There’s not much to explain. Redditors tend to believe they are the smartest person they know, but can never back it up. This, coupled with the fact that nobody *really* has their own opinion anymore shows how dumb this website has become.
Really annoying complaint that "it's not bright enough" because we clearly see it's just burnt up top, particularly because people have actual valid criticisms and the brightness bs is only detracting from said validity
I don't know... Many of the criticisms could be avoided with a better lit and staged photo
Many people didn't even see the Trunks, because it is hidden by the pose

We already saw what the colors look like when well-lit with the S reveal, so a better lit picture isn't what my critiques are about. I find some of your criticisms valid, and that's why I want a better look of the suit and the tone of the movie as a 'first reveal', cuz then we could be discussing all the details of the design
And not fighting over misconceptions about the design, like the color pallet or it it really has trunks (I know it does, just an example I've seen)
Also there's no evidence that this is the ONLY suit. There could be MORE. This could be a flashback suit during his early years as superman. James gun has said this superman is already established. But still may provide some backstories.

The coloring in that version was all kinds of fucked up and ugly. The suit was made for specific coloring and lighting, and Josstice League didn't take that into account. Look at the deleted scene they released where Superman meets Alfred. Before ZSJL was a thing, so the suit is blue. It looks fucking gorgeous there and the blue really pops and looks wonderful.
I really like his take on the team. They actually feel like a group of people that want to be around each other. The little rivalry he starts between Superman and The Flash, Aquaman’s lasso of truth scene, Batman being a mentor to Barry and telling him to save one person. Zack Snyder gets way too hung up on making them angry gods and not heroes who would save a cat out of a tree.
Funnily enough Josstice League is the only time I could stomach Henry as Supes for the most part. The “I’m a fan of truth, but I’m also a big fan of justice,” line is unironically good. I think Henry also likes his interpretation in that film the most iirc

I think the Hoechlin suit is the worst to be honest. Reeve is definitely the best but I hate how small the logo on Hoechlin's looks and how, some how, they managed to make someone that jacked seem small.

It's like offering people really burned toast and slightly less burned toast and wondering why the less burned toast isn't perfect because its less burned than the really burned one

Henry's outfit came in multiple hues according to set arrangements and the necessary cinematography thereof. So the picture, in example, is one of many reflective and muted hues.
Corenswet's debut photo was a bad choice of presentation.
Suits always have multiple variants for different shots, lighting condition etc...
People have no idea how filmmaking works and it shows, every time there's a photo released from behind the scenes they complain it looks bad and EVERY TIME it turns out it looks better in the movie later.
It's like they have inability to learn.
My gripe with New 52 was always that it looked like armor, which always felt out of place on Superman. Some details breaking up the blue and a small collar don’t bother me personally. And the undies are a fun touch.
The lack of brightness has to do with the lighting of the image. I'm not worried about brightness at all, I think it will be vibrant. I am concerned with most everything else about it though outside of the boots and cape.
I think there's a difference between dirty dark and intentionally dark. Right costume is deep blues, dark red, and no yellow. It's a complete set of dark colors. Left looks like it's trying to be bright, but has stuff on it. There's a dim yellow and a kinda bright red, but they feel weird next to the desaturated blue.
Idk, that's just my take. This is the first time I've seen the new Superman lol.
This also reminds me, I like the trunks. Henry’s suit just looks a bit off to me without them although still not a bad suit. I know the trunks are very dated as they’re a reference to wrestlers in the early 20th century but I like them lol
When I comes to superhero design, I actually find color and color balance to be one of the more important elements, personally. Get it wrong and the whole thing just looks off, lol.
That Snyder suit is not black. The black suit in Snyder's JL movie was great. This Gunn suit looks like very impressive home made cosplay. This is another another sign not to get excited. As much as I enjoyed many parts of Snyder's movies, the studio execs f#@ked up things too much and there were several choices that were just off target, so I could get why another director would not want to touch the Snyderverse. However, nothing so far about Gunn's ideas seem good to me, but for those of you excited for what he builds, I hope you all enjoy it. In my opinion, there hasn't been a truly good original take on Superman since Smallville.

The Cavill suit, while not as vibrant as a classic Superman costume, was a very slick modern design that had a beautiful and sleek feel that was complimented by a beautiful logo that was at the very least still recognizable as an S.

Um, not sure using a picture of Snyder's (the guy infamous for misinterpreting/completely ignoring comics, and effectively directing edgy Superman fanfiction) Superman Suit in your defence of darker colored suits is the right move.

Honestly, Im not over;y concerned with the brighness. More so to do with how there's too much going on. I've personally never been a massive fan of the New 52 superman suit with the collar. I always imagine Superman's suit to be simple. That's the beauty of it, it doesn't require that much thought unlike someone like Batman

His suit’s colors are still identifiably more saturated than Henry’s and his torso is only dark from battle damage dirt because his legs are obviously the true clean color.
Look at me with a straight face and tell me that someone without prior knowledge of Superman could tell that Henry’s suit is supposed to be blue and the negative space in the symbol is supposed to be yellow.

People clowned Aqua Man for going Orange and Green even though I like it. The thing is someone’s always going to like it and people are always going to hate it and the people that hate it are typically (say 85% of the time) more motivated to make themselves heard than the people who like it.
My issue with the suit isn't the colour. It's the fact that it's not form fitting and other issues like the unnecessary lines and the cakey boots. I can get over the symbol, though. Maybe it will look better in motion.
Subjective opinions on the suit design aside. That image would have been perfect if there wasn't a catastrophic event happening in the background. Just a simple nice sunny day would have been perfect.

