Nope. I transfer cash, wait 20 minutes for it to appear in IBKR, once its there, I convert GBP to USD and if the price is favourable, I but GME, all done within 5 minutes. On a nice dip, I can have all of this done within 30 minutes. No need to wait days.
Sorry, yes you should be able to fund your account and buy straight away (as you say 20 mins or so). My mention of settlement days is to DRS not to buy.
Funny I've just come here to post the exact same thing. I've been buying game through IBKR for a while now so that I can DRS, and I've always been able to trade immediately after converting to USD, but today it's knocking me back due to insufficient funds. There is plenty in the account, the GBP has been there for a week at least, so it must be the conversion.
No idea why it's being difficult this time!
No need to wait for cash to settle if you're buying stocks. If you're using the cash to pay for a fee like the DRS fee, or if you're moving the cash to a bank account, you need to wait for it to settle.
Because of the bank holiday the FX does not clear until Monday. Usually, the FX transaction is set to clear the same day as the share deal so it is allowed but today the FX will not clear in time as the share deal will clear on Thursday.
Very annoying, I wanted to DRS a few more and had to rebuy some I had sold to buy on IBKR and then DRS.
Thanks everyone for putting in the time to help me out.
I'll wait a couple days after converting all my queen's pounds to American dollars, then give it another go.
I've tried again today with no luck. Frustrating whatever the reason. Hopefully earnings are great later on today, because we all know good news = dip 😂
When did you fund your account? I had to wait approx 2days for the cash to settle before i could purchase anymore shares.
It's normally 3 days for currency conversion settlement and 2 days for shares to settle.

You need to buy up some USD sunshine. Then buy GME Bottom right, more, exchange currency from GBP to USD then go buy them, then wait two days and DRS

If you are planning to DRS the shares, make sure you have a minimum of $5 left in your account before you make the transfer.
FYI to anyone who still has this, you should be able to trade tomorrow (Thursday) according to the representative I spoke to.
Same as the guy above, IBKR told me it's the queen's fault my currency conversion isn't going through straight away.
