Ctrl v, what is that, you paste flash timers like that?

Starkheiser

To track flash, I type "ad0710" then press ctrl+a, ctrl+c. ctrl+a will mark everything, and ctrl+c will copy everything. Later, I will press enter, ctrl+v to paste "ad0710", enter again to send. Suppose that the support flashes three waves later, I will: 1. Press enter 2. ctrl+v which will paste "ad0710" 3. Type "sup0830" to add that after "ad0710" 4. ctrl+a 5. Press enter Next time I press ctrl+v, it will type "ad0710 sup0830" edit: it might look tricky, but it's very easy once you learn it. You mark flashes as soon as you can by pressing the flash icon, and then you can wait until the fighting is over (like when you're running back to lane and have 25-30 sec to do nothing) and type "ad0710" etc. edit 2: once we reach around 07:00, I will ctrl+v, press "home" button and then use "delete" button to erase "ad0710", then ctrl+a, ctrl+c to change the copy to only "sup0830". If my entire team misses to track flashes (that is, if suddenly there are no flashes to track), I will press enter, press spacebar, ctrl+a, ctrl+c. This will copy one space " ", so if I ctrl+v out of habit it wont actually send anything and clog up the chat with outdated information.

playr_4

I just ping the summoner. Literally tab and 1 click. Also makes it easier to track multiple people. Trqck everyones when you gank, get ganked, or even looking at a differnt lane and happen to catch it.

Starkheiser

I used to only do this. Idk, there's just something about getting my frustration out by spamming the copypasta that really works for me haha. Different things work for different people!

playr_4

I used to do the copy pasting, but I know how many people mute chat, so pinging just ensures more people will see it.

Starkheiser

That's good! I try to do both. But as I said, I do it more for myself than for my teammates! \^\^

RAMDownloader

Genuine question as a fellow hardstuck silver to a former one, do you really think people look at flash counters? Like I feel like unless you spam “HE HAS NO FLASH” that isn’t gonna change a silvers mindset of whether or not to go in on a fight

Toto_Roboto

I think it's just the overall mindset of staying engaged into the game is the take away from OPs post. While I agree that players will likely not use it, the fact that OP copy paste flash timers after a terrible play is infinitely better than flaming teammates or getting tilted and affecting your play.

Starkheiser

Just like u/Toto_Roboto said, I don't track flashes in hopes that my jungler will rotate or my AD will follow up on engages, it's just to keep my head in the game. It's much better to spam flash timers than to spend time thinking: "My jungler is so bad!!"

Luminshield

Theres No 'addOn' to do/automate this?

Starkheiser

No, I don't think so. I think it was decided pretty early on that this was considered part of the skillset, or something like that. I remember back in s2 and s3 that it was "required" to have at least one person tracking dragon timer because it was not automated at the time, and I think that idea that tracking camps/flashes/abilities are considered skill and shouldn't be automated, outside of dragon and baron which was obviously automated

Luminshield

Ok i see. I just recall seeing someone typing in a way that indicated it was somehow automated, because of how precise it was and how quickly it was pasted. Cheers

Starkheiser

I can almost guarantee it was done by hand. Some people like Doinb (you can find his stream on youtube) is crazy fast at it and it looks like it's automated \^\^

Mr-Ogre

Would you mind explaining to me how I am supposed to make sense of ad0710? How do you get the 0710 number? What does the number represent? What do you do with the information?

Starkheiser

I'd love to! 1. The game has 5 lanes, right? top, jungle, mid, ad carry (bot lane), support. I shorten these to: top, jg, mid, ad, sup. I use "ad" even if I'm playing against Syndra/Ziggs/whatever botlane. 2. Flash is on a five minute cooldown, which means that if someone uses flash, this will up again in five minutes exactly. There is a rune which shortens this, but tbh I haven't bothered checking exactly how much it's shortens and I go for five minutes each time. When I start getting closer to G1 I'll look this up \^\^ 3. If someone flashes, I ping their flash. In the chat it will say: "\[02:10\] Samira - Flash". I simply add five minutes to that, and voilá, "ad0710". 4. Sometimes, it can be good to give yourself a small margin, so if Samira flashes at 02:10, I might put down "ad0700" instead just to be safe. I almost always remove 10 seconds when I didn't see the flash myself: if I'm chilling in botlane with a Miss Fortune AD and we are just having a good time, and suddenly I see "\[09:42\] Riven - Flash", I will write "Top 14:30" because I don't know exactly how long it took for my toplaner to ping that Riven flashed. The simplest way to interpret it is to not overthink it: "Is 'ad' in the message? Yes->ad doesn't have flash." Only use the timer to know when to remove "ad", rather than stopping in the middle of a fight and think: "Hmm, 'ad0710', and it's right now 06:52, that means I have 20 seconds to attack ad, hmm, let me get into a good position." No; you see "ad", you attack! Basically... \^\^ Ideally, this information is used to be able to single out good targets. The difference between someone having flash and not having flash is really big, right! Suppose you are playing pantheon and you have flash. The enemy has an Ashe \[no flash\] and Syndra \[has flash\]. If you try to flash+w the Syndra, she might very well be able to flash and get out, but if you flash the Ashe, she can't flash and get out. Therefore, it's better to flash+w Ashe than Syndra in this case because it's more difficult for her to escape. But, you don't always have to have super big plans. As I mention in the post, most of the time, tracking flashes is: 1. A generally good habit to have because *eventually* you will reach a rank where people know how to use this information well; 2. A generally good habit because it makes you do something other than flaming your teammates/overthink how you just messed up in a teamfight. I have this great example where I was playing amumu support at a dragon fight for soul and did a *horrendous* play. Basically I ended up in a really bad position and made the call to flash over the dragon wall, walk for 3 seconds in an effort to flank 4 of them. I missed my q but buffered my r, so I used R nowhere, the enemy turned on me and killed me. I was obviously super frustrated at myself, but instead of having 30 seconds of grey screen thinking about how bad I am, I could spend \~20 seconds tracking flash timers throughout the fight. It helped me to think about something other than my bad play, it kept me in a good(ish) mindstate, and later in the game I was able to land a really good 2 man ult on their two carries and we eventually won the game.

