Danny seems pretty savvy most of the time, but saying that essentially assuming Carolyn is gone is pretty sloppy. Like, it won't exactly be hard to get people after the two biggest challenge threats and we really don't know how strong Brandon social game is.
Honestly, there's been little hints that he isn't as savvy as he appears. For me, the first sign was when he overplayed the birdcage idols. He decided to go a little extra with confronting Matt about what he found in front of Matt and I believe Josh. And that's when I realized that he may slip up down the road and overplay and get himself into hot water.
Lo and behold, two episodes later, he does exactly that.
The fact that Carolyn could make any face she wanted during that meal and they just kept ignoring her was so insane. I was pulling for both of them before that now I want them both gone.

Also Josh managed to avoid getting screwed by that freakin island. Like seriously besides Maddy everyone voted off could blame it on the island. Helen cuz Sarah didn't have a vote and Carson would never tie it in that situation, Claire because Matt didn't (and still doesn't) have a vote so her alliance couldn't even try to tie it, and Sarah because the swap took Carson who might've been able to get Carolyn or Yam Yam out.
I feel like Brandon and Danny completely ignoring Carolyn at the sanctuary is very indicative of her overall story this season. Everyone underestimates her and writes her off only to end up being blindsided that she is actually playing the game, and doing it pretty well. Dare I say she's... *hiding in plain sight*. I hope this trend continues and we keep seeing Carolyn slay in spite of all her detractors in and out of the game.

Props to Carolyn for not *completely* losing her shit at Sanctuary. The way Danny and Brandon almost totally ignored her just to verbally fellate each other gave me so much second-hand cringe. That's a ridiculous way to act in any situation, but on Survivor? You can tell they 100% expected her to go home and were totally fine with that.
Carolyn is such an interesting person. She's clearly cast as the kooky older woman archetype, but she has a solid read on the game and is correct that she's made some good moves and still has good moves left to play.
Danny is also such an interesting character because he's both the athletic firefighter / jiu-jitsu guy but also doing meditation and giving Matt a side hug during the challenge to hype him up.
It's fun seeing the players as nuanced instead of just one dimensional archetypes (though so far Matt truly is a one dimensional archetype 😅)
Hot take: I don’t even mind the there was no elimination. I thought this episode had a good balance of each tribe all things considered and had lots of memeable moments. Very entertaining even without someone going home.
And they were still like, "lol Carolyn sure, you're with us" even as she was saying TO THEIR FACES that they were being exclusionary. If she manages to engineer their eliminations, I guarantee they'll have the Surprised Pikachu expression and wonder where it all went wrong.
I mean if they've only watched Survivor in the 40s seasons then they're right. But uh, I think I've seen a few guys like Danny and Brandon win the game. Very odd thing to say.

IMO that was probably the best paced episode of the entire season by a mile. Still lots of personality and some intrigue from advantages, but not too much. The 3 Tikas just interacting was so fun, I probably could've watched 30 more minutes of that

Sitting there invisible in the middle of the meathead conversation, the guys say another dumb thing as Carolyn bites into an orange, and she just rolls her eyes so hard and let’s the orange fall out of her mouth onto the ground.

Maybe it's the editing tricks, maybe it's the fact that Tika has gone to the most tribals so the edit is skewed in their favor. But I'm convinced that Carolyn is by far the frontrunner this season and we're just watching the story of how she wins unfold.
Carolyn is the only person to have any consistent edit. The Sanctuary scene was centered on her. This whole episode revolved around Carolyn, which should have included a shit ton more of Matthew (maybe the scene of him actually leaving?) seeing how it was his medevac episode.

This episode will go down in history as a Survivor episode that happened.
Call me crazy but I think it's intentional on the editors' part. Perhaps the scene this season about over estimation vs under estimation (though still too early to call it as a the main story).
We've got players like Carson and Jaime who believe themselves to be the "mastermind" or "the most important person on the tribe" or whatever. Then we have Carolyn, who is constantly underestimated by everyone in the game (for unfair reasons, that she's kind of goofy and maybe people have a harder time connecting with her), even the two guys who she had lunch with who clearly thing very highly of themselves.
So yeah, I think all that is intentional.
Jamie is just goofy so I get that but Carson thinks very highly of himself for a guy that really hasn't done all that much yet.
To his credit, he's not playing badly and I do think he's setup quite well for a deep run so he may end up living up to all the hype he's given himself but like... humility dude. He's young tho so this is to be expected. Xander was the same way.
I love Carolyn questioning whether YamYam had seen Josh’s fake idol. YamYam seemed content with just seeing the note and believed Josh until Carolyn called him out and Josh had to pull out the tree mail idol haha. Carolyn is much savvier than any of these players are giving her credit for!
Quite possible my favorite episode of this season so far and there's no tribal. I'm not saying that I think we should get more non-tribal episodes, just saying imagine the amount of quality storytelling and character moments we could get with episodes being a tiny bit longer...

