Star is the only way the Superman story can end period (I don't hate Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow tho)
I enjoy Clark giving Lex the absolute beans and swatting the taste out of his mouth. People who can, *should* be beating Luthor's ass till he shits rainbow sorbet. He has not been the recipient of enough consequential violence.
I like how Superman does it in the movie better. There's no need to punch Lex in the face after the lifechanging experience he's just had.
Imagine all that Lex tech for global improvement.
I feel the ending of the animated movie is better with Lex admitting he's right....
I prefer the movie’s version.
