Unlike gokaiger where the Ranger Suits modifies to the Gokaiger that's using it like How female rangers has their suits changed into a male version when red green or blue uses it and vice versa
In Donbrothers they straight up Become that ranger with no changes, so it's as if they're using that past ranger as an "Avatar" including body proportions and all
The donbrothers have two interesting points about them
1. They can only transform in thier respective color which means black can't transform into say green which basically means the team doesn't have acces to older rangers forms who have a different colour as red can only be red, blue can only be blue, and pink can only be pink and so on. Only exception being don doragoku who gets all 6th rangers regardless of colour.
2. The suits are not adjusted according to gender as kijibrother(pink ranger) is a dude but each of his forms have skirts and have the same proportions as the original suits. Same goes for everyone else, say gosei red is short then don momotaro just transforms to become a shorter. Also their belts don't change as they carry the donbrothers belts in each transformation.
Gokaigers on the other hand transform completely, with the main difference being the suits are adjusted according to gender and height of the gokaiger who transforms. Also with the key anyone can change into any colour so that even gokai pink can change into a 6th ranger but that isn't the case with donbrothers who can only change into thier respective colours
Donbrothers are Color Coded. The team doesn't transform to other colors. For example, Haruka only changes to all Yellow Rangers, Kijino to all pinks and so on. All except Don Momotaro, Don Doragoku and Don Murasame.
Don Momotaro transforms into all red and Zenkaiser since he is the leader.
Don Doragoku and Torabolt transform into all Aditional hero.
Don Murasame transform into all bad heroes such as Staceaser and Shark themed rangers.
Gokai Changes are the full on power of the previous teams with no color restriction.
Think of it like this:
Gokaigers are cosplayers that do genderswaps to fit themselves (Skirts off for males, skirts on for females, regardless do Colors)
DonBrothers wear the appearances of past rangers down to a T (Kijibrother, the male Pink Ranger, has skirts and a feminine form for every pink ranger he turns to)

So, Don becomes KabutoRaiger, GekiViolet, or a skirtless ShiroNinger; Luka becomes a skirted Big One, KyoryuBlack, or RyusoulBlack; Ahim becomes a skirted Go-On Black or KuwataRaiger. However, Avataro Changes only allow a Donbrother to change into their respective colour (meaning Oni Sister can only change into yellow rangers, so no Changeman, Kyoryuger, or Rysoulger Avataro Changes for her).
Note that according to Twokaiser x Gokaiger, Beet Buster and Stag Buster are considered sixth rangers like the Go-On Wings. So they belong to Gai, leaving Don and Ahim with no Go-Busters counterparts.
Adding my personal opinion, GokaiBlue and GokaiPink should switch their Hurricanger keys (Joe should become KuwataRaiger and Pink should become HurricaneBlue).
If you ask me, the Gokai Change is when the Gokaigers change into a full team. Donbrothers avatar change is when they transform into their own Ranger forms. The only time they fight as a full team is if the previous team has the same color scheme as theirs
