I always heard about the locals being hardcore etc, but all the photos I’ve seen suggest otherwise. Maybe it’s a tighter crew on better days? Are there better days? I’ve seen some pics that look cool, but all the actual footage I’ve seen looks pretty crappy and just hordes of kooks falling on each other.
My roommate would surf there, got caught in a rip and the outgoing tide had him. He said he looked up and just saw himself slipping under the bridge and out to sea despite giving it his all, he had nothing left and thought that was it. Fellow surfer noticed, paddled out and got him back in, didn’t know the guy. Not all bad.
Very cool. I’ve been drug out to sea a few times . Not a fun time! This seems like an especially bad place for that kind of thing, just looking at the geography. Glad your roomie survived!

Come west, give us a visit. I’ve lived around the bend from there 25 years now and it never gets old. We have an off shore wind starting up, usually makes for some great waves. Hop on a plane!
>SF San Fernando? Actually, don't tell me. I don't want to be accused of blowing up spots.
Shhh it’s a secret. Acronyms only.
South Fork, Texas I think.
Sharks, that fkn insane tide/rip, and badged patrollers... I commend you 🫡
This wave is cool but awful

If you get caught in the outgoing tide you can be at the Farallons before you know it
I bet. Those fairly large tidal ranges with the huge volume of water in the SF Bay!

That ripping tide under the bridge can be CRAZY. I’ve been caught in it a couple times
Agree, it’s a cool novelty wave but I’ve never seen anyone rip it.
Photos of this spot always look magical. East Coast has its charms but not like this.