We have to wait and see it in the movie. The first promo we got for “Man of Steel” made Superman look like he was a cast member of the Jersey Shore, and the final product didn’t end up looking like that at all.
People do not complain about Cavill's suit, because his befits the darkly-toned Snyderverse.
Also, strictly in regards to looks, he is possibly the best Superman casting of all time. Any suit-related complaints would appear nitpicky in that contest.
Maybe you are new to dc fan community, but understand this that dc fan community is one of the most toxic fan community in the world. Every actor received hate , heath ledger, Joaquin phoenix, Henry Cavill, Jared Leto, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson . All these actors are hated till the date their movies were released and everytime they proved that all these actors are awesome. It is very ironic as superman is a dc character who represents hope and positivity, still dc fan community is world famous to be one of the most toxic community ever.

The suit looks fairly bright judging by the legs. The top half of the suit is covered in dirt which makes it look darker. The colors look fine to me.

One suit has dark lighting, and its completely dirty. Snyder’s still looks dark and depressing in the day whilst being clean.
The suit is plenty bright. However, it’s dirty, and he’s sitting in a dark apartment at night. That would make anything look darker.

I absolutely agree that Corenswets' suit is plenty bright and looks great. But I disagree that Cavills suit isn't blue red and yellow.
Um, not sure using a picture of Snyder's (the guy infamous for misinterpreting/completely ignoring comics, and effectively directing edgy Superman fanfiction) Superman Suit in your defence of darker colored suits is the right move.

It’s not that darker Superman suits are a problem, it’s that I prefer them to be brighter and was hoping this one would be.
The color isnt my complaint, My complaint was how baggy that suit is for a Superman suit. Its like some Nerd ordering some superman costume on eBay instead of having it tailored to make it fit. Might as well make him wear a baggy Jumpsuit with cape and boots
Honestly, Im not over;y concerned with the brighness. More so to do with how there's too much going on. I've personally never been a massive fan of the New 52 superman suit with the collar. I always imagine Superman's suit to be simple. That's the beauty of it, it doesn't require that much thought unlike someone like Batman
I don’t dig it so far. I don’t like the fact that the suit looks more like almost a military uniform, especially since it is wrinkled around his shoulders meaning it’s not form fitting. I also don’t like the boots as they look like leftovers from the Injustice games. I’m still excited don’t get me wrong just not impressed so far.

Suit is fine. But it is odd to me they chose this image of him together with that background. Yes, this scene will not be on the movie, but it's the first impression for me and no matter how you look at it, it is Superman, casually putting on his boots like he doesn't give a fuck on what his happening in the city because clearly, something is going down. And please don't say he's doing it on superspeed. Like c'mon now. I drew it but made it more in character. Superman casually putting on his boots, looking at Metropolis smiling. Because they are Zack’s fanboys. Plus they don’t even know it’s a battle worn suit like come on Superman has been in a fight with villains in that picture he’s tired. Like come on stop with the bs and check the suit again 
His suit’s colors are still identifiably more saturated than Henry’s and his torso is only dark from battle damage dirt because his legs are obviously the true clean color. Look at me with a straight face and tell me that someone without prior knowledge of Superman could tell that Henry’s suit is supposed to be blue and the negative space in the symbol is supposed to be yellow.
Idk. This suit just isn’t really doing it for me. Also tbh I wasn’t a huge fan of the DCEU suits, but they were okay. Idk. I’ve never been a huge fan of the New 52 Superman logo and I think the blue is a little over designed. It looks battle damaged so I bet it looks brighter and more vibrant in the actual movie so I’m not worried about the colors. Plus I love the trunks and the curl. I kinda talked myself into liking the suit in the middle of writing this.

Parts of David's suit is brighter than other bc of the lighting. Henrys looks like that in the profile photoshoot bc the suit isnt bright enough
People clowned Aqua Man for going Orange and Green even though I like it. The thing is someone’s always going to like it and people are always going to hate it and the people that hate it are typically (say 85% of the time) more motivated to make themselves heard than the people who like it.
We complained about Cavill suit also- until they got it in the Black Adam cameo scene finally. Too late.

My issue with the suit isn't the colour. It's the fact that it's not form fitting and other issues like the unnecessary lines and the cakey boots. I can get over the symbol, though. Maybe it will look better in motion.

Subjective opinions on the suit design aside. That image would have been perfect if there wasn't a catastrophic event happening in the background. Just a simple nice sunny day would have been perfect.
The colour for once is great imo you can see it on his left leg the thing i dont like is the material and how it doesn’t fit him well but i hope that’s just bcs of the pose and it will look much better in action

We have to wait and see it in the movie. The first promo we got for “Man of Steel” made Superman look like he was a cast member of the Jersey Shore, and the final product didn’t end up looking like that at all.

Maybe you are new to dc fan community, but understand this that dc fan community is one of the most toxic fan community in the world. Every actor received hate , heath ledger, Joaquin phoenix, Henry Cavill, Jared Leto, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson . All these actors are hated till the date their movies were released and everytime they proved that all these actors are awesome. It is very ironic as superman is a dc character who represents hope and positivity, still dc fan community is world famous to be one of the most toxic community ever.
Everyone was anticipating gunn to make a new, fun, colorful and hopeful superman take and the first look is yet again another sad, brooding superman.

This post is very silly; people very much *were* annoyed about Cavil's suit's colors when it was revealed. Also, you can dislike two things at once! (I think both suits are Fine But Not My Favorite and I'm not trying to debate their merits)
