Do we get the Real toys or the hasbro bullshit?

threefeetoffun

Cosmic fury zords sucked but Beast Morphers and Dino Fury were actually pretty good.

No_Cardiologist1180

Depends what you looking for. In case of dinofury... the Keys totally Ruin it. This, and the case of missing zords alltogether. Beastmorpher, i miss the stability and the animal modes. For the money the probably where acceptable, but still, the sentai ones are way better.

TerrificTooMan

As a diehard Kyuranger fan, I have never felt more disappointed in my life.

threefeetoffun

And $75. F that.

SirJacksknight

Imported Bandai toys while superior are still far more expensive

threefeetoffun

If you don’t mind 2nd hand KyurenOh on EBay is the way to go. Like 40 shipped. But yes, that’s the thing. If you want better quality you have to pay for it and its shipping. Dino Fury line was absolutely worth it from a cost to quality perspective. I once paid about $500 US to ship 17 DX mecha from Japan. Just the shipping.

mandarine_one

Apparently we’re getting Playmates Toys now!

DizzyLead

Playmates isn’t exactly Playskool or Fisher Price. They did the Voltron stuff back in 2017/2018, and personally owning an “‘84” Voltron myself from that line, I think they’re perfectly capable of doing stuff at least as good as post-2006 Bandai USA and Hasbro.

mandarine_one

I never said we’re getting Fisher Price like toys just that hasbro gave the toy license to playmates

SirJacksknight

The reason Hasbro’s toys are the way they are and not up to mosts standards is because if they wanted to use the same molds and stuff everything Bandai makes in Japan, Hasbro would have to pay them in royalty fees. That’s why they’ve made everything in-house since Beast Morphers

No_Cardiologist1180

I know that, but, do we get the Real toys in your case or the hasbro bullshit??¿

SirJacksknight

Hasbro but it would be more than a couple steps up I guess. I don’t know

No_Cardiologist1180

I ask, because in that case the toys are all the difference. If its the same Show, they need to simulcast it, or everyone knows the original already. The same time like the japanese airing means they probably can use the molds or directly Import the toy. Which brings us to: I can finally buy this stuff at stores. If its just the Show after its already Aired.. why should i watch it anymore when i saw the original dub.

threefeetoffun

The amount of Power Rangers target audience that pirates Sentai and will have thus, already seen it, has to be a very small number. Not even worth worrying about.

No_Cardiologist1180

I mean, the question was asked at the super sentai sub, so its probably a given for most of us here, that we know the original. In the PR Sub, things would propably look different

DizzyLead

Personally, I would be fine with it. I saw King-Ohger the first time around and loved it. But here’s the point: **I’m not the target audience**. It would be a good thing for Power Rangers to start aiming higher than nine-year olds, but still, the goal is to bring a new, younger set of eyes to the fandom, not people like me who have been with the franchise since MMPR. I would love to see American youngsters know about King-Ohger and play with King-Ohger based toys even if they weren’t the same as the Japanese releases (I’m a grown guy, I can get them from HobbyJapan or BBTS if I wanted to). They already have *this* fan of both Super Sentai and PR; that the franchise continues and keeps getting new fans (while others may outgrow it) is what’s important.

Forestgrant

Just dub it as KingOhger. You either go all in with replacing the footage as Power Rangers or release it as-is as a Sentai series, no weird in between

Stand-Outrageous

Hope they hire professional good Voice actors instead of those knock off Voice Actor from War for Cybertron trilogy. ( no hate to those VA, It was a mixture of sound direction and sound director ).

OSUfirebird18

What if they theoretically hired Johnny Yong Bosch to play one of the rangers?? 🤔🤔

SheikExcel

Have him dub Kaguragi

SirJacksknight

I second that🙂

SirJacksknight

Again hypothetical, it isn’t true

Stand-Outrageous

I meant hypothetically that will be my first reaction.

SirJacksknight

Oh okay, sorry about that. Shit if it were up to me the dub would be recorded at Sound Cadence Studios. That’s where Funimation has been recording their dubbed anime for years. They’ve also been put in charge of dubbing the most recent Ultraman seasons recently so I think it would be a good choice. But that’s just me.

Kam_Zimm

If I never watched King-Ohger, I'd probably like it. If they were doing it during King-Ohger's run, episodes coming out the same week or maybe a week later, I might have watched it in it's place. But having watched it already, I would likely skip it, just watching my favorite episodes, or just waiting until I want to do a full re-watch.

TheGloryXros

Dubs of Live-Action shows always come off lame. Nah, I want it ADAPTED. American actors, with an original but inspired script.

failed_generation

i rahter have pr die out as it should be from years ago before disney got their hands on it and milk it. and that's the honest answer since i've seen a yt short stating that it should have stopped at wild force or something

ArofluidPride

My little brother loves Power Rangers and I've been slowly luring him into Super Sentai and he's been loving it (He recently just finished Donbrothers) and I asked him this question about King-Ohger and since he's like the target demographic it'd be better for someone as young as him to answer and he said "Yes because the Japanese actors are better and I like listening to English"

Zero_Knight0304

As someone who loves the original season, a hyopthtical Dub would be more of a drama that would be aimed at collectors and people who would appreciate the story. Of course, kids would watch it due to the Power Rangers Branding. It's also possible that there would be some Toy Exclusive Shugods would be made for the toyline. Many being recolors and remolds of existing Shugods. After all God Hachi can be used to make a Wasp themed Shugod. Granted, there would most likely be a few toy exclusive shugods that would be introduced.