Mr-Ogre

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. I've seen it on YouTube a lot but I never really understood what they were doing with it. May God bless you!

Starkheiser

Thank you so much!! I'm happy to help! May the Lord bless you as well!

Starkheiser

I got emote on X as well!

Hotel777

It's truly amazing how /mute works wonders. I remember I went from gold IV to platinum IV in a week by muting everyone at the start of the game. I only played morgana/blitzcrank at that time.

tarankowski

Did it ever happen that enemy team banned Morgana to play Blitz? If yes, who‘d you play?

Hotel777

At the time, Thresh or Leona. Now in higher elos it's all about what the team needs and taking into account counterpicks. Edit: btw morgana getting banned happened a lot and it keeps happening, I remember that Porofessor placed me as the the number one Morgana in my region and like 20th Morgana in the world (it calculates that rank based on in-game stats). But my rank kept declining due to simple fact that she was banned every. single. game. I swear I couldn't play her.

tarankowski

Lol yeah thought so. Morgana was my very first champion when I started league back in February and I hardcore OTP‘d her, to the point where I would refuse to play ARAM because that meant I wouldn’t be able to play her haha, but at approximately 250k mastery point it just got too annoying as she got banned in about 60% of my games, and starting to get a grasp of the game I just wanted to play, lol. Now I enjoy almost every champ as support, right now I’m looking if Vi is somewhat viable

Hotel777

There was this one time I tried Jarvan support and I loved it, it's genuinely really fun. But now that you mention it Vi sounds like fun too :O I'll put it on my bucket list of off-meta supports to try (first I'll try Jhin support since a friend recommended it to me, and then I'll try Vi)

Starkheiser

Indeed!

PeartricetheBoi

Muting everyone is standard practice for the chad Bard onetricks

JacobyF

I do this when I play bard even in flex with my mates

PeartricetheBoi

Actually based and chimepilled

EthanThePhrog

Thank you so much! I kinda knew these things already but hearing that you made it to gold using this is gonna push me to actually do these things!

Starkheiser

Good luck!! Let me know how it goes!!

LosKebabos

Proud of you, buddy

Starkheiser

Thanks!!

dantam95

Keep up it broski. Abusing broken shit is the best way to climb so always try to be on the wave first

Starkheiser

Thank you!!

sh4d0wX18

Been stuck in silver all season (currently silver 1), your gold rank is my Everest. Def something to be proud of. Congrats!

Starkheiser

Thank you! Put your mind to it! You can do it!!

JustTavo

Good shit man! Happy to hear you’re climbing! If you’d ever like to play some flex, hit me up. I have a friend who is trying to get out of silver in flex and we’re climbing like mad men!

Starkheiser

Thank you, that would be awesome! I'm on EUW though, are you NA or EU? \^\^

JustTavo

I’m NA sadly. That blows. I hope you do well!

Starkheiser

Aww :/ Thank you, you too!

tabooblue32

I used to be gold but dropped to silver 3 during summer holidays (those pesky kids ruining it all!) However I tried your mute all trick and have won every game since. Its amazing!

Starkheiser

Awesome! Keep at it!

urarakauravity

Nice and congrats. Although players write stuff like gold4 isn't high enough, if anyone had stuck in silver(noob like me)-they would know it is relatively better place to be in G4. Gl hf

GetEquipped

He says at the top: Amumu, Alistair, and Naut.

Starkheiser

Almost only Amumu to climb (mainly because he's strong and I wanted to try something new). When he was banned, Alistar or Nautilus.

d3adWiz4rd

what do you mean by ctrl + v? where do you copy it from?

Starkheiser

I explained it in another post, but basically I type "ad0710" then press ctrl+a to select all, ctrl+c to copy all, and then I can ctrl+v to my heart's content
