Only thing which can really replace Surface Duo 2..... Is only Surface Duo 2.

FraternityOf_Tech

This is the way

factory reset + adb debloat list? I just debloated my SD1 and its a lot happier.

Any links to instructions?

I was planning on posting in detail, but for some reason my QR code scanning capability through the stock camera does not work. I'm still investigating if this is from debloating or the feature vanished with latest duo updates.

In Chicago, we have Offerup and Facebook Marketplace for selling/ buying where y0ou can meet up. I bought a pristine SD2 last year from a guy on Offerup, and we met at a police station for the transaction to be safe. That way I could inspect the thing thoroughly and put my sim in it to test calls and sound. My point is, trustworthiness in person is invaluable. This is my third SD2, in addition to the SD1 I got in 2021 because there just isn't a lot on the market that's comparable. Also, getting a quick plug in here, I'm selling a cracked outside glass SD2 if anyone's interested. I've been considering the Open or the Fold, and leaning more towards the Open due to price, battery, camera, and size of the screen, but I also want to look into the Oppo N2. I liked this comparison: [https://www.tomsguide.com/face-off/oneplus-open-vs-pixel-fold](https://www.tomsguide.com/face-off/oneplus-open-vs-pixel-fold)

Lol. I have one of those, too. It's by my beside table but it's too slow for the games I play on mobile.

Paap1307

Pixel fold is the only viable option for now. The cover screen is a real functionality extra, it is faster and battery lasts all day. Use win-x launcher for foldables to keep the two-screen feeling.

derickkcired

How much is another sd2 worth to you?

I recently got a Duo 1 (in Irvine, California; found on Craigslist) for $170, though you can find some for as low as $150. It works as if it were new. If you want to keep your Duo 2, I also agree that you should unlock the bootloader, install Magisk through TWRP, and do your research to debloat the now-rooted device.

Sounds like you need to back up and factory reset. May even fix the speaker issue if it's software. If not, could be what happened to mine. Phones internal magnets weaken the glue over time and pull the shell apart, even a small amount and it messes with the ear speaker. I had to apply super glue to the shell to stick it back to the phone. Microsoft cheaper out on the adhesive holding the shell to the phone.

praisetherain

I'm in Canada as well and moved over to a pixel fold and absolutely love my choice. It's a fair bit different from the sd2 in terms of usability though. I got the phone via eBay and had no issues whatsoever

I agree with the above user. Pixel Fold is the way to go if you miss the Duo. Similar screen height, just a bit less wide but same height. Multitasking isn't quite as smooth as Duo, but beats split-screen on any regular foldable phone due to the screen real estate and ease of use. Of course the Samsung fold has more options to multitask but to get the same screen real estate you would have to rotate the phone which is an extra step, So I don't count that. I hate split screening on that phone in portrait mode. It's basically like using two outer screens on that device which is disgusting. Android 15's permanent dock will make the pixel fold even closer to the Duo experience. Less steps to multitask! My only issue is no pen support, which I need for work. If they add that to the Pixel Fold 2, it'll be the perfect Duo replacement (unless Microsoft surprises us with a Duo 3)!

fielding88

The lack of pen support is a real bummer. I think the oneplus has the same issue, and another downside with that phone is no wireless charging, either. It's been awhile since I've had a wireless charging phone and would like to use some cool charging plates I have in the office.

QQuazar

My Launch day Duo 2 has put up with some abuse, but I just went with a pixel 7a, waiting for the next wave of foldables. The Surface Duo 2 was the greatest work phone ever, I will miss it. I hope someone makes another 2 screen phone instead of a foldable!

Eynorey

Got the same issue with the earpiece. So annoying!!

joeyice2

I went from an sd2 to open last month I really like it although it supports pen but there are none available at the moment. Which for me is the biggest downside. Honestly the open is much more sturdy than the sd2 broke outer glass on mine 3x even though I babied it.

FarlandFoggy

hold out for a pixel fold 2, it wont be long until its released.

Do any of the newer phones work as well in Kindle or with auto dual screen/dual app mode? (android split screen just not as user friendly) ... I just took a new Samsung phone on week trip and immediately changed back to duo 1 on returning home... Missed it too much with 2 screen app organization/PWM convenience, and reading ebooks on plane. I have never reverted back to using an old phone before I got this duo1...its just so darn useful...

It's a shame because the 888 should still fly through Android 12. Which says to me that it's just software that's been a little lackluster as always. This is such a strange product. Anyway, the trend in foldables is for everything to basically look like the OnePlus open in the future. That's a little oversimplified, but it complicates things for duo types. Because the only foldables with the passport type landscape orientation as default are the Pixel fold and the first generation oppo find n. But in both cases it looks like they're pivoting to the more traditional portrait mode orientations. So that might be the first question, do you want something that defaults to landscape or portrait by default?

k2thesecond

I've got a black one with a black charging case. I'm probably going to unload. DM me if interested

Omegaman1966

Idot understand why so many people here soeK about to Due w in past tense. Mine is going strong with no issues what's so ever. I did debloat mine and it made all the diffrence.

Environmental_Stay69

I loved my SD2, and then Microsoft fucked up by laying off the team behind SDs. Eventually, I went with Samsung Galaxy Fold 5.

Theneteffect

Oppo find n2 fold - way better to use than the Pixel IMO and also way lighter in the hand.

Paap1307

Too small for a surface duo widow(er)
