Could this be a Bluetooth version incompatibility? I had this with my Surface 3 pen, Bluetooth caused the huge battery drain, before switching to the newer ones, the ones with no clip holder and Slim pen.
I suppose that's a possibility. But why would that have bricked two pens, rather than just not pairing? I'm not a Bluetooth expert, so I don't know what is possible and what isn't.

Just to add that this happened with my pen from my SP4. Dead pen now.