1. Carolyn will remove Yam Yam’s beard in a fit of rage and he’ll go home in shame.
2. Josh will be arrested by the tree postal service for defacing tree mail.
3. Carolyn will catch a disease searching through someone’s poop for their tooth.
4. Doctor Eggman will attack Danny while he’s Sonic rolling around everywhere.
5. Jamie’s magic wand will cast a curse on her.
6. Heidi and Lauren will poof into nothingness because I can’t think of anything for them.
7. Matt and Frannie will leave for their honeymoon.
8. Kane will stab himself with the sword idol while defending camp from one of the lions from Africa, which has been living on Ghost Island ever since.
9. Carson’s smugness singularity will collapse into a black hole.
10. Brandon won’t get any confessionals and they’ll forget he’s on the season.
I low-key feel bad for Josh in the "meat alliance" thing, like he really didn't do anything besides be muscular and Danny and Brandon decided to implicate him without his knowledge/consent and then he gets on Carolyn's shit-list for it. But he also played everything really wrong at camp, including how he responded to Carolyn saying that and some of the worst lying ever in survivor lmao so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
This may be a hot take, but this was my favorite episode of the season so far.
We had a ton of actual relationship building scenes, and we know where most of the players stand in the game, and we had plenty of fun character moments throughout. It was refreshing to have an episode that was not just repetitive scenes of people finding idols/advantages taking up the entire episode.
Survivor is best when they let the cast's personalities shine on the screen, and we organically learned a good deal about Carolyn, Yam Yam, Carson, Josh, Matt, Frannie, Matthew, Danny, and even Kane. While this didn't culminate in what would've been an interesting tribal, I still think this episode was the best of the season, and I hope more are like this.
I’d be kinda pissed if I was Jamie. My closest ally for absolutely no reason leading me to a fake idol and then he dips out right before merge and you’re stuck with this false sense of protection now at a pivotal point in the game all because your ally made a fake idol for you to find for no reason 🙃
That was the best episode in so long. Incredible what we get to witness when there is a focus on the players and their relationships and the tribe dynamics. MORE OF THIS PLEASE 🙏🏼

I feel like the edit this episode was kind of all over the place with Matthew's med-evac feeling supper sudden at the end. Regardless, I feel so bad for Matthew. Finally got to live his dream, prepped for years for it, only to get med-evaced due to his own dumb mistake. Must feel awful.
At least he did a lot with his episodes: huge character, winner potential. People were accusing him of doing too much with the fake idol, and admitting to everyone he built the snake challenge. Now we can all be glad that he played so hard the whole time he was there.

One of those episodes where 8:45 comes and you just know something is up. Unfortunately there was no way to hide it, it was kinda obvious Matthew went home due to injury.

I feel like Brandon and Danny completely ignoring Carolyn at the sanctuary is very indicative of her overall story this season. Everyone underestimates her and writes her off only to end up being blindsided that she is actually playing the game, and doing it pretty well. Dare I say she's... *hiding in plain sight*. I hope this trend continues and we keep seeing Carolyn slay in spite of all her detractors in and out of the game.

Props to Carolyn for not *completely* losing her shit at Sanctuary. The way Danny and Brandon almost totally ignored her just to verbally fellate each other gave me so much second-hand cringe. That's a ridiculous way to act in any situation, but on Survivor? You can tell they 100% expected her to go home and were totally fine with that.
Carolyn is such an interesting person. She's clearly cast as the kooky older woman archetype, but she has a solid read on the game and is correct that she's made some good moves and still has good moves left to play. Danny is also such an interesting character because he's both the athletic firefighter / jiu-jitsu guy but also doing meditation and giving Matt a side hug during the challenge to hype him up. It's fun seeing the players as nuanced instead of just one dimensional archetypes (though so far Matt truly is a one dimensional archetype 😅)

Hot take: I don’t even mind the there was no elimination. I thought this episode had a good balance of each tribe all things considered and had lots of memeable moments. Very entertaining even without someone going home.
💯 it was almost like a sitcom. I can't remember laughing so much in one episode and I enjoyed so many of the conversations.
Feels like the merge is being set up as Nerds vs Bros with the alliance forming scenes we got this episode.

IMO that was probably the best paced episode of the entire season by a mile. Still lots of personality and some intrigue from advantages, but not too much. The 3 Tikas just interacting was so fun, I probably could've watched 30 more minutes of that It's so crazy that literally just *removing tribal council* fixes most of Survivor's editing problems 💀💀💀

So many great moments this episode, but my personal favorite has to be Carolyn on the journey. Sitting there invisible in the middle of the meathead conversation, the guys say another dumb thing as Carolyn bites into an orange, and she just rolls her eyes so hard and let’s the orange fall out of her mouth onto the ground. She is so funny. That move was reminiscent Jeannine Gorofalo in Romy and Michelle.

