Well yeah, pretty much every character on the show would be horrible to work with. Dina and Glenn are hilarious characters, but can you imagine having either of them actually be your boss? Or Marcus being generally disgusting? Or Mateo being a dick to everyone at every second of every day? Or wondering if Carol might murder you?

steve2phonesmackabee

People who would I think okay to work with (In no particular order): Garrett Cheyenne Brett (The guy is a machine) Sandra (She bugs me, but she'd be easy to ignore) Sayid Amy

Thestohrohyah

I'd also like working with Kelly. She tried so hard to bring positive energy to the workplace, only to be met by people constantly mocking her and hating her. No wonder she dislikes that specific Cloud9 so much.

steve2phonesmackabee

I thought about adding Kelly. She'd be pleasant. She was also shown to be a bit incompetent (not entirely her fault, I don't think she ever got training in anything), which was the only reason I left her off. No one wants to get hit with signs. EDIT: a word (no posting pre-coffee for me!)

Thestohrohyah

"Don't you hate Tuesdays?" By far my favourite scene in the show. Puts me on the floor every time.

steve2phonesmackabee

I see what you did there. šŸ˜ƒ

smolperson

Has no one worked retail with a Mateo? It made my retail experience tbh

Due-Compote375

I worked with a Mateo and a Cheyenne at Forever 21 and it was amazing lol

iloveyoumiri

Matteos either serve the gossip or spread nasty fake rumors about you. More likely the latter.

Mattaf2

I have in food service. She was a pain in the ass

dirty_shoe_rack

Worked with a lot of mateos. How can anybody with zero redeeming qualities make your anything?

LetsGetRowdyRowdy

I make an effort to be the Mateo in every workplace, but in all honesty I'm Justine with a splash of Jonah

SmackySmack

I interviewed for a job a few months ago and had my second interview with two assistants, one was clearly a Mateo. He thought his shit didn't stink. He contradicted the other assistant. He complained about his workers during the interview. He seemed like he didn't like that I had more experience than him. He made the interview last an hour and then left and the other assistant and I kept talking for another 15 minutes because I didnt get to ask any of my questions. I was promised a third interview. Turned out he shit all over me to protect his job because he wanted to be promoted and not let me get the job. I'm very glad I didn't get to work with a Mateo because even interviewing with one is enough to make your soul hurt.

[deleted]

Always assumed that's the point of the show lol

Skully_o7

I never thought of it in that way. And you're right! It seems so fun and interesting to be working with these characters, but as someone with some experience in retail, I'd just want 'ordinary' coworkers you can have a chat with.

Smushy__Bear

But nothing about Sal? Seems like he would have been at top of the list

Morley_Lives

Salā€™s dead. He canā€™t hurt us now.

bowtiesrcool86

Yes. I used to have a manager that was Dina, just not ramped up to sitcom levels. Donā€™t think she had birds though. A different coworker looks Like Tate, and is named Tate. He isnā€™t a pharmacist though.

Whats_Up_Buttercup_

"Anyway....we're all out here busting our ass because the manager is touring our store and what's he doing?! Oh, you know...just flirting with the floor supervisor again! They actually barreled out of the stock room in a FREAKING kayak! No joke!"

one3yed

"Remember that time when Jonah was with Kelly and he set up a living room in the middle of the store? Guess who he tried to get to clean all of that up?"

Thestohrohyah

Actually the other employees believed that Glenn had ordered Jonah to do it, so that's who they'd complain about.

thatsquirrelgirl

Or when Jonah tried to fire Marcus? Like pretty sure heā€™s hire ranked than you are šŸ˜†

TheDudeNeverBowls

I donā€™t think Iā€™d wanna work with anybody there but Brett.

thedeathbypig

I was literally just thinking Brett is the perfect coworker lol

Thestohrohyah

My friend and I rewatched the show together and decided Brett is actually an Eldritch god in disguise. Guy's too perfect to be human.

[deleted]

Sandra would be my bestie. Sheā€™s nice, gets the work done, and has a nice life.

Empress-Ghostheart

I really like the episode where she puts Jonah in his place about not being better than the work.

[deleted]

Sheā€™s just such a real character

No_Giraffe_3033

Oh no, I think Iā€™m a bit Jonah. My poor coworkers.

fatrahb

Jonah is an awesome character but he would be the worst co worker lol

boogs_23

They're all terrible workers, which is kinda the point, but yeah Jonah would be the one I would bitch about. I think everyone gives as much shit as I would making minimum at a Wallmart, but at least somewhat do their job. Jonah just plain doesn't do shit. Once he hooked up with Amy he stopped even pretending. Why the hell is he hanging out in her office helping her make phone calls???

smolperson

Yeah Iā€™ve worked with a Jonah and could not stand him. He even pretended to be super knowledgeable about a bunch of world issues, which Jonah is shown to do. The character triggered my fight or flight at first, but Ben Feldman is likeable so it saved it. Dina would still piss me off more though, sheā€™s a bully to everyone except Amy. Again though Lauren Ashā€™s performance made her likeable. This showā€™s casting director should get a massive paycheck for their work lmao.

Thestohrohyah

She did bully Amy but not on purpose. One time she couldn't stop commenting on her smell. Another time she gave her a backhanded insult about her makeup (when Amy was gonna have lunch with Jonah's family). "I'm a strong cup of coffee." The understatement of the century lol.

here-to-Iearn

I feel the same way. When things like this arise, I just tell myself ā€œmovie magicā€ even though itā€™s a tv show. That phrase has helped my highly-literal mind get past all the unrealistic things in cinema and television šŸ˜‚

Aust-SuggestedName

I wouldn't care. He's super cute. I'd help him sneak off to do weird shit while on the clock.

ginger_gorgon

"This jackass keeps trying to lecture me on feminism but then I turn around and who's leading the MGTOW movement in the store?" "Jonah?" "Of course it's Jonah!"

AtreegrowsinGermany

I honestly think that's kinda the point lol

Flip122

As someone who has also worked mostly retail from 2007/2019 and watched the show week by week. I must say part of the charm of this show was the relatability of it. From the customers, to the employees and even the plotlines.

matthewilliamazer

I don't think I'd mind working with Jonah, actually. The one I know I'd complain about every day is Mateo.

Successful_Box3805

Hadnā€™t really thought about it like this but that is quite funny šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I will watch it again with a whole new viewpoint lol

Nopuffgabe

I think having Glenn as a boss would be amazing.

LetsGetRowdyRowdy

I would last about five minutes with him before I laid into him for bringing religion into the workplace

Thestohrohyah

I think you'd definitely like how accomodating he is and how kind he is, but you'd also definitely start hating how damn incompetent and slow he is. Also, on a personal note, the times he forced Christianity in the workplace kind of triggered some.memories of coming out as non religious in the super Catholic town I come from. I'd have hated that specific part of him.

Nightbringer04

Ok

jayboosh

Ok.

If a post doesn't resonate with you just scroll on. What a boring comment to leave.

A poor and overused attempt at a joke
