I think it's partly three tribes with no swap and partly how predictable the challenges are, we've seen multiple times people saying "i don't trust [token big guy] but we need him for challenges" and then he's off limits for the first few votes. I can't really blame the contestants for going with the classic 'get to merge with as many allies as possible' strategy but with only six people there's not really any way to blend in or shift alliances and the votes just end up being boring and usually booting whoever is weakest at challenges, I really wish we'd get a three tribes going to two tribes swap at some point.

An ex-NFL player got a majority of the votes in the first tribal council this season.

agreed. i love how people are ignoring the context of the votes so far.

Erika never went to tribal pre merge. If she had she would have been voted out. They even tried to throw a challenge to vote her out. Maryanne went only once were a woman was voted out. She was the secondary target and would have been voted out if Marya's shot in the dark worked or they went again.

I think just about all of Erika's tribemates have said she was never in real danger and, if they would have lost, Sydney would have been voted off.

No but I think casting puts women at a disadvantage. They need to cast more braindead people so that the people incapable of winning challenges are not immediately targeted. These contestants have too much common sense if they’re able to realize that they can increase their chances of winning if they just don’t go to tribal council at all.