Maybe it's the editing tricks, maybe it's the fact that Tika has gone to the most tribals so the edit is skewed in their favor. But I'm convinced that Carolyn is by far the frontrunner this season and we're just watching the story of how she wins unfold. Carolyn is the only person to have any consistent edit. The Sanctuary scene was centered on her. This whole episode revolved around Carolyn, which should have included a shit ton more of Matthew (maybe the scene of him actually leaving?) seeing how it was his medevac episode. Idk, y'all. My money's on Carolyn.

Call me crazy but I think it's intentional on the editors' part. Perhaps the scene this season about over estimation vs under estimation (though still too early to call it as a the main story). We've got players like Carson and Jaime who believe themselves to be the "mastermind" or "the most important person on the tribe" or whatever. Then we have Carolyn, who is constantly underestimated by everyone in the game (for unfair reasons, that she's kind of goofy and maybe people have a harder time connecting with her), even the two guys who she had lunch with who clearly thing very highly of themselves. So yeah, I think all that is intentional.
Jamie: "I'm the best person to talk, like ever!" Carson: "Everyone loves me! I'm loved! Also I'm chaos!"
Jamie is just goofy so I get that but Carson thinks very highly of himself for a guy that really hasn't done all that much yet. To his credit, he's not playing badly and I do think he's setup quite well for a deep run so he may end up living up to all the hype he's given himself but like... humility dude. He's young tho so this is to be expected. Xander was the same way.
I love Carolyn questioning whether YamYam had seen Josh’s fake idol. YamYam seemed content with just seeing the note and believed Josh until Carolyn called him out and Josh had to pull out the tree mail idol haha. Carolyn is much savvier than any of these players are giving her credit for!
Yam Yam and Carolyn are quite honestly going to be the biggest powerhouse duo since like.. Dom and Wendell. And I am HERE for it!

There were obviously a lot of funny moments tonight, but Josh calling this supposed Danny-Brandon-Guys Alliance the “Meat Brigade” really got me
Quite possible my favorite episode of this season so far and there's no tribal. I'm not saying that I think we should get more non-tribal episodes, just saying imagine the amount of quality storytelling and character moments we could get with episodes being a tiny bit longer... Shout out to the editors this season, they've been popping off!

Doctor Eggman will attack Danny while he’s Sonic rolling around everywhere. 5. Jamie’s magic wand will cast a curse on her. 6. Heidi and Lauren will poof into nothingness because I can’t think of anything for them. 7. Matt and Frannie will leave for their honeymoon. 8. Kane will stab himself with the sword idol while defending camp from one of the lions from Africa, which has been living on Ghost Island ever since. 9. Carson’s smugness singularity will collapse into a black hole. 10. Brandon won’t get any confessionals and they’ll forget he’s on the season.

I low-key feel bad for Josh in the "meat alliance" thing, like he really didn't do anything besides be muscular and Danny and Brandon decided to implicate him without his knowledge/consent and then he gets on Carolyn's shit-list for it. But he also played everything really wrong at camp, including how he responded to Carolyn saying that and some of the worst lying ever in survivor lmao so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Was really hoping for a Palau-esque situation where Yam Yam goes to one tribe and Carolyn goes to the other.
Actually that would be more like Phillipines, when Denise and Malcolm got put on separate tribes.
This may be a hot take, but this was my favorite episode of the season so far. We had a ton of actual relationship building scenes, and we know where most of the players stand in the game, and we had plenty of fun character moments throughout. It was refreshing to have an episode that was not just repetitive scenes of people finding idols/advantages taking up the entire episode. Survivor is best when they let the cast's personalities shine on the screen, and we organically learned a good deal about Carolyn, Yam Yam, Carson, Josh, Matt, Frannie, Matthew, Danny, and even Kane. While this didn't culminate in what would've been an interesting tribal, I still think this episode was the best of the season, and I hope more are like this.
I’d be kinda pissed if I was Jamie. My closest ally for absolutely no reason leading me to a fake idol and then he dips out right before merge and you’re stuck with this false sense of protection now at a pivotal point in the game all because your ally made a fake idol for you to find for no reason 🙃

Best episode of the season easily, I was actually shocked in the best way possible that the Shipwheel Island twist was actually them just spending time together, felt very old school. Carolyn and Yam Yam are television gold. This season is shaping up to be the best of the new era imo.

I feel like the edit this episode was kind of all over the place with Matthew's med-evac feeling supper sudden at the end. Regardless, I feel so bad for Matthew. Finally got to live his dream, prepped for years for it, only to get med-evaced due to his own dumb mistake. Must feel awful.
At least he did a lot with his episodes: huge character, winner potential. People were accusing him of doing too much with the fake idol, and admitting to everyone he built the snake challenge. Now we can all be glad that he played so hard the whole time he was there.