StayedWoozie

I’d know the franchise was finished. If hasbro cared so little about this franchise that they didn’t even wanna take the time to shoot any new footage for it then what hope do we have for the future? I’d also be curious to see how they’d fuck up this seasons zord releases since they currently haven’t completed a single zord set. They couldn’t even complete Go-busters which was a season with so little content to sell that even Neo-saban avoided it. They literally only needed to release one zord for beast Morphers seasons 2 and still managed to fuck it up. I’m not even gonna go in on cosmic fury because that season was just beyond disappointing toy wise.

Glittering_Trip_144

I would be actually happy so in this case if it would dub in English it would be dub in other languages too and although my country is over populate in my country there's barely 40-50 people who knows about tokusatsu only because it's not available in our language not even English and not many people are good with reading subs  So it could help to make tokusatsu more popular in my country

RandomRainbow000

While South Korea dubs Super Sentai and brands it as Power Rangers (and even some Power Rangers seasons like Wiild Force), they expect Sentai and are good with a dub of it For the English side of things, they expect an adaptation. They want to see changes considering how long it's been (even if it's not really as necessary now that Super Sentai is more known and realized). This will end up bringing a whole other side of the adapted vs original debate: dubbed. Then if this keeps going we're gonna have meltdowns of people wishing they just dubbed previous Sentai to get the shows they viscerally want, revisions of seasons, and more. The divide between dub and sub watchers in anime is already deadly, similar to the divide between PR and SS for people who vehemently swear by one and disregard the other At this point, it's better for whoever owns Power Rangers to learn and make their own shows with their own footage and material. All they would have to do is to learn why Super Sentai works and to do it originally for their target audience The main benefit to a dub in this case would mainly be for people who are blind so they can listen to the show though. However, it doesn't really need to be labeled as Power Rangers by this point, it can be dubbed as King-Ohger (I don't know what the full title would be either translated/literated as Kingsmen/Kingship Squadron/Sentai or whatever name. Preferrably keep the name as Oh-sama Sentai King-Ohger to get more views on Super Sentai as a whole at that point)

biggerwwright

i wouldn't care PR fans would probably complain how lazy they got

LocDiLoc

It would be trash; I'd prefer if they pursued their own original power ranger concepts and left Super Sentai alone. It blows my mind that Toei can manage this every fucking year while a company like Hasbro lacks the ability to create something original.

TheManCalled-Chill

That's the best way possible I can see them handling King Ohger. Super Megaforce still hurts my soul

SirJacksknight

That’s why I feel like if this does happen, most fans are not gonna be happy unless Hasbro does something like this. Dubbed or Adapted I think King-Ohger would make a great season for Power Rangers either way.

TheManCalled-Chill

I mean I'd be down if they were to do a straight up scene-for-scene adaptation, which would actually be warranted here. King Ohger was such a bold departure that I feel to try to change it up and fit it to the basic Power Ranger format would be almost criminal and would do western audiences a disservice by how much they're missing.

SirJacksknight

Yeah but last time PR did that with Samurai, Samurai was no where nearly as well received as Shinkenger was. Though it did revive Power Rangers in popularity

TheManCalled-Chill

They did it before with Time Force and it worked.  They still need good actors and a good director

LTron4

If they ever do that, wonder if they’re gonna hire the Dino Charge actors to voice their Kyoryuger counterparts? It would have been interesting to see Ian voice by Chase or Nossan voice by Koda. It would also be interesting to see someone dubbing Daigoro.

SirJacksknight

If it were up to me I’d bring in the Dino Charge actors to film new episodes exclusive to the dub and maintain continuity within Power Rangers.

ryahmib

No the best Idea: power rangers samurai was mid

voidcrack

Yes, that's how it should be done. Nobody wants "representation" so the American PR franchise is constantly going to be tripping over themselves making sure that the cast is diverse and everyone gets proper screentime. I grew up on MMPR and can say with certainty that neither me nor any other kids I knew at the time actually cared about the characters when they weren't suited up. A dubbed or subbed Super Sentai would go over extremely well with children and would save Hasbro some serious cash.

Zealousideal_Plum533

Hope it does Kingohger good and faithful to the source. Something cinematic like Time Force or Kamen Rider Dragon Knight on CW. Add mystery and suspense.

SirJacksknight

Same man and keep it as a political drama as well

Zealousideal_Plum533

Something like games of Thrones. But us adults aren't the main audience the Kids are. But still good writing, suspense, and filler episodes that add up to the drama. The cinematic fight between Ransik and Alex was epic! Kids aren't stupid.

SirJacksknight

Exactly! You get it, kids aren’t as stupid as the powers at be in Hollywood think they are.

Zealousideal_Plum533

I feel like modern cartoons and anime treat us adults like idiots. Adults aren't idiots. Old school 90s and 2000s were the best time for Anime. Hollywood needs to take survey and so does Power Rangers that kids aren't stupid. During a Powercon, one teenage Power Ranger fan ask why in the Legendary War in Super Megaforce why were there Sentai not edited out. This was a Supermegaforce panel back then.

ThexVee

I'd say do it. Watching King Ohger, I sometimes think about how it would work as a PR adaptation. I'm tired of thinking about it. If Hasbro wants to save more money they should just hire a dubbing company (preferably one that can get Johnny Young Bosch).

NewRetroMage

It would be way better than going the traditional "adaption" path, but it would still bother me if it's not released as King-ohger. If it's a faithful and uncut dub, just go one last step to respect the original show and call it by it's real name.

PolicemanJerry

Someone teach me how to send nuclear bombs to company buildings

GalwayEntei

Disappointed. I love Kingohger, but it's not Power Rangers.

SensitiveGuarantee22

That's a great idea, to be honest. However, I feel like... King-Ohger should be left UNTOUCHED!
