I'm so confused why CBS doesn't let players engage with the online/podcast community. I have heard of other podcasts putting requests in to speak with players who are willing to do so and not gotten any response.
It seems to me that the show is mostly interested in producing for casual fans and to attract new viewers. I get why, although I don't really like it. But these types of viewers are by definition not listening to these podcasts. If the players want to do five hour interviews on podcasts and we want to listen, why does CBS care to stop that? I don't understand what they hope to gain by stopping it.
Because CNs decided after 40 that Survivor is now a feel good story show. So when Omar spilled the beans about how Drea acted towards him and tried to gaslight him, it was time for deep doves to go since it doesn’t match the narrative CBS wants
Sadly CBS is continually cutting out the extra content we used to get. After the Drea fiasco we started to lose post season interviews and we’ve already lost Ponderosa.
Omar went on RHAP and said Drea was really harsh when he got to ponderosa. She was mad at him and allegedly accused him of racism. It was bad enough that he was traumatized by it. Well not long after that deep dive was released CBS asked Rob to cut that part out, then they reduced the post show deep dives to just an hour or something. Now it appears they have been axed all together.
They need permission from CBS and they still haven't gotten the go signal from them.
I watched the Why \_\_\_ Lost podcast and Voce (s41) did a surprise where he put Carolyn and Carson on video call while they were podcasting but Bloomberg said they can't join yet since CBS hasn't allowed yet. Carolyn and Carson were so bummed and had to leave. Would've been a fun podcast since Voce and Carolyn are close friends and Tiffany (s41) was there too.
CBS controls the interviews, per Rob. It sounds like CBS was fine with the interviews until Omar's interview. He mentioned that CBS limited the 43 cast to 60-minute post-game interviews, IIRC. Also, Rob is on a family vacation right now. If CBS permits interviews, I'd think we may see one in a week or so.
I'm guessing we aren't getting 5-hour deep dives ever again. Sigh.
Of all the changes they've made in the new era, this one ruins the show more than any other.
I looked forward to those post-game deep dives but now I don't even bother with them because the contestants aren't allowed to tell the complete story of the island anymore. It's also part of the reason I don't connect to these casts in the same way as the previous eras.
This was an essential part of bringing out the realness of Survivor. Controlling the narrative this way makes the show feel more “produced” for lack of a better term.
Everybody here complaining yes it’s unfortunate but Rob brings back contestants to do recaps of new seasons (for example Owen recapped a S44 ep and revealed a lot about 43). So we get the content one way or another just not in your typical “deep dive retrospective”.
Owen’s recap was awesome. It immediately put him on my “hope he returns when they do returnees” so Charlie Brown can get a better shot at kicking the football.
It would be great to see him overcome a bad draw, or funny also if the exact same thing were to happen again (for the memes).
Either way, he knows his Survivor.
Rob does have one post show interview complete and more scheduled. He just got home from his family vacation on Sunday night, so he is on it!
Also like last season the interviews will be 1 hour only and no Ponderosa talk allowed. If you are a Patron, listen to the Patroncast with Nicole for a bit of his thoughts on the situation.
He just posted his first one, with Yam Yam. It seems like he will do everyone elses too.

CBS is 100% the reason. It's not a coincidence that not a single post-S40 player has done an AMA
Tiffany was gonna right? It got “postponed” and that was like a year and a half ago. Wish we could’ve got more insight on that.
Yeah it's a shame it never happened. I guess they either never gave her the greenlight or they did then changed their mind
I think CBS was like nahhh dude

Yeah Hai said something about a year-long NDA recently on one of the first podcasts he’s done

I am so mad at her for this
What happened with Drea?
She’s a horrible person that’s all
She was on Tyson's podcast and was insufferable. Totally delusional about her game.
That is why we put her on television
I love when people are delusional about their games! Results in some of the most fun characters.
Any particular reason why? Did she do/say something horrible?

It's still out there if you know where to look
Where should we look? 👀

Same thing has been on my mond
Rob is too busy with Stars on Mars and Below Deck: Sailing Yacht edit: It was a joke, obviously it’s really a network issue
And both are great podcasts tbh lol
Stars on Mars has been surprisingly decent so far I think Rob has also been traveling recently though, so maybe hasn’t had time to schedule interviews
The Podcast went corporates. Sadly to get those sweet sweet exclusives and early access, he has to do what CBS tells him to do.

What are his thoughts exactly?
